And continue to sin. **Cheating on my other favourite Nail Salons with Element Beauty Lounge** When booking an appointment with Element Beauty Lounge I usually request Mayra or Vivian but to be honest the other Techs that have worked on me when these ladies weren't available have done good work. Aesthetically the salon is impressive from the outside in. Almost calming as you walk or roll up. I love that they're wheelchair accessible. Once inside tons of exposed brick (different patterned throughout) and vast amount of wood lends a cabin like feel. And there is rope (curtains). Like you've left BKLYN and you're on a weekend getaway in the Alps. Works for me. Mayra is quick and efficient with my mani/pedi. She also assists in choosing my accent colour for finger nails. Without her input I would be hella UN-COLOUR-COORDINATED I am pleased with Mayra's work. I am please with Cathy and everyone else that has serviced me here (does that sound right?) The only experience I haven't loved yet is the foot massage. To be honest, I thought I was booking a shoulder/back massage so I confused my own self for not being clearer. During my massage I asked Mayra "is that it?" because I was confused. Haha. I'm still pleased with her skills. I recently moved to the neighborhood from Park Slope, where I frequented a very no frills nail salon that was located on my block, so I'm comparing this business to them. Pros: - Beautiful decor - Quick, efficient service - The pedicure came out good Cons: - The nail technician did not ask me how long I wanted my nails to be cut, so she cut them shorter than I would have liked - The nail tech jammed the cuticle pusher into my toes - No massage chair - just a long bench where you have to sit fairly upright - No neck massage available - Prices reflect the upscale decor - Nail dryers have fans, but no UV lights - Nail tech left me at the nail dryer without telling me how long to sit there or following up after, so it was up to me to figure out when my nails were dry - Didn't offer to wrap my feet with plastic wrap to avoid getting imprints after I put my shoes back on Overall I expected a more high end experience and what I got was lower end than my previous no frills nail salon. read more

I had a wonderful experience here. Fanny did my mani and pedi and her attention to detail was second to none. She took her time and examined my nails before moving on to each next step. I am very pleased with the service especially since I got exactly what I asked for. The vibe inside the store was very relaxing. The manager said they had availability but barely paid attention to me, focusing more on other customers than on my nails. It felt like she was just doing it for the money, not because I deserved the attention I was paying for. After a while, she handed me off to someone else to finish. They should only accept customers if they can provide a good experience from start to finish, not just to avoid losing money. I came today and will not share the nail techs name, but my pedicure was only about thirty minutes and I cannot even describe to you the chaos that ended up being my nail shapes. A few were rounded, some square, some cut so low they look like their neighbor toes little sibling (??). I also had chosen a yellow color that probably needed three coats and was only given two, which is my mistake for not checking. I will say, I haven't had such a blotchy and globby paint job before by a professional. It looks like when you paint your nails with your non-dominant hand. I came home and had to cut them myself, which of course messed up the paint job even more. I might just take it off. I won't be back, even though the price felt right, the experience wasn't all it was cracked up to be. As a previous reviewer said, the prices aren't clear. Her review four months ago said the pedicure was $30 but today mine was $35. Service was still not friendly (my pedicurist was kind) but I will not be coming back. By the time I wrote this review my nail polish on a toe I didn't reshape has already chipped. read more

Oh my gosh. Best gel manicure I've EVER gotten! Sarah did me right. It's all the way to my cuticle (but not over it), it's super thin and not chunky (it ALWAYS has been chunky), and the color is to die for. I'm also a little neurotic with my nail shape and length, and everyone who ever files my nails is impatient and I feel like I can't tell them to fix a nail that doesn't look right to me. But Sarah was SO patient with me even when I had her fix my nails like 8 times! I said sorry so much and she wasn't concerned at all. I'm afraid I have to go to Brooklyn to get my nails done now, but it's so worth it, especially at such a reasonable price (48 with tax and I gave her a $10 tip because she deserved it). This was my second time visiting this salon - my usual is Wellshow Nails & Spa in Queens which is a far journey, so I was happy to find something closer to home in Crown Heights/Bedstuy. The salon is a great vibe - perfect for a quick nail trip for you and a friend. Clean environment and tools, good music. The technicians aren't over-friendly, but they answer your questions. My nail tech did a. decent job though I'm not in love with the shape, and the application wasn't as clean as I hoped, since I did pay $106 + $15 tip for gel manicure & pedicure service. They do hustle you for a tip, so be ready to be for that. I do plan on giving them another chance, and I really enjoy the atmosphere and it's close to home. read more

