I had high hopes for Moby Dick after hearing so many people rave about it, and there were definitely some highlights, but also a few things that left me underwhelmed. First, the good: I really appreciated the extra piece of fish! The batter was beautifully crisp and golden, and the fish itself was flaky and fresh. Classic comfort food vibes. That said, the meal ended up sitting really heavy. I don't usually feel nauseous after fish and chips, but this one left me feeling overly full and a bit off, which surprised me. The Caesar salad I ordered was drenched in dressing...now, I do like my salad well-dressed, but this was way over the top, even for me. Also, it felt a bit stingy to charge extra for tartar sauce. I get if you want to charge for extra portions, but a small serving should really come standard with a fish and chips order.

The ambience with the ocean view is perfect to Build up your appetite for Seafood... good menu selection of seafoods and corn dogs and a cocktail selection as well . We tried the seafood chowder which was ok... .... The fish was only one type , waitress said Calhk , which I didn't know about ... it didn't taste as good as cod or snapper which I hope they can offer so I can consider to come back sooner... Fish was a deal get one piece free with every order but charge for Tartar sauce?? The service was great and friendly as its family run which gives more reason to support them over the corporate fish n chips places ... so you don't have to phish around ...

We came on a Saturday and this place had a line out of the door. We decided to try this place and the place next door. You can read my review there. We ordered the 1 piece fish and chip ($16.25), oyster burger ($12.95) and tartar sauce (0.75). The fish and chips were very generous. The chips were not anything special but the fish was lightly fried not overly oily. Flaky and overall not bad. Love that it's served in a box so it's easy to take out The oyster burger was HUGE and very worth it for the price. It had a lot of vegetables in it and the oysters tasted not sandy or too seafoody. I would order the oyster burger again The tartar sauce was nothing special but I can't eat fish and chips without it so I had to order it. We were 10th in line but our order came out pretty fast (15 minutes approx).

1 piece cod and chips. All orders come with an extra piece of fish.

It was outta the sun, we sat inside, in the back. Was a table for two beside the restroom door, the sounds echoed in the small back alcove.... Anyway. We both ordered the 1 piece cod and chips. I found a Steamworks IPA, bless their hearts and the boss decided on water. For as busy as they were, they took our order pretty quick, and the food arrived fresh, hot and crispy, in no time at all. Delicious, hit the spot on a week long craving for fish and chips.

Eh, super greasy fish. One of the pieces of fish was pretty bad. Bad as in mostly breaded and a tiny bit of fish. After finishing my meal, I felt sick. And I have a strong stomach, rarely feel affected. The fries were OK. Overall , average at best. The award of the best fish and chips...maybe from many years ago. The recipe doesn't work In 2024.... As this food is average at best.

Good service and ambiance is exactly as it should be! Love love love this spot and will do the drive to enjoy it every time we can!

2 Piece Fish & Chips - yes it comes with a 3rd piece.

Large portion sizes, seaside water views. Perfect for a sunny day near the beach. The fish pieces here were massive. I was able to share the 2 pieces with my partner as it came with 3 pieces. Oil was probably a tad dirty as the batter looks quite dark. However, taste was not compromised. Clam chowder was a bit on the smaller side and wasn't as filling with clams or cream as I'd have liked. This place does get very busy so service is as good as can be expected under the circumstances on a busy sunny day. Pricing is on the steeper side but comparable to other eateries in the vicinity. Don't venture out here often but it was a nice day so this hit the spot for what was to be expected

My SO and I just passed the border and we were asking ourselves "where to now?". We decided to try the fish and chips in the area. This is the nearest restaurant that pinged on our location. And the GPS took us in circles. Instead of saying turn left, at the end of the road. She wanted me to take right and take a sharp left. Huh!!! I didn't listen to her the second time and we just turned left. Voila!! The restaurant is just right there. Duh!! Now the review The restaurant doesn't have a complicated menu. We ordered each of 1pc Fish & Chips. Unbeknownst to us, it comes with an extra piece. Wonderful!! More for us to eat. Haha. The fish is piping hot upon serving, crispy outside but juicy and tender inside. In no time, we ravished our food. We will surely come back again. Especially when the weather is nice to enjoy the patio. Small but busy place. People are in and out. Maybe it be a couple or a big group. Lovely decors. Bathroom facility is clean. Good customer service. Ample paid parking lots across the street.

