I sent out inquiry about 240V outlet for EV charger installation through Yelp on Monday morning. Carlos reached out to me immediately but I was a bit busy, so I called him later in the afternoon. I got next day appointment at 8.30 am. By Monday evening, I realized I made a mistake on the type of plug I wanted install, so I texted Carlos at roughly 9.30 pm. Carlos replied immediately. This morning, Carlos came on time with the correct type of outlet I needed. I don't work on electrical stuffs myself, but I like learning about it so I was there looking over his shoulder during the installation. My main electrical panel is a bit tricky to work with because 80% of the box sunk inside the wall. Carlos had to drill the side panel, cut a box inside the wall to install the outlet, run metal conduit for the wiring from panel to the new outlet. Everything was done professionally and no shortcuts were taken. After the installation was done, the new circuit was fully tested, and everything was cleaned and vacuumed. I asked a lot of questions during the installation and Carlos was happy to explain. It is a good experience knowing that everything was done right with high quality. Carlos was responsive, punctual, straight forward, and offer high quality work. Out of six that replied to my requests for quotes, MOCA was the MOST honest! I've dealt with many contractors, you can pretty much tell them apart from initial communications if you can trust them. Even with all the correct information, they will not give you a estimate unless you set up appointment in person with them and some gives you outrageous laughable estimates, well...I never respond to those companies. So the thing that I really didn't want to happen, happened... my electrical panel fried - literally! I had smoke and sparks coming from the breakers and part of the panel had actually melted. So I got quotes and calls from several electricians. It ran the gamut - no response from some, some didn't want to entertain questions unless I committed to hiring them and then I spoke with Carlos at Moca. He came over the same day when I described what was happening and we planned the work to take place two weeks later. This was a big job - panel replacement and upgrade from 100 to 200 amp service, addition of a new circuit, some rewiring and a thorough inspection. He even helped me understand exactly how all the circuits run in this older house - due to so many different rewirings and additions over the years. Moca did an outstanding job. They showed up on time on a Saturday morning around 8 am. They completed the job before the sun went down, around 6:30 pm. I had no unnecessary disruptions, the work is clean and professional, my house is safe all the dimming lights and tripped breaker issues I was having are eliminated and we are all happy!
