Lost a client today! Came in May 2024 to use gift certificate bought by a dear friend for my birthday in April 2022 and was told the money has been forfeited because is it now expired. Correct me if I'm wrong but as of December 10, 2022 NYS law states that "Gift Cards And Gift Certificates Cannot Expire Within Nine Years, Will Not Decline In Value Due To Various Fees." Prior to December 10, 2022, (gift certificate purchased 04/22) gift certificates could not expire less than 5 years from issue date. It's not a ton of money ($35), BUT since they already have the $35 I'm feeling pretty cheated out of a service that's already been paid for. They were paid $35 and I got...nothing. read more

This is my favorite nail salon at the moment. I've been here about four times now and they always do an excellent job. I am very picky when it comes to my nails and I have always left Mochi satisfied. The staff here is very talented and they are very thorough with their work. They have a plethora of colors to choose from and the salon is fairly new so all of their massage chairs work, which is always a plus I always get a gel manicure and gel pedicure with callous remover added and I leave the salon feeling refreshed and beautiful each time. They're in a great location on Smith St so you can get a nice meal or do some shopping before or after your appointment. I decided to get the 20 minute reflexology while my friends manicures and I'm pretty sure it's in the top 10 decisions I've ever made. They worked out some of the stubborn knots at the balls and arches of my feet that I've neglected, and finished it off with a hot stone and hot towel. It's so hard to find a salon where you can relax... whether is because it's dirty, loud or you feel the need to micromanage your technician (me. I am a perfectionist). This is the first salon in a long time that I felt zero worries. It is pristine, quiet and Joy is a perfectionist. Not only did she do a perfect job- I trusted her recommendations for slight change to my nail shape (which totally made my fingers look thinner and longer) and color. I don't believe they sanitize their tools here. Often I see them being removed from a sealed sanitization pouch, but I should have known how bad it would be when they were already sitting out on the table when I arrived. The woman was very rough with my cuticles, and two ended up getting infected. I had to go to urgent care and get antibiotics. This nail salon is AWESOME. I went there a few days for the second time for manicure and pedicure with Zoey. She was super meticulous and professional. Also very gentle and she didn't rush the job. The first time Joy was my manicurist and she was great as well. She re did my manicure because the nail polish wasn't perfect on my nails. The place was very clean and fresh. Everyone greeted me when I walked in and they were all very friendly. Loved the fact that they offered me a bottle of water right away when I sit on the pedicure chair. I reallllllly wanted to give this place five stars, but like most things the "devil is in the details." A basic pedicure with a paraffin wax is $33 and that is what led me here. To be fair, I added on the $10 callus treatment because I know if you want any dead skin removed or more than a 3 second scrub, you need to pay a lot extra. My feet are not baby smooth, but she definitely put in effort and did a good job scrubbing. I think she needed something more abrasive personally or maybe leave the gel on longer - and no she didn't use the cheese grater. She used some fancy I assuming exfoliator gel and wrapped my foot up in some Saran wrapped waited for a couple minutes and then started scrubbing. It's appointment only and I made an appointment online. This wasn't simple because on their website if you click "book online" the site takes you to I guess their sister salon in Chelsea....? So after playing with the URL and changing the name of the salon in the string a few times smh was able to figure out how to make an appointment. They have covid prevention plastic sheets hanging from the ceiling, everyone had on masks and gloves, and I felt everything (i.e., bin, tools, etc) was sanitized. My pedicure wasn't rushed, the atmosphere is pleasant, but let me tell you where they missed the mark. My water was not hot - yes I told her, and the hot towel they use after they use the body scrub on your legs, that also was not hot - but I get it, that's just preference so I was willing to let it pass... All of their pedicures come with paraffin wax. Let's be clear, they only put on/give you enough wax to cover your heel... yes, you read that correctly. My lady goes over to the crockpot, or whatever they heat the wax in, scoops out some wax, places it in the middle of some saran wrap and wraps that around my heel.....yep heel only, just damn the rest of your foot or your ankle...cool. Even then I was willing to let it slide because of the price. While the wax is drying they'll paint your toes. When they're done painting they will unwrap your heel, brush off the pieces of wax thats left stuck to your foot, and take you right over to the toe nail dryer. Umm you missed something but we'll come back. So after a while another lady came over to check my toes, gave me some quick dry oil (nice!), and offered to wrap my toes so the paint wouldn't be ruined in my shoe (very nice!). This is amazing right....nope! And you know why? Because I'm ashy af. At no point after that wax did she put lotion on my feet, and after all that scrubbing from the callus treatment, I'm over here looking like I ran barefoot through White Sands National Park!!! I asked the woman for some lotion and literally said "my feet are ashy and dry," and she handed me the whole bottle of lotion lol. Umm, cool, I'll just finish up my own pedicure. Of course I left a tip and it was on the counter at the front desk, and on my way out my lady was preoccupied with someone else and as I was leaving (assuming of course) I heard ask her the other woman in another language if I left a tip and as the other woman responded she tapped on the counter. Sigh. I get it, but it's just tacky. I'd go back, and you should stop by, but I just wanted to level set expectations. Good luck. read more