Just a few things to note before we go into the review review of quality. - if you pay in cash, it's 10% off - ATM fee is .99 (downstairs) - high quality nail polish like ZOYA and OPI - sign up for membership and rack up discount in the future Alright, so at the first glance, the salon is very chic. Rustic vibes with wood furniture and accents. Downstairs is where you get the massages and restrooms, so beautifully decorated as well. This is also where the ATM lives. I highly recommend going early on a weekend to avoid a long wait. I was able to be assisted immediately given my early arrival time. It's my first time at this branch and don't know any of the technicians, so I was paired with Michael. Assuming he's the only male here. I love that he is meticulous. Very detail and gentle in his process. He accidentally cut me when he was doing my cuticles, but I'm not upset. I always find it difficult in the way I like my nails shaped and he understood when I described it immediately (it's not hard but sometimes when the technician has a language barrier too there is a misunderstanding or miscommunication, and I don't mean this is an offensive way at all). I won't deny they do a good job when it comes to nails. My issue is with the pricing. I get the same two services done every time I go (regular pedicure $30 -- absurd! -- and gel manicure $45), and the cost is different every single time. It's like they are adding their own tip without telling you, and they'll never provide you an itemized receipt, even if you ask for it. I went there yesterday. Two services total $75 total. I provided a $5 tip because I already know they are adding their own tip to the final bill. I heard the woman who did my nails talk to the manager / owner, and then she swipes my card and hands me the receipt: $88 and change. How??! Taxes was $8??! The last time I went there, an extra $15 was added with no explanation to me what else I was paying for. I've heard NUMEROUS customers complain upon paying the same exact thing I am speaking of now. I'm going to give Element 4 stars as a final, updated review. This is because depending on the technician you get, your experience may vary. Yesterday Michael did my nails. Overall, I think he did a great job. He was very patient with me even though I was very demanding and anxious (based on my last experience here with another nail tech who rushed my nails and they chipped the next day). Although he cut two of my fingers when cutting my cuticles, the cuts were small and he immediately sanitized the area. I appreciate how meticulous he was about making sure he cleaned up the nail polish on the sides of my nails so they would look neat. Vivian is excellent too, I've had my nails done by her twice and both times I was pleased with her work and how meticulous she was about making sure no excess polish was left on the sides of my nails. I am extremely disappointed with my gel manicure experience at Element. I was so excited to have a cute beauty spot around the corner from my place, so I came and got my first gel mani here on 10/10/19. The experience was great and the staff was nice. The next day, my solid purple gel mani developed a green/gray line uniformly across all of the nails. I came back on 10/15/19 (was away for the long weekend) to ask what happened, and they kindly offered to fix it with the same color as that is their policy for fixing. I understood, they took off the polish, redid the purple gel mani, I tipped my nail technician, and left. The VERY next day, the gel color changed back to green/gray (photo included). I came back in today, my first available day, and asked for it to be fixed with a new color, since this seems to be a color-specific issue (unless everyone with a gel mani here has the color change the next day). They said no, I would have to pay to get a new color because "gel manicures only last two weeks and it's been that long." It has been nine days since I got this gel manicure, first of all, I got it redone once, and both times the color changed the next day. I spent $35 to have gross grey/green nails with purple tips and this salon was unwilling to help. Clearly something is wrong with their color, UV light, or top coat, so come here at your own risk. read more

This is my second visit to this place. I will not return. I'm very particular about my nail salon experience being a self care experience that is peaceful and comfortable -- I did not feel that here. During my pedicure I ordered the callous removal service. This is the first time I've had someone shave down and cut my skin. I let her know it hurt and she applied what looked like neospirin on my open wound she did not wear gloves only her bare hands on my wound. What is worse is that i didnt realize the wond until she was placing my foot back in the foot soak tub which for me could have (and this is day of so i pray it does not) caused an infection. I had a nail art gel manicure that she complained about and wasted time complaining about, when it turns out she was having an issue taking it off because her nail file was dull. The entire time i felt like if she slowed down and used less force it would have resulted in less injury and pain. I had to also ask her to chill a bit on how hard she was trying to push down and clip my cuticles. No, I will not be back. Cuts and injuries on the foot may appear minor but are very painful and not something I want to experience after a salon appointment. My nails are paper thin after visiting them. Here also is a picture of three out of the five nails on my right hand all cracked and breaking in the same spot which will be very painful. These happened monday the day after my visit. read more

I've been going to this location on and off for about four years, and up until my most recent visit, have I had something negative to say about Element. Which, as some of the other reviews state, is the attitude that the manager or receptionist seems to have. Upon entering, there's no greeting, just a dry "do you have an appointment." You'd think that whoever's greeting the front desk would express at least a little bit of cheer, considering we're paying for a good experience. I mean, it's also common courtesy; and who wants a lousy attitude to be the first thing they encounter when going to get pampered. The nail techs, however, are the complete opposite and are so great. From their demeanor to their Mani/Pedi service, not to mention the safety precautions they're taking due to COVID. If you can get past not being greeted, then this place is worth the experience. This place is just down the street from my apartment and I've never gone because I'm usually terrible at keeping my nails in a semi-decent and pleasant state (I mean, I don't bite them but they're not like ... ya know). Anyway, I decided to splurge on a color gel manicure because I have a few Big Events coming up, and boy, was it worth it! First off, the staff is really friendly and accommodating. The place smells very much NOT like acetone or nail polish and has a very spa-like atmosphere. I really enjoyed the lotions and sprays they used and it's very clean and well-kept. My cuticles were kind of messed up so the tech went a little deep on one of them but I'm grateful for the incredibly meticulous job they did with my nails and happy that I decided to give this place a shot. I've had back to back gel manicures numerous times and never experienced this problem. I contacted this facility to ask if this could be fixed but was told that I would have to pay for a new manicure. My nail tech said she didn't know what an almond shape nail was. When I asked the manager to help me, she said she wasn't the manager she was the cashier and it's not her problem. My nail shapes did not come out consistent and she filed so hard, even though I said please don't file them so hard they break if it's too hard. I have naturally long, strong nails. After coming here they're brittle and uneven --they claimed the shapes were uneven because that's how my nails are. Not true because literally Honey Nails (a few blocks away) does a good job and has done them evenly...many other places have. Then they give a 10 minute massage at the end,which was delightful. Then I got a gel manicure at their nail bar..which was different and better than nail stations. This is the second time that I went to element. Each time I received a pedicure. The first a gel manicure as well and the second time a regular manicure. The first time the top coat or polish on my ties was old and the polish curdled and stayed very sticky. The gel only last a week before chipping. The second time polish was left on the skin of my toes and fingers. I had to request that it be removed. There was also polish left on my cuticles and my toenails were left crooked. The place is clean, but the polishes are left unorganized. I like that they have a rewards program but I will not be returning.
