I never felt awkward or uncomfortable with her, and she was knowledgeable about what style I wanted (a more modernized hime cut). I let her know I wanted to keep the length of my hair and that my natural hair is wavy, so if there's a way to have the cut without my natural hair turning it into some mess. After reading the reviews, I decided to book an appointment. I called when the Salon was off for a few days, but they were very prompt in returning my call on the day they said they'd be back. Unfortunately,​ though, Kengo was booked for the next 4 weeks! That was going to put me at over 3 months since my last haircut, but I decided to give it a go. When the day finally arrived, I was really looking forward to trying a new stylist. And, given the reviews I read here, I was hoping Kengo would offer some suggestions on a good style and cut for my hair/face. Bottom line: This place did not disappoint and I look forward to returning! Kengo and his assistant are also really lovely people. Let's start with the shampoo -- it was the most luxurious and relaxing shampoo I have ever had. The assistant (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name) spent at least 15 minutes washing and conditioning my hair. She even put a soft cloth that covered my eyes and nose so I would not get wet from the spray. She gently rinsed and washed my hair, and massaged my scalp. It felt like a spa treatment. Then, it was time for Kengo to cut my hair. I gave him a little of my 'hair history' and told him I would appreciate​ his guidance on a style for me. He was so thoughtful and his technique was amazing -- for the cut and the styling (blow drying, brushing, etc.). He showed me a new way to dry and style my hair that I had never seen before. He got my hair to behave and l love my new haircut. In fact, the next day I went out and purchased the same kind of brush he used and a leave-in conditioner (not the same brand he used because I could not find it) and using his technique, I was able to get my hair to look and feel so soft and shiny. If you are looking for a thoughtful and highly-skilled stylist, look no further. And, I felt well-cared for, in a way I've never felt at a hair salon. I would have given zero stars if it was allowed. I had a very bad experience at this place. They try to pretend they are vey busy and will never give you appointment in a week's or two week's time. They are not that busy as I visited this place twice and both the times it was empty. If you check Yelp review they praise Kango. But trust me he is not that great. The first time he cut my hair, he did it in few minutes and was not interested in the haircut and there was no conversation period! I had to propose my own style as he did not suggest anything. I was not happy with the stylizing. I remember going to another salon and that person did a fantastic job by cutting in layers and was warm and made me feel welcome. This time I called in for appointment they were again trying to play the old game by saying we are booked till OCT end (more than a month out). This was the day when all salons got approval from the county that they can open. Until then all salons were closed. I called the same day when the announcement was made and they got booked till Oct end? Not only that she confirmed my appointment at that time during the call and now when I called in after a month they tell me that they never put the appointment down! This makes me feel that they do not want to entertain South Asian clientele. HORRIBLE SERVICE and very rude. They do not care about their customers. THEY WILL NEVER Answer your call. They will callback after 2-3 days. Absolutely NO respect for customers. There are many who can do a better job. I would not recommend this place. No Professionalism at ALL. read more

It's been a long time since I've felt really good after getting a hair cut but Kengo has a magic touch. He is very easy to talk to and will listen to what you want. Believe me when I say this, just trust the man when he gives you a suggestion. It will work out :) I also got the 4-step hair treatment. I originally wanted to try the carbonated scalp treatment but after talking to Kengo's assistant about what I wanted, she suggested the hair treatment instead. It was nice to talk it out with someone and I learned a lot about the process. The salon is very clean and has a very humble look. Nothing crazy, just the necessities. Nobody else was there during my appointment and when the phone rang, Kengo didn't leave me to pick it up. He let it go to voicemail and was truly focused on my hair. My favorite part of this whole experience was at the very end when Kengo basically walked me through what he did with my hair and had style suggestions. They get booked up fast! So make sure you call or text to make an appointment. I would suggest contacting him 3-4 weeks out if you want a preferred time. read more

I think I found my new go to hair stylist. I use to go to Korean Hair Salon for the last five years. And I use to see Shannon there. But after she quit, I haven't been to happy with my last two haircuts there. So I decided to try out Kengo and K's Hair Salon. I was a bit surprised since it is pricey, but I have to say I don't think I've ever been happier with my haircut. It may not look like much, but I like to focus on the details and I think Kengo got everything right. He even taught me a little about my hair. During the haircut, he puts a lot of detail and attention making sure he is doing what you want. It's art for him. The little shampoo and wash and head massage they give after was great too.
