My last meal was a disappointing takeout experience with Moby Dick for dinner. I received a small piece of fish and packets of tartar sauce that tasted more like mayo. The crinkle fries were the highlight but still not enough to keep this spot on our list for fish.

I've eaten at other Moby Dick locations and have usually found the food to be high quality and very good tasting. This location is no exception. I ordered the Whale Sandwich which was two very large pieces of fish and bread. The fish was delicious. Fried just right and not over cooked. Also ordered an extra order of Fried Clams. I don't get to eat them very often so I thought I would give myself a treat. They were also fried just right and it was a nice generous portion. My star score would have been higher, but the wait staff were not at all friendly and never cracked a smile. Also I had to wait 30 minutes for my order. I had to go to the counter to ask if they forgot my order as I kept seeing order after order come out. After standing at the counter for another 10 minutes I finally got my order. Needless to say I'm going to find another location next time I'm hungry for fish.

The fried cod fish box for two was ubiquitous as a Louisville institution throughout my childhood and before that time period even. It use to be quite the competition as to which restaurant had the best fish, best hush puppies, best onion rings, and even best tarter sauce. In my childhood one restaurant chain's claim was that they received their cod fish fresh daily from Fulton Fish Market in Chicago. So you can see the competition was quite fierce in those days. Today sadly this has become a fast dying culinary art/tradition of the Louisville area. Almost no one serves actual true Cod these days and very few hand dip their own onion rings in batter. Moby Dicks is the the one solitary exception that remains of the old culinary tradition. I am a huge proponent of authentic ethnic food whether it is country cooking or French fine dining. Moby Dicks still serves it up old school and traditional, they use true cod and they use real fresh whole onions. You simply cannot beat the flavor and taste of their offerings. Although some Moby Dicks are more equal than others. This particular location is one of the best Moby Dicks still in existence. (I am still mourning the closure of the St. Mathews location.) I have been eating Moby Dicks for at least 5 decades now and it's still as good as it ever was and I highly recommend it for the old school Louisville fried fish box for two experience. Als because they do use real true cod fish it is priced accordingly. Everyone is so nice here and they move orders very quickly! It is my go to place for Fried Cod Fish in Louisville!

Food is good but I'm not a fan of the workers working without gloves or mask. Yes mask! I personally feel anyone working over food should always have a mask and hair tie or hat on. Workers were in there wiping off trays and handling food. Gross! Glad a different guy came out and handed me mine.

That's gonna be a no from me dawg. Wasn't sure you could really go wrong with fried food but they managed to do it somehow? I think overall the place just needs to be redone. Very outdated and old. I have never eaten here or any MD for that matter, so I can't compare it to anything else. I was in a hurry and it was literally the only thing across the street. I ordered through the drive-through with a not so friendly worker, all I got was a fish sandwich fries and a drink. The fries were cold and awful, the bread was stale but I was somehow was able to eat half the fish before throwing the whole thing away. I had to pay extra for sauce and I couldn't believe how expensive it was for what I received. Never again.

Hot, fresh Moby Dick Seafood with onion rings!

Hot and fresh! Whale of a sandwich. Crispy fish, delicious onion rings. Diet coke was flat, but I'm hoping that's a short-term issue.

Wow... this place should close. Crazy prices for their soggy food in kid meal proportions. No thanks

Try the WAKY special-fish, bread (I like the rye), fries or onion rings and a drink.

Other diners chose the Pina colada and also a Friday cocktail special of Holy Water, which included blue curaçao. Feedback was mixed. We started with 1/2 pound of hot and spicy peel and eat shrimp and a dozen oysters. Great preparation and taste. It was apparently all so good and we had such a great time that we forgot to take photos of the food. We shared steamer bowls and a captain's platter. This allowed for a variety of crab legs, steamed oysters, sausages, corn, red potatoes, garlic Parmesan bread, shrimp, grouper, onion rings, clam strips, along with butter, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. We had arrived famished and we all left satiated and carrying out To Go boxes. Our server was fantastic, helping us relocate inside when the storm popped up, and very attentive through our entire visit. Looking forward to future visits and more great seafood.

