I was referred to this company by a disabled man I met on the bus; he was using an electric mobility scooter, which is something that I want and need. He explained how he went through Austin Wheelchair, so I called them and sent them an e-mail to the "Contact Us" e-mail address on their website. I asked what I needed to get the balling rolling so I can get an electric scooter through my insurance company due to my disability. When I didn't get a response, I called them from the doctor's office, and the receptionist told me that I needed a prescription from my doctor ordering either a mobility device or an assessment for one. As a result, I got the required note from my physician and sent it in to Austin Wheelchair as instructed. The receptionist also gave me the name and e-mail address of the gentleman who would deal with me. I then e-mailed the note to Austin Wheelchair to the gentleman per the receptionist's instructions and to the e-mail address mentioned in their website. Again, no response. After not receiving a response, I then called the company receptionist, Stacey, the next day to confirm that they had received my e-mails and attachments, and she confirmed that they did. She spoke to the person who either owns or manages the company, and he specifically forwarded my e-mails & dr's note to the gentleman who is supposed to handle my application and he would call me asap. It''s been two days and no attempt to contact me via any means. If they are too busy to be able to handle my business, then I don't want to deal with them; likewise, if they are too lazy to deal with me, then the future doesn't look bright if I use this company. Hopefully I'll have better luck with a different company. UPDATE: It's been 3 days and still no response of any kind. I contacted a different company with good reviews here in Yelp, and they began corresponding with me immediately, got my insurance company info (which is through my employer the City of Austin), asked for necessary information, and I'm going to go in an look at devices this week. It did not (like a child digging in their heels). At this point, I accepted that my car had entered its "I'm tired and I quit" era. Cue roadside assistance....Alpha Roadside Services and Battery. Thankfully, help arrived before I had time to spiral into Googling "How to survive permanently stranded in your driveway." The roadside assistance technician showed up calm, professional, and completely unfazed by my dramatic retelling of events. Within minutes, they diagnosed the issue, got things sorted out, and brought my car back to life like some kind of automotive wizard. What could have turned into a full‑blown inconvenience (or emotional breakdown) ended up being quick and painless. No lectures, no eye‑rolling...just efficient help and a running vehicle again. The car was not tired, but the battery was a bit weak. While roadside service was free through our insurance plan, we had to pay for battery, which was reasonably priced. When I got to AutoZone, they didn't even have a 5yr battery for my truck. The 4yr they had they said "would work" but wasn't fitted properly for my vehicle so "might move around" (say what???). AND their batteries were more expensive. So I called Jimmel and he offered to meet me at my house where he got me taken care of in a jiffy. Better batter, lower price, more convenient and it comes with the same warranty you'd get when buying at a store like Auto Zone or anywhere else. They were nice and patient with me each time I called and always answered promptly. We went out to get everything out of my car and they provided a cart to put things in and Jason was so nice and stayed a little late to make sure we were all set and had me sign the release form to my insurance. When I called to switch to the other driver's insurance, they did it with zero issue. When my car was finally towed to Caliber, I received a call letting me know! I also wanted to add that I am not sure if the tow truck driver who picked up my car after my accident works for Rocha's, but he was also so nice and patient while I waited for my boyfriend to get me. My car was dead, but he was able to get all four doors open so I could at least crawl in and get some stuff from the back.
