My friend recommended Salon Khang and I got in touch with Mr Khang immediately over text who was able to accommodate me the next day for a good hair color appointment. The vibe of the place was simple, quiet, very clean and efficient. He was very patient with me to help me understand the color combination for my hair. I got a balayage done and didn't want to go too light so no bleach for me, so he explained the options for me. The color that came out was very dark brown and tinge of red, so at the moment on my black hair you can't tell much but it looks good. He mentioned may be it will lighten after a few days so I think I'll wait to see how that turns out post a few weeks. I went there for hot oil treament for my hair dryness which Mr. Khang had told me he does it, but he did another treatment for me instead, without asking me or even explaining it to me. When I asked him if he used any oil since I got zero results and my hair is still frizzy he said he applies some conditioners on my hair!!! Salon Khang is a great, no frills kind of salon. Prices are reasonable. It's clean and well kept. Khang is efficient, personable, and easy to talk to. He doesn't push services on you, and doesn't over promise. I will warn: If you are looking for more of an experience like fun magazines, Mimosas, girls who shampoo your hair and conditioner with 3-4 types of super fancy stuff (and spend a good 10 min doing so)- this salon isn't for you. I've been to those salons and it's always so fun, but it's definitely pricey. Khang washed my hair in 5-6 min tops lol I reached out to Khang the night before and he tried to schedule me the next day but I didn't end up seeing him until the week's end. He was so accommodating and VERY responsive! Came by and found a parking spot right away. The lot is huge. The salon is right by the Sees so you can miss it. I had texted Khang photos of what I wanted and he definitely talked to me several times to see what I wanted in person, and then told me what was realistic. From there he did a quick chop off of 4 inches of hair , washed my hair and then trimmed, and blow dried it. All of it was so fast but very well done. Khang an experienced hair stylist clearly! I recently had a women's cut with Khang for $60. I believe I've finally found my go-to salon. In the past, I've paid for haircuts from $15 to $200 around the South Bay and SF. I can't say I was satisfied with my experiences and the end results. As someone who identifies as queer / LGBTQ, I usually have a hard time finding a place that can cut my hair. I noticed that past hair stylists were not comfortable with androgenous haircuts that deviate from typical women's hair cuts. I'm very thankful that my friend recommended Salon Khang! As many others have echoed, Khang is a very kind stylist who is calmly determined to create your desired haircut. During my first visit, I showed Khang photos of kpop mullets. He studied the photos and asked if I was interested in an undercut! I love this unprompted suggestion. To me, it showed that he was on the same page with me with creating an andro look. We continued to adjust the haircut as he created it, Khang kindly offered to styled my hair, and I left very happy with my final look and experience. This place is such a gem in the South Bay.
