I keep my computers for a long time, so I value a repair shop that can actually, y'know, repair stuff. I've gotten two fixes from them that the Oakridge Apple Store threw their hands up on -- an Apple Cinema Display that went dark and wouldn't power on, and a firmware unlock of a 2012 MacBook Pro. Both times they were able to fix the machines when the Apple Store couldn't. They are a kind of hole-in-the-wall shop, no question, and they're not always same-day service, but I've never been unhappy with any repairs I got from them. read more

Place should just be shut down. I had an appointment here yesterday after I got off work literally for no reason. I come to my appointment early and the rude guy at the front asks me literally 2 questions about my phone, then demands that I go "find" a computer to plug my phone into to fix it rather than even looking at my phone. Then proceeded to send me away, I asked what the purpose of having to book the appointment when you did nothing in a matter of 4 minutes then he rudely started to have a conversation with the person behind me & I left. I used them several years ago for an iphone battery replacement and was happy with the service. My current iphone needs a new battery, so I went online to book an appt. I went on the website and use contact is to ask how long it would take. They said I had to come in and order the battery then once the battery came in, book an appt to out it in. No way to order the battery online or over the phone. Ok, I cancelled the appt and came by to order the battery. I walked into the store and they said I had to make an appt to order the battery! Total waste of time for no price break over the apple store. I'm never going back of this is how hard it is to get a totally basic service. If they had told me in the text that I had to schedule to order the battery I MIGHT have considered using them again. But at this point, I give up. There is an Apple store literally across the street for the same price, so I'll stick with them. read more

I had an issue with my mac which took me to the Apple genius website. I decided to come here since I was able to get an appointment sooner than an Apple store. In hindsight, I should have waited to go to Apple. The communication after I dropped off my mac was very poor. The updates and responses were very slow through their online chat system. Super annoying that they never answered their phone either. I went in thinking I was going to get it the same day like Apple but it ended up taking 2 days. I won't do this again! read more

I was walking over to Best Buy's at Santa Row to have my battery replaced in my Apple I phone when I happened to see Mobile Kangaroo (a computer repair shop) I decided to walk in and ask if they could replace my battery. The service technician behind the counter said yes he could do that for me while I wait, should take about 1/2 hour and will coast $69. I asked what brand battery they used? He informed me that they are Apple certified and only use Apple factory batteries. As I waited for my phone repair another person walked in with a stuck key on her Apple laptop. She told the tech that her dog stepped on it and the key got jammed, the technician looked at it and said don't worry Apple has a recall on the keys doing just that, leave it with me and I'll repair it at no charge. (The guy obviously knows Apple products) 15 min went buy and he told me my phone was ready to go. Bottom line.... I don't know what Best Buy would have charged to do the repair but I'm all about supporting the mom and pop places in my community, not to mention the top notch service I received from Mobile Kangaroo. If I ever need other repair's I'm sure to go back and give them my business. Good job Mobile Kangaroo, good job. read more

I made an appointment through the Apple Support website for my 2019 Air with display issues. I got the confirmation email that I made the appointment, but there was no address for the shop listed in the email. There was a phone number. I called the number and the recording said the store was located on Winchester. When I got to the store, the girl behind the counter said she couldn't find my appointment in their system but that they would squeeze me in anyways. I thought that was nice but I was also annoyed that I waited a week for an appointment that they didn't even have in their system when I could have just dropped in. Fast forward to a couple days later... I get a phone call that my laptop's damage would not be covered under my warranty and that I would owe them $690 to fix the display. They said they would fix my keyboard at the same time for free because there was a recall on my particular keyboard model. I didn't want to spend nearly $700 to fix a $1000 laptop so I asked them to please do the keyboard while I think about whether I want them to fix the display or not. The technician said they would only fix my keyboard if I got the display fixed too. Ok so the keyboard has been recalled but you won't fix it as an Apple authorized store?? Cool. I picked up my non-functioning laptop from them the next week and brought it to COMPUTERLAND in Berkeley (Apple authorized as well). COMPUTERLAND originally quoted me $530 for the display but they were able to negotiate with Apple and got the fix covered under the warranty. I paid $0. And Mobile Kangaroo wanted $700....... I'm sort of at a loss for words. Berkeley is far but I saved $700 so I'd say it was worth it. This was just my experience with MK and it may or may not be an isolated experience. Just keep your options open and don't jump at whatever price they're telling you. Get some quotes and have other shops look at your laptop. A good thing is that the diagnostic fee is waived here if you have warranty. Otherwise it is $65 or something. If you have to pay the diagnostic fee, I would consider other shops first bc this one is expensive without warranty. Parking lot in the back and street parking in the front. read more