We definitely found the right place. The patio area with the Koi pond and waterfall was perfect. My wife and I had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Selena's Crab Caps. I'm not sure if the $2 version was a smaller size or only offered at certain times, but honestly... the drinks were still worth it. The flavor was amazing, and unlike a lot of brunch drinks that taste watered down, these were actually strong. Two glasses definitely had me feeling tipsy, so I can't complain too much there. The main reason I took off a star was the parking situation and accessibility concerns. The handicap parking is positioned perpendicular to the main road, which honestly feels unsafe when backing out. If someone already has mobility or visibility limitations, backing directly into a busy road can be stressful and dangerous. The rest of the parking area is also gravel, which can be difficult to navigate with mobility aids, wheelchairs, walkers, or even just for someone unsteady on their feet. It's one of those situations where it's great that handicap parking exists close to the entrance, but the actual setup still creates challenges. Outside of that, the drinks themselves were genuinely really good, the atmosphere was fun, and I'd probably still come back for another brunch date.

Ordered the steak burrito dinner, and let me tell you--the steak was seasoned perfectly. Also tried the birria tacos, and the flavor was MUY BUENO! The Cantarito drink is solid as well as the Paloma which really stood out--refreshing and well-balanced. The bar was impressive with a great selection of tequila and bourbon. I was pleasantly surprised to see Eagle Rare on the shelf, which you don't find everywhere. Also, if you're lucky to have Abby as your bartender, consider yourself blessed in life and go play lottery. She's truly an extremely dope spirit The place was clean, and for a Saturday night, the service was surprisingly fast. All in all, highly recommend if you're looking for quality food, get right drinks, and amazingly great service!

Rich, flavorful, and completely addictive, it disappeared fast. The warm butter rolls arrived alongside pesto butter, but I stayed loyal to regular butter. No regrets. A quick shoutout to our server, Devante. He was new, but you'd never know it. Friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, he handled everything like a seasoned pro and made the experience even better. For dinner, I ordered the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. While the chicken was excellent, the Brussels sprouts stole the show--perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and easily the standout item on my plate. Dad went with the Mediterranean chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. The chicken was a winner, though the broccoli was a bit tougher than expected. Mom chose the voodoo shrimp and fries, but honestly, her true love affair of the evening was with the lobster dip. I'm fairly certain she consumed enough of it for the entire table. By this point, we were all happily full. But there was still one reason to save room. The strawberry shortcake. Light, sweet, and absolutely unforgettable, it was the highlight of the entire meal. The kind of dessert that quiets the table and leaves everyone smiling after the last bite. That alone is reason enough to come back.

The cocktail menu features several cocktail specialties, a deep wine and bourbon menu, some other spirits, and a variety of primarily KY brewed beers. I had a couple of the latter options, and each of my two beers (neither of which I'd had before, a "Stone House" traditional lager and a "Kentucky Commons" low ABV cream ale). Our table split a couple of appetizers--the chili wantons and the spinach dip. Both were good with the slight edge to the wantons as they were fairly unique and very flavorful. The menu is not overwhelming--there are just over a dozen or so primary entree options but each looked very promising. I ended up going with the special, which that night was sea bass on jasmine rice with tomatoes. The sea bass was parmesan encrusted and super flavorful, literally every bite of my meal was on point. Great sauce that wasn't overwhelming, the fish and rice perfectly cooked, the little cherry tomatoes the best I've had all season. My wife had the fish tacos and loved them as well. Service was friendly. For the quality and ingredients, prices were fair. I'd say the drinks are even cheap. Dessert looked great, but none of us had room to try any. It was a rainy night and we were in the basement area, which is covered but doesn't have full enclosure, so it was loud as the rain hit the side covering, but dry and nice overall. We noticed two of the bar areas were empty on our way out, which looked like nice quiet places to meet. There's also the full upstairs dining room which looked nice. Reservations highly recommended.