I am not the one to write a bad review but i was quite unhappy with the service I received yesterday. After reading all the good reviews, I scheduled a Spa Pedicure (Green tea & Rosemary) in prep for my wedding this weekend. My technician started my pedicure without saying hello or helping me to the chair which wasn't an issue but then she started rushing the spa pedicure. She didn't ask me about the water temp, barely scrubbed my leg, the mask was on for like 5 sec and the cuticle was barely pushed (definitely wasn't enough soak time) . She timed the 10min massage but she was just touching my legs rather than actually massaging. Even, the "hot" towel at the end was cold. One thing i liked was the paraffin wax for my heels at the end. Overall, it just felt like she didn't care at all and didn't pay attention. The worst is when she tried to polish my toe nail with a light champagne color i chose, I saw I still had some red polish from before. At this point, I got angry and said something but she didn't understand any English. Her coworker had to come by to translate and that's when she went back to clean the rest of the red polish. After she finished, I noticed that the color wasn't painted how I wanted it to be but I just wanted to done. I am not upset about her lack of skill or English per se but the fact that she didn't care and rushed the whole process. I really hoped to relax before the wedding and love the experience but I was very disappointed. read more

Horrible service, I paid for a gel manicure and pedicure. Whilst I was in the shop, I told them I wasn't happy with the result. It was bubbled and looked like it needed an additional coat on some nails. The nail technician also had me in pain from filing with the drill on skin, not nails on 2 occasions. When I complained, I wasn't offered a discount and was told they would just do another coat if I was unhappy, which they did. In less than 12 hours my gel manicure has properly chipped!!! Even a regular manicure wouldn't have chipped this fast but gel should last at least a week, usually 2. I'm never returning here! They are by far the worst I've had. read more

Really enjoyed my experience here. It is a bit expensive for a normal manicure (I am curious of what their prices for gel are!!) but the manicure I got was long lasting and they had a LARGE variety of colors and brands (Zora, etc.). My manicure lasted almost a full week without a single chip - which I personally don't experience often! I enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Very clean and safe towards COVID restrictions. I would definitely go back. I would recommend making an appointment though, especially on the weekends. They are limiting the number of customers in the salon so I stopped by one day and they told me they were busy for the rest of the day around 3 pm. $45 dollars for a gel manicure is high for the area. Especially for a mediocre gel manicure. The gel removal was the most aggressive I have ever had, top part of my nail was scraped off. The surface of my nail was not evenly buffed out so the nail polish feels uneven. Also, the gel was a bit sloppy. I hate when the gel touches the skin in the back and side of nails, and sure enough that is what happened. There is also a gumminess to the top coat. I love this place! There is tons of nail places on the same block but I come to them. The staff is super nice and attentive. They really take there time to give you A+ experience. Additionally everything is super clean! I've never felt rushed and the massages chairs are the best I've ever had a nail salon.