I was hesitant on a place for fish and chips given that there were so many restaurants that serve it in the area, but eventually ended up at Moby Dick. My friend and I shared an order of 1 piece of fish and chips because we weren't too hungry, but wanted to make a pit stop for some fish and chips. Keep in mind that your order comes with an extra piece of fish! When we got our order, we were so glad we ordered just the 1 piece. The portions here are huge! The fish pieces were huge and it came with an big portion of fries, which is always appreciated. We took our box across the street and sat on a bench right in front of the water. It was the perfect setting for a perfect meal. The one thing is that you have to pay for tartar sauce, which is a bit disappointing considering that's something that ties your meal together. The fish wasn't too oily and had a good balance of batter to fish ratio. Overall would definitely come back for the food and the environment!

This place has been my go to place for Fish & Chips in White Rock for its quality & value for years. Mind you it is super busy on a sunny day. I went recently to order a take out. I was surprised the fish size shrunk. It used to be as long as their serving plate and now width of the fries tray? I'm not going to comment on the price as I understand everything gone up. The worst experience is that when I get the tray, all the fries are all over and are small ends. I feel like I got served a tray of prisoner meal. Is it because I didn't tip much? You know, there are other choices right next door & down the road that taste better. Think twice.

One of the locals told us we should go here and they weren't wrong! The fish and chips were great! We ordered the cod and when you order you get a free piece so there were 4 of us and we order two 2 piece (3 in each plate) and it was perfect! The batter on the fish was so good light and crispy . The fries were good but it was a bunch of short pieces my pet peeve

We were awfully greedy for two people, so we bought 5-pieces of fish and chips. It was delicious but we felt it could use more salt. The fish was crispy and moist though we felt like it must have been cooked when it was still frozen; as some bits were tougher than usual to bite. Regardless, the portion was generous and overall, it was delicious. Will definitely buy it again when we feel like fish and chips. The service was fabulous. Love how generous they are with everything. Their special touch, i.e. an extra piece of fish is so special; I have zero complaints.

    Very generous portions.

She was on the ball, full of life, with a great smile. It was Wednesday, and you get 30% off wine, so why not share a bottle? I had a Caesar Salad and Mussels, and my better half had the Braised Short Rib Poutine. The Caesar was fresh, and the dressing was as expected. It was drizzled with Balsamic that added a nice twist as it was just a very small amount. Some chefs overdo it and in my mind, run the salad. The mussels had a red sauce that made me nervous at first. I'm traditional and like a garlic butter sauce. I was pleasantly surprised! It was light, and if I didn't see the color, I would have thought it was a lemon garlic sauce, amazing! The Poutine did not have a lot of meat, but the flavor was excellent and overall a great dish. If you are looking for a wonderful view on the coast with a great vibe, this is it! It's like the old-style beachfront place you would find in a movie. Seating is upstairs and its just has this old world feeling. Give it a try!

On their site the ask for a 2 hour time limit and I can see why. Service was a tad slow for my liking but it was quick enough. They gave a large menu and that includes many fish dishes. A good place to go if you want fish. I had the lamb shank which was delicious. Everything was hot when it came to the table. I'm a stickler for being served dinner. One diner ordered the crab bisque. They were sorry the didn't order the bowl. Lots of crab in it. Scallop and prawn salad was ordered and it was very good. The curry Kahula was excellent. The one down fall of this evening was the noise. It is open floor and tables were packed in there. There were a couple of larger parties seated as well. You are on the second floor and I didn't notice how to get a wheel chair or walker to the floor. Had to dock a star for the noise and handicap assesability. You also look out over the ocean and area and sunsets could no be beat having dinner there a must return place to try other dishes

Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.
