I am a physician who did not initially believe in acupuncture and was skeptical at first, but I decided to give him a try. My first problem was a partial rotator cuff tear and I had been suffering with daily pain for 1 year. The pain was 24/7. I was told by an orthopedic sports medicine doctor that surgery was my my only choice to correct my problem. Needless to say, Yan corrected my problem and now I have been pain free and very active with sports and working out in the gym without any problems. I had sciatica next and he resolved that for me. I had a trigger finger problem and he resolved that for me. I have sent many patients to him with severe migraine headaches and they have all been very pleased with their good results. I have sent patients to him with severe menstrual cramps and they too were very pleased with their results. I sent one patient to him with a ganglionic cyst on his wrist and he was already scheduled for surgery. I told him to cancel his surgery and give Yan a try. I had lost the feeling in my knee to upper leg to my waistline and a bit above. I was using a cane and in severe pain from being able n a hospital for several months and loss of my memory . I was dealt a severe case of septic arthritis and had so much of the virus in my body from the ability to answer people and discuss anything without realizing what was going on. 1 1/2 months and 7 hospitals before being diagnosed . 5 months of intense acupuncture treatments and a gym trainer I was able to walk with out assistance and my memory lapse took over 6 years and still have issues with but I'm alive and can run on a treadmill. She also provides Chinese herbal medicines that work in tandem, but focuses on acupuncture as a main treatment. She is very good with patients and has a good bedside manner. She is very accomodative to scheduling and works with you. Many people are skeptical of needles being inserted, but it is done with skill and Dr Ruiping knows the acupuncture points very well. As an anesthesiologist, who is more than familiar with the failed back surgery syndrome, I was interested in alternative therapies. I looked up Dr Groopman, who is boarded in internal medicine, emergency medicine as well as acupuncture. He brings a broad perspective to his practice and he is very thorough in his initial examinations; as a physician, he is able to bring a multimodal approach to pain control, not just using acupuncture, and his treatments of my wife's back pain have proved extremely effective. A more caring empathetic physician would be hard to find and we both feel very grateful that he is taking care of us. We both recommend him very highly. As an addendum, I recently developed trigeminal neuralgia. After seeing a neurologist who prescribed a MRI and medication, I went to Dr Groopman, who had just recently presented a case report on his successful treatment of trigeminal neuralgia using acupuncture. I received a course of treatments and it's been two weeks since my last one. It would seem that the condition is in remission. I am thrilled.
