Every Sunday should start with a donut and boba! I was so excited to hear Mochi Donut recently opened a new location in the heart of North Center and steps from the Irving Park brown line. I could smell the donuts as I got off the train and knew I had to pop in. The donuts were so fresh and not oily at all. The staff was incredibly friendly and suggested I try their signature ube drink which was delicious. I ended up picking the cookies and cream donut which was pure perfection. There's plenty of seating and a few arcade games and board games that looked super cute.

Having tried this a couple of times now, I can say that their mochii donut is fresh made. Only the frosting ruins it. I can taste nothing of the flavor except sugar. I find some of the toppings a bit kitsch like the gummy bear or the mini pretzel. I don't think it does anything to elevate the donut. And there was nothing special with the taro/ube purple yum drink. Skip that.

Was excited to try the new location not far from my house. The visit didn't disappoint. The interior is spacious and well decorated. No contact ordering with easy to use kiosks. We ordered 3 donuts and our order was ready in under 5 minutes. The donuts are delicious and not oily. We will be back for sure. The packing for the donuts to go is adorable and well designed

I have had great experiences at Mochii Donut the several times I have gone. It is a convenient location with yummy food and a cool aesthetic. While not super affordable, for specialty items it is reasonably priced. During the day it's usually pretty quiet, so if you are looking for somewhere to sit and work while you eat, this could be a great option. Service is good, although a corn dog usually takes about 15-20 minutes. I am looking forward to trying out more of their selections!

The raspberry bold orange donut truly was fire, no premade compote here, fresh raspberry filling was a game changer. I wasn't particularly impressed by the selection, and the freshness of the donuts left something to be desired. The presentation also took away from the experience. Seeing donuts sitting exposed in boxes where customers can easily view them isn't particularly appealing and doesn't create the freshest visual impression. I tried the maple pecan glazed donut, which was overwhelmingly sweet. Even after just one bite, the intense sugar rush was immediate and overpowering, making it difficult to enjoy the other flavors. The vanilla donut was the better of the two--pleasantly doughy, though it still lacked the freshness I was hoping for. Overall, this was an average experience. The donuts were serviceable, but neither the selection, presentation, nor freshness gave me much reason to return.

Tbh I remember being disappointed because of the hype. Today I entered with tempered expectations. I tried the Old Fashioned doughnut and it was somewhere between solid and above average. I'll definitely stick with Do-Rite especially because they're a few blocks away and significantly better. If the job catered Voodoo I'd indulge, but considering I prefer a few other donut shops I won't make a special trip. Great service plus a respectable donut equals 3.51 stars.

It also doesn't hurt that they are open from 6am to Midnight - perfect for those sudden doughnut cravings! One thing that can be improved is how they handle big orders. I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.
