Black Lychee Tea with unknown shredded chunks, not good.
    Mars P.

This place is "decent". Meaning nothing stood out and enticing me to come back and it was considerably edible. I was craving a Korean corndog and a lychee tea this place had both. Oh man I should've went Tim Boba or Boba Cafe then to Wienerschnitzel. I purchased the Super combo which comes with (1) Korean Corndog, (1) donut, and (1) drink for $15 which is a bit too overpriced given that quality and taste was quite unsatisfactory. The potato all mozzarella corndog, black lychee tea, and a strawberry donut were the items I got. *The corndog batter wasn't too thick, there was a nice amount of cheese, just wish there was more potatoes to get some of that potato flavor. Also, it tasted kinda generic and ever slightly old, but it could be the oil or the batter...maybe both. Anyways, when I received my corndog, the container was HOT (assuming the food was too) but when I took a bite it was warm? Like I took a bite immediately after receiving my order WHILE in the parking lot in my car. I got an initial cheese pull but after the one bite the cheese quickly lost its gooeyness and solidified fast. *The black lychee tea. Eeeeyuck! In all my days never had lychee tea this BAD and look soooo unappealing at the same time. It had little to none lychee flavor as the black tea overpowered the lychee, and was not refreshing at all. It was minimally sweetened (wasn't given the option to adjust the sweetness) which is fine but I would be prefer is slightly more sweet. On the bottom were these unknown, flavorless, shredded chunks taking around 1/4 of my drink. I assume it was lychee chunks? Regardless it was gross. I was unaware of this so it quite difficult to drink as it was unappetizing. Please for God's sake replace whatever the heck those shredded chunks were with an actual lychee, lychee jelly, or nothing and switch the tea from Black to Green. It is very off-putting and disgusting! *The strawberry donut was fine, tastes like a regular mochi donut; the strawberry flavor was strong, and nice, not overly sweet. The donut itself was soft, pillowy, chewy and not stale. As I was worried some of the donuts looked as though were. It was handed to me warm which I enjoyed but it did cause the most of the frosting to stick to the paper sleeve so that disappointing. But it's not the end of the world, in fact the donut was the only thing I actually finished. The overall atmosphere needs to improve, hardly any decor, no music, not really inviting. It gives off the impression of grab your food and leave, which is ironic given there's a seating area with nice chairs. But I was the only one there so that should've been an indicator of the overall experience. This place has sooo much potential but when you compare it to other boba shops and eateries nearby, this place truly misses the mark. Not a place I would hangout, study, grab a drink or eat food. Not sure if I'll be back. Maybe when they change a few things. But for now, I'll go elsewhere.

Stumbled upon this mochi donut place while visiting friends at UCR. This Mochi Lion is located near UC Riverside and it was easy to grab a box of mochi donuts for dessert. Parking is very convenient here. There's both a small parking lot and street parking available, so finding a spot is usually pretty easy compared to busier plaza locations . Definitely good for a quick in-and-out stop, which makes it even more appealing. When I entered the store, there was no one in sight. I had waited a few minutes before I called out to see if staff was around. When she came out she was also moving a bit slow and asked what I had wanted and I got a box of various donut flavors and was out the door. I have to say some of the donut were fresh and chewy and some you can tell were sitting around and tasted a bit stale. I think next time I visit here, I will ask for which flavors that are recently made fresh and go from there. Also will try their Nu Scoops high protein low calorie ice cream and mochidog next time I'm in the neighborhood.

The place has a few things to offer. The service was on point and she was helpful. Everything was delicious.

I haven't been back in a while during my time at UCR, but my most recent visit was great! Mochi Lion is under new ownership and there have been a ton of improvements (menu, seating, vibes). Staff is really friendly, patient, and helpful, especially with menu changes and new specials. I'll definitely be back!

Mochinut -- err, I mean -- Mochi Lion Riverside (new name) is located just off the 60 Freeway and University exit, near UCR. They offer mochi donuts that were popularized in Japan (Hello, Mister Donut!) in various flavors. They are slightly sweet but nice to have occasionally. And they make the cutest gifts if you don't want to show up empty-handed. These donuts would instantly bring a smile to anyone's face. They are cute and delicious! They do have a rotating menu so be sure to check back often for any new flavors you want to try out. I'd come here more often but the parking situation steers me away - there's just not enough parking spaces. But if you're patient, they are worth it. Overall, tasty alternative to the ultra sweet "crumbly"cookies - you know the name - that's consistently presentable and fairly priced.