All said and done, he didn't even have the parts needed to complete the service. He said it was going to take 3 days for the part to arrive plus another 3 days for the repair. Not Recommended - Go to a real Apple store instead I visited this store in 2020. They charge about $60 for diagnostics or $120 for diagnostics for liquid damage. This is free at the Apple store. They quoted my repair to be $934 due to liquid damage. They would have to mail it to Apple to repair it anyways. They offered data recovery attempt for $200 and a successful recovery for $300. The estimated cost of repair was greater than my laptop, so I got it fixed at a local store for $270 with free diagnostics. 3 years later it is still working fine. The only reason I came here was because it was a very limited amount of appointments Apple was offering during the pandemic. oh my!! where do i start? These guys are supposed to be an authorized apple service store. My apple computer crashed on me and i took it to fix the laptop. the only reason is because they had a same day availability compared to the Apple store. BIG mistake! When i took the computer they first charge you $100 to even look at the computer. then they don't really give you a quote until the following day. That should have been the red flag. a week later they said that my computer will be ready in a week. overall it took 2.5 months for my computer to get ready. i lost all my data and i wanted them to retrieved everything and export to a new hard drive. Which costed me extra $150. The total came out to be 2.5 months later and over $250 from the original quoted price. Please never got to this establishment. Just got to the Apple store. This guys were great. My Macbook had a keyboard issue that was covered by Apple to get replaced. Mobile Kangaroo was easy to walk in, drop off my laptop for a few days, and pick it up. Hi I would give zero stars if that was possible. This is regarding REPAIR # : 525321 @ San Jose , Winchester location. I took my MacBook Pro for repair assessment as it had stopped charging from both ports. The technician claimed it was water damage and charged me $120 water damage assessment fees and quoted $1700 tier 4 cost for repairs. I could not believe it. I took it to the Apple Genius Bar for assessment. They sent it to the "official" repair center and replaced the faulty IO cable for free as the laptop is still under hardware warranty. I am disappointed by the job done at mobile Kangaroo. I lost so much time. Over that, the location also charged me $120 for no reason while my laptop was still under hardware warranty. Due to COVID and stores closed and after talking directly with an Apple rep, Apple requested that I take my watch to a local authorized dealer due to the "screen replacement program" on my specific watch series. As soon as I took my watch in for my scheduled appointment, the service person immediately told me that I would need to pay for the repair due to me "dropping" my watch. I did not drop my watch, as the entire screen was came apart from the watch and still intact in ONE piece. I needed a new battery for my iPhone 6s as it was degrading badly. I've went to the Apple store but was told there were no more batteries and to check back at another time. I checked with Mobile Kangaroo as they are an Apple Authorized Service Provider and was told to come on in whenever I had time. Customer service was great and not as crazy as the Apple store and they promised to have my phone back in 20-30 mins, which they did deliver. 0 stars!!!! An employee on 2/17/24 for my 2:40 pm appointment was rude, dismissive, greedy, and impolite. Not only was I interrupted every time I tried to answer his questions, he stood in the back of the room behind multiple cabinets/counters, and had ME do all the work. He would call out instructions to me across the room and they were almost always incorrect or unhelpful. He kept reiterating my issue had to do with water damage, even after I paid him a ridiculous diagnostic fee, which concluded NO WATER! He then told us there was no solution, but that I had the option to pay him MORE to use his "machine" to restore my phone. He explained that we had no other option except to pay him some money or pay our phone company, Verizon, hundreds of dollars. So now, post-machine, My phone is on factory settings, NOT FIXED- and actually, incapable of even being set up as a phone now. It is an unusable BRICK. Besides the service being unhelpful, and the fact he BROKE my phone, the person himself was so unprofessional. He refused to even walk over to us and instead sat down in the back of the room like we were diseased. He would ask me questions about the phone and then interrupt me in the middle of the sentence as if he didn't care. I would explain something COMMON SENSE about the phone's issue and he wouldn't even understand (or of course, interrupt me again). How do I know more than the expert does? He even went as far as admitting he couldn't do anything, and suggested I use my "extra phone". Who has extra phones?! Because I am not rich, naturally, I only have one. What a slap in the face to explain I can't afford anything expensive but to have him charge me and then laugh because I only had one iphone. I went here seeking help for an issue with my phone that I did not even cause, and yet I was belittled by this employee and the horrible establishment. Do not go here. Apple contacted Mobile Kangaroo to set up my appointment to have my MacBook Air OS software upgraded, but said I had to get to the store by 5:30. I got there early at 5:15 and the guy behind the counter said I didn't have an appointment but remembered talking to Apple Support about my computer. Then he said I had to leave the computer and come back another day. I needed an appointment to drop off my computer? Had a really great experience with Mobile Kangaroo today. Dropped off my Mac book for a keyboard warranty repair and couldn't have been happier with the service. Communication was outstanding. I got frequent reminders and updates on the status of my order and they were honest on their timelines. First negative review I've made anywhere. The workers in the back seem good at their job, however the communication overall and from those at the front was terrible. My MacBook suddenly died, diagnosis was done well and came back that my motherboard was done. Too much to fix so I opted to buy a new MacBook and get the hard drive transferred over... this unfortunately took longer than expected (which happens) my problem was with the 4 unanswered voicemails I left, 6 trips to the store overall, ending with me taking the brand new MacBook home and then not telling me the password they had placed on it 'there was meant to be a post it note on the top' was not a good enough explanation. Again, job was done well and can understand the time and how busy they are but; 1) answer the phone or get back to people. 2) give information to people when they ask if 'this is ready to go when I open it so I can do my work'. This is my first experience with any computer repair place and I'm glad I tried Kangaroo Mobile! I have to say, although I'm not entirely sure my "fix" will hold (it's a weird issue), but their customer service and patience with explanations and answering my questions have definitely earned my respect! They were even very patient with answering my DIY questions, which they obviously don't need to entertain as it doesn't make them money. Eric fixed My MacBook Pro keyboard malfunction which was eligible for "keyboard service program" with butterfly type keyboard. He told me that he exchanged whole keyboard, touchpad, Touch Bar and even battery! As it is in service program, everything was for free, but what I'd like to insist is that the speed is so fast. I dropped off my MBP on Saturday and returned on Tuesday. You can make an appointment thru Apple support page because this shop is authorized service provider. Prior to that, I visited here when the same MBP display had a crack and replaced whole display. At that time Miguel had handled my case and he tried to lower my cost by calling Apple support because I had bought Apple care+ type of insurance when I purchased my MBP. But it turns out that Apple care protection plan for MacBook which covers accidental display damage had started half year or one year after the Touch Bar type MacBook come out. So my plan was not eligible for this case. But I like his attitude to pursue customer satisfaction. Apple Store around here is so crowded and it is difficult to make an appointment on the same day you need the help. So I recommend to use this shop when you have any trouble with Apple products. I want to give them many many fives. My MacBook stopped working the first week of isolation. You can imagine what I felt - to be without communication at this time. I called them and we scheduled an appointment in MK in San Jose. I was a little bit scary to go. But they organized the business in the best and safest way: no physical contact, only online interaction, no other clients. I had my MacBook's screen completely repaired within 2 hours of dropping it off on Monday. Going to an Apple Store would've taken at least 4 days to even book and appointment! Martin was very knowledgeable, described the potential problems as soon as I dropped of the computer, set clear expectations for best/worst cases from the outset, and fortunately it ended up being the best case - the repair was very easy, and because the computer was still covered by Apple Care, it was free of charge, too. read more

