When on vacation on MV we have Mocha Motts every day and sometimes more. Rolling out of bed the first thing we do is go to Mocha Motts for bagels and coffee. Their bagels are fresh and their are several cream cheese flavors to choose from. My personal favorite is to get a toasted wheat bagel with scallion and bacon cream cheese. Their breakfast sandwiches are the best also because they make the eggs, bacon, and sausage, fresh to order. They take some extra time because of this, but they are well worth the wait. On the weekend they have "Sticky-E-Buns" that are a nice sweet treat. Most importantly is the coffee. The coffee is organic and I would argue the best coffee I've ever had. Even better than D+D or starbucks. They give their coffees different names each day. I typically get their medium blend or their mild blend if I want an iced coffee. Lastly, buy a travel mug and the refills are only $1.25. A great deal for such a great cup of coffee. Most years it really pays to get to Mocha Motts before 9am or the line will be out the door. If you've never been there the crowds and ordering can be a little intimidating. Trust me though if you brave them a few times you'll get the hang of things and the experience will be well worth an minor stress you have ordering. They also sell their coffee by the pound if you want to bring some home with you. read more

One of the cashiers knew a lot about coffee He made recommendations for coffee that I was going to use in my espresso machine. I got the Sumatran from Indonesia and I wish I knew how fabulous it was going to taste bc I would have ordered more than a pound! It's dark and rich w some spicy. Pretty good coffee. I ordered an egg wrap and it was tasty but it took about 20 minutes to get out and i was left standing in no mans land wondering if they actually had my order. If you're on island, Mocha Motts is a MUST!!! Great coffee and snacks and friendly staff. We were yelled at once by the man who works there because we accidentally grabbed the wrong sandwich, but besides him, everyone who works there is great! They care about the turtles too because they sell metal straws. Love it. read more

Mocha Motts is like the Starbucks of MV just way way better in every way possible. VH is always hands down 5 stars, they'll make you the most killer breakfast sandwich you e ever had. But their OB location has a cook who just doesn't seem to give any care into what they're putting out. The last 3 sandwiches I've gotten were a knockoff of what they make you in VH. Today I Wasted my money for the last time in ob, I should of known better. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a onion bagel, it was runny (undercooked), burnt and downright inedible. Obviously the breakfast person in ob has no passion for cooking. If you want to get the best of motts visit them in VH. read more

I needed coffee and it was a great cup of latte + 1 extra shot! It made my afternoon.

This was the only breakfast place I could find open early on a Saturday in October. The area surrounding the cafe felt like a ghost town but there was a hub of activity around Motts. I had a bacon egg and cheese and its one of the better ones Ive had lately. The egg tasted very fresh and I wonder if they are locally sourced from the island. Sadly, I never made it in to Mocha Motta in Vineyard Haven. I heard they had wifi and called to inquire. I work remotely and have a few projects to complete. The wifi in my rental does not work. I called this morning and asked politely if they had wifi. The gentleman yelled at me and said, "We're in the middle of breakfast mam. You'll have to call back later." I used to live with my mom on the island and I went to school there. Mocha Motts was an almost daily stop while I lived there. This is the best coffee around, better than anything I've had so far. They also have awesome baked goods and bagels. Bagel sandwiches are served at lunch if you need some caffeine with your mid time meal. No. Mediocre coffee, questionable food (except, to be fair, their soups in off-season, which are pretty good & seems safer, health-wise). Nothing to write home about, but it's local, so I was a reg customer, until, the owner lady ("I'M THE OWNER!! GRRR!!") had a nutty and informed me that my loyal patronage & excellent tipping would no longer be welcome while I wear my Google Glass. Last straw. My Glass is awesome, Mott's is not. Better coffee (Actual GOOD coffee, for you urban sophisticates visiting the island) and food are available nearby, with better parking, and without the snotty attitude. You're not missing much. Poor service. Mediocre coffee. 2 days, 2 wrong orders. Waited 20 min for a breakfast sandwich just to find out it was apparently sitting on the counter-top. Turned out to be the wrong order and had the cheese melted more than half way off the bagel. Employees are far from polite. This place tries way too hard to be hip with its music and atmosphere and falls short. It wants to be Bagel Rising in Allston, MA but just doesn't cut it. The bagel itself was pretty good. As a regular on the Vineyard, Mocha Motts in Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven is my go to coffee spot. I was in the Oak Bluffs location this past weekend. Had a great cup of flavored coffee and had a super yummy vegan cup cake. The folks at MM are super nice, very friendly, helpful, and excited about their coffee and service. I think the coffee guy might be on drugs but I wish I were on the same drugs because he is so nice and laid back and friendly and helpful. The location in Vineyard Haven is nicer, better outdoor space, the location in OB is downstairs and watch your step. read more
