I am a self-professed coffee addict, and love nothing more than a good afternoon in a coffee shop just about anywhere... But I haven't found anything I like as much as Mocha Monkey. Should I ever open a coffee shop, it would be based on the likes of Mocha Monkey. The ambience is perfect-- chill and incredibly cozy with a distinctly artsy vibe. That said, their food offerings are delicious and their WiFi actually works. I stop in every chance I get, which literally means I'm here once or twice a day every time I'm in town. This cafe is a must do for any coffee shop fan (or non; they have wine!) that happens through Waconia. read more

I took my husband there this morning for his first time. He had never been. We both enjoyed the ambience, friendly service, and delicious coffee drinks. It was the morning after a 12 inch snowfall. Mocha Monkey is everything a local coffeehouse should be: unique, quaint, and cozy. The list of specialty mochas is enough to make a coffee-loving chocoholic like myself flip. I am such an opportunist when it comes to trying new coffee that I had to try the Rhesus Mocha--it has peanut butter in it. It was surprisingly good but I would say try the banana flavors. After all, it is Mocha MONKEY. Another plus is the abundance of seating--people that frequent coffee shops know that this is a necessity especially at busy times. They have an upstairs with THREE ROOMS to choose from!! Great for studying or meeting up with large or small groups. I have never had one, but supposedly they are known for their sandwiches, as well. If you're out in the area or looking for a unique place to meet up it's a MUST. read more

I LOVE Mocha Monkey! The coffee is excellent and it has a relaxing vibe. It's definitely a a place you can stay a while and hang out at. I worked at a coffeeshop myself for 5 years, but I could never get my drinks to taste as good as Mocha Monkey's. Wish I knew their secret! Their blended coffee drinks are my favorite. It's in an old house in the middle of town and it's decorated artfully with a comfy downstairs and an upstairs space, too. They have a hot chocolate drink called the Dirty Snowman. Such a cute coffee shop! Love that they have food options, I will definitely be stopping back in again for lunch or a light snack. There are two floors but I never made it to the second level, I was too sucked into the cozy fireplace and available magazines. I had the Samosa Mocha, inspired by the girl scouts cookie, it was delish! Prices seemed reasonable to me, no different than going to a chain cafe. My little one liked reading their kiddo books. If you are an inspiring writer this place is for you. Mocha Monkey is a 2 leveled chill zone. I personally am a very successful writer who just hasn't been noticed yet. I have numerous pages of material that will open any mind. I have spent a many moons putting pen to paper at this here establishment and I am proud to say that I am a regular. I enjoy a vanilla latte every time. This here drink will put hair on your chest. Only the manliest man could even fathom drinking it. Now I put myself on top of that totem pole because I am a poised, humble individual who can see the truth even through the dense, moggy, fog that society creates to try to cloud and diminish difference in a common practice such as illustrating an impeccable short story. The owner treats his employees like crap, the downtown location has many issues and is really disgusting and unsanitary, with little bugs constantly flying around all over the bakery and drinks. I literally found one in my drink, and the prices are ridiculous for a small coffee place. Better off going to Starbucks or Caribou and getting more for your dollar's worth, also better quality. read more

Ambience relaxed...maybe a little bohemian. Staff friendly and efficient. Food superb. They do more with a panini maker than others with a full-sized kitchen. The vegetarian sandwich on a ciabatta roll was flavorable and fantastic. Soft, hot, feta and spinach pretzel was mouth watering. Hot tea. Sorbet bursting with flavor and palette cleansing. I forget the name of the vanilla ice cream/expresso float.....you getting the idea now? Not the same-o. All this goodness enjoyed in cut-offs, tank top and sandals! I got some ice cream and a coffee at this place with my friend the coffee was good but when I got my second one I decided to get almond milk with my coffee. When I got my coffee the almond milk was curdled and gross. I had to throw it away and wasted 5 dollars on a curdled iced coffee. read more

I absolutely love this place. They go above and beyond for customer service here, and the staff are so friendly. The owner is also an artist and his pottery can be found throughout the shop, it's unique and beautiful. Mocha Monkey is Waconia's gem.