My Mac had been acting weird for some time before isolation and I was able to make an appointment at the store Then the malls were shut down. Anyways, they know nothing. They want to charge you $600 plus to "maybe see if the screen is the problem or or could be the motherboard and if it is then we refund you" BS!! I ask to speak to a manger or how to escalate this issue and they say there is none and to take it up to. Wtf. I also know for a fact my comptroller did not have a screen break as I've NEVER dropped it and it was just slow and actually turning on before. I've used Mobile Kangaroo (S. Winchester St) for my Macbook Pro built-in keyboard and trackpad under my apple care warranty. The first visit was smooth sailing as I got my laptop back within a day, however, the same problem came back 2 weeks later. I did not think that this was due to Mobile Kangaroo because I thought they performed repair with due diligence. I trusted them so I decided to take my laptop to Mobile Kangaroo again. I got a phone call that my laptop is operating normally the day of. The person who called me said I'm free to come to pick up my laptop. When I showed up at the store, the store was locked. I had thought that I was going to be in and out like last time, boy was I wrong. I waited in front of the store for about 30 mins. I saw the worker pull up with his Mobile Kangaroo car so naturally, I thought that he will open the door for me. Nope, I waited even longer. I knew he was in the building because his car was there and he was not in the car. I kept banging on the door because I had other errands/ conference call I needed to go on. After another 20 mins he finally opened the door and told me "your banging is a bit crazy" So I told him that I called in and told whoever picked up the phone that I would be coming in. He said that it was his lunchtime and I said still that I notified them that I was coming and if he was going to be on lunch, he should have told me when I called in. He responded, "so am I not supposed to have lunch?" As if he is right to make me wait outside for almost 50 minutes AFTER I called in and CONFIRM that I would be picking up my laptop. The worker acted as if I should know their store lunch schedule which was not posted in the front door. At this point, I'm very heated so I dropped everything and left after making sure that my laptop was operating. When I got home I open my laptop back up to get some work done, I find out that the same problem is persisting. Replaced my corrupt imac hard drive. They asked if I wanted to install High Sierra on there and I said yes. When I received the computer, Yosemite was installed. The screen was also placed back on out of alignment. When questioned about it, they said it would slowly align itself over time (complete lie). Fast-forward a couple months later the hard drive is showing as corrupt again... I sent it back in to get fixed and requested to have Yosemite installed this time, and they said they couldn't. And instead could only install High Sierra. So far the hard drive has been okay. There were a few instances where I ran into trouble with updating the OS, or the computer would not shut down without a hard shutdown. The screen is also realigned, but now there is a permanent smudge on the bottom-left that I did not notice until I placed a white background there. read more
