There's no acai, overnight oats, turf grass juice or any other hipster disaster here. My sausage and egg sandwich were 2 little sausage links and 1 egg in between a kaiser roll. It is what it is type sandwich at a reasonable price. The donuts were fresh and also plenty of calories to get through the day. We got the cawfi roll, 2 glazed, 2 cream, and 2 jellies. the cream and jelly are now my go tos. Sorry, glazed you're not as good as Bloomfield ShopRite. This was a very cramped establishment. There was a small counter where 8 or so people could sit. Besides donuts, they also had breakfast sandwiches and other lunch items such as burgers and gyros. The prices were very reasonable as well. I ordered a dozen donuts ($7) and a cinnamon roll ($1). Below are my thoughts on each donut and the cinnamon roll. Cinnamon Roll - It was very big, but not enough glaze was added. The taste of the roll itself was decent. Sugared - This was the worst donut tried. There was not too much flavor to it with just the sugar. Honey Wheat - This was my first time trying a honey wheat donut. I really enjoyed it. There was just the right amount of honey that could be tasted. Chocolate - This provided plenty of a chocolate taste. The donut was not soft, but I think that was their intention for this particular donut. I enjoyed that texture. The same thought regarding texture could be said about the honey wheat one too. Glazed - This was very plain. Like the cinnamon roll, there was not much glaze present. Jelly - The jelly donut was probably my favorite. The dark jelly really stood out here and there was plenty of it inside. This particular donut appeared to be a mini sandwich of some sorts. Crème - There was plenty of crème filling. I got one of each, but they were all out of chocolate, coconut, and a few others. My favorites were the jelly and the original glazed. The yeast donuts were all very soft and fluffy. The prices here are also amazing. A dozen donuts are only $7, and the special donuts are $1 each. We got a mixture of the special and regular donuts for only $7. I finally made it here before they closed for the day. It's a tiny little shop with several varieties of donuts. We bought an assortment of donuts home. They tasted like old school donuts which is a good thing. The jelly donut wasn't just a tiny squirt of jelly in the middle. The powdered sugar donut covered our shirts in sugar. It was the perfect combo of donuts we have been trying to find for quite a while. The man that owns the store was so nice too. The Honey Wheat was quite yummy with a sweet sugar frosting/glaze on top. The doughnut had a slight crisp to the outer layer and inside was a pretty light and buttery dough. Jelly donut was excellent and really worth buying for any first timers here. The jelly tasted like blackberry having a tame sweetness and a distinct texture, not gloopy, but not too smooth either; striking a perfect middle ground. Despite being fairly thick, the dough was light and again had a nice hint of buttery flavor. Thankfully, the powdered sugar topping was not too sweet; complimenting more than dominating the overall donut taste. The cream-filled donut was very solid, again the dough having the positive attributes I mentioned for both previous donuts, but in this guise filled with a smooth cream that I think was a Bavarian style cream as it was light with a hint of vanilla. Finally, considering the quality and size of my three donuts, the price for three donuts was a pretty amazing $2.00. You enter this narrow luncheonette style store and realize that there is barely enough space to pass single file behind those who are seated. The place is run by a lovely couple who make and fry the doughnuts fresh every day. I have always been partial to the glazed crullers but they have a selection of filled, old fashion and coffee rolls. They also bake fresh muffins. You can get a Jersey breakfast(porkroll, egg & cheese on a hard roll) or many other choices off the flat top. They also have a lunch menu. The price is inexpensive and the food is good. Great coffee too. The only issues are the competitive street parking and the seating fills up quick. Fortunately they can pack anything for take out. A donut oasis in the middle of a Dunkin Donut land. Found out about this place via yelp. I was in the Dunellen area and had a craving for coffee and donut after a walk in the bitter wind and cold, yes people from Joisy you know what I'm talking about. Yelp listed this place and I was intrigued since it seemed like a mom and pop shop. I find this kind of rare since I'm under the impression we are a Dunkin Donut state, in fact based on my donut reasearch only other chain in state is Krispy Kreme and there is only one in the entire state of New jersey. Ambiance: It's counter space only and seems to be designed for commuters. Their hours are 5am to 4pm and closed on sundays. The also offer breakfast meals at reasonable prices. THE DONUT: FIrst impressions: I had the cinnamon roll type. It was huge, but very good. It was light in texture and sweet to my liking. My only complaint is that the cinnamon did not swirl around whole piece. Unfortunately I visited in the late afternoon, so the display racks were empty and I could only select from the one tray where they placed all the donuts. I am told that they make donuts on premises which is rare these days. I will be definitely be going back to visit again and try other donuts, and I strongly suggest going early though I am not a morning person myself. read more

A tiny little shop on the corner serving breakfast and yes, fresh, lovely, yeasted donuts. The place looks like something from a time long past. The decor is out of the 1950s with only 8 or so counter seats. The clientele are friendly and very local. Lots of jokes and laughing back and forth. The coffee was served in those classic blue and white cups, hot and fresh. Service was fantastic and friendly. The breakfast was awesome. We ordered egg sandwiches and a side of hash browns. The sandwiches were served scrambled nicely on really fresh bread. The hash browns had classic flavor with soft delicate potato chunks.