Just a small shop when you walk in. Tried just buying the items one by one: 2 corn dogs and 3 donuts, would've costed 24 bucks, but they had a cheaper for 20 bucks. It was a pretty long wait time though, 2 to 3 customers did come in after us, but was super excited when it was ready. I was disappointed though when I bit into it and discovered that the dough was still raw, and it was difficult to eat it since it's like smothered in hot cheetos. It could've used a minute or 2 longer in the fryer. Also, when the worker was picking the mochi donuts into the box, he dropped one, looked at us sheepishly and still gave it to us, felt like he should've picked another one.

Cute place for a donut not really a place to stay and eat it at, they do have tables but it's pretty small so if people are ordering you don't have a whole lot of space for privacy, service was really good the donuts were delicious, I got the watermelon kiwi drink and it was way to sugary. This place is a little in the expensive side, but I would go back for a donut whenever I wanna splurge at $3.50 each ;) plus the packaging is cute. There is ample parking outside but lots of house less individuals outside. I get it everything is expensive, but maybe they can have a loyalty system if they do have one I wouldn't know because I wasn't offered or told or read anything about it.

Block of cheese and pale potatoes. Skipping this location from now on.

Ordered 3 pc mochi donuts and 2 mozzarella dogs and he charges me $24 + tax. I asked about the Mochi Lion box that is literally the same thing and he says "Yeah, that's basically the same thing." So why did you charge me individually instead of the box? The worst part is the actual corn dog. It didn't even get hot enough to soften/melt the cheese.

Original with sugar and potato (both half cheese half meat). Chili sauce and ketchup on the side

I am late to the Korean hotdog game, so I was hoping that after all these years most establishments would have their food right. Not to say the food was awful, I guess I was expecting better. I ordered two items: original dog (half cheese half meat) and potato (half cheese half meat). The items themselves were alright. This is my first time trying, so I don't have anything to compare it to. The sugar on the original was a nice touch. Sightly sweet with a crunchy for an ASMR moment. The dough was weird though. After a few bites of both items, I couldn't stomach the rest. Felt like such a waste. What was asp disappointing was the lack of knowledge the staff had about pricing. Menu inside reads that the prices for what I ordered were $4.99 and 5.99 respectively. When I was rung up my total was over $12. I typically don't pay attention or mind, but it just didn't make sense. I asked, "is this after tax?" The cashier said, "I don't know." What? Then I reference the menu above her, and she asks the other staff. They looked so confused. I was then told I'm charged for the boxes the food comes in. Okay fine. But I don't need a box for each item, and also WTF? Please inform your customers about what they are being charged for. I'm not trying to complain about .20, but this happens way too often - people don't know what's happening, staff and customers alike are not paying attention, and that day I happened to not be in the mood to be hustled out of extra coin I guess! Anyway, just a head's up about what's going on. Also, I have had Mochi donuts in other locations and this particular location's items looked stale. Didn't look fresh at all. UCR village could do way better. I was super unimpressed and won't be back.

    Dry, terrible tasting donuts.

I would like my money back please $41 for a box of donuts to taste extremely dry and gross at the same time highly disappointing, especially for my first time being there I didn't get a receipt, but I will be taking this box back tomorrow. I should've listened to the reviews. Smh.

This is a nice little spot to stop by for something sweet. It's small with just one table and there is a screen upfront that you can order from like a kiosk. The mochi donuts are made already so service will be quite quick.

Shop reeked of sewage. Hoping it was just a one off but even the donuts carried the smell. I had to throw them out when I got home.

It has a hot pink sign and has interior and exterior seating options. You can park in parking structures or side streets in order to walk towards this location. On a hot summer day, they were blasting the AC which was super appreciated! We came in to cool off and enjoy a beer, after reading their signs! Of course, we opted for a glazed donut, too. The guy at the front was nice and friendly! Super chill. We took out items and sat towards the side, under their large TV. He switched on the TV and ended up playing the World Cup game!! I had drank a nice and chilled Space Dust IPA from the tap and my partner had a Blue Moon. I was very delighted by their glazed donuts which were massive! For $6, it was bigger than our faces; I'm guessing x3 the size of a regular donut. I enjoyed it because it was sweet, doughy, and perfectly glazed. A twist of a donut shop, but for their variety of drinks, I don't mind it! Loved the experience. Thank you for having us!
