We visited UFOUU a few days ago and at first, we were a little confused because the bakery name is on the first floor, but the actual entrance is upstairs. Once we found it, though, wow, it was like stepping into a whimsical dessert heaven! The interior is bright, super clean, and has a fun, playful vibe with unique decor and cute merchandise on display. The staff greeted us right away and took our order with efficiency, truly 5-star service. Their menu is much more than just cakes (from roasted milk teas to creative flavor options) but we came for the cheesecakes. We tried three of their classics, and although they're on the smaller side (perfect for sharing with 4 people), the flavor was absolutely incredible. They recommend heating your slice for 10 seconds, and trust me, that transforms it into pure melt-in-your-mouth bliss. This place completely won us over. UFOUU is now officially on our weekly dessert rotation, yes it's that good!
I took out a Japanese cheese cake from here. It was fluffy and delicious. I finished the whole thing in a single sitting. There was an offer for matcha ice creame for $1.99 with a cheese cake. Ice cream was just ok.
I had to check out UFOUU in Chinatown after seeing it all over TikTok, and it was worth a stop. When we went, they had a promo where you got a mystery treat if you followed them on Instagram. We ended up with a blind box figure, which was a fun little bonus. Surprisingly, the place was empty, and we were the only ones there, which made it a bit odd that the staff barely acknowledged us. They weren't particularly friendly, which wasn't a big deal but we did notice. There's a few tables and a counter, and the space is night and bright and colorful. Their branding is also super cute, with luxury looking to-go bags and their logo embossed on every cheesecake. The prices are definitely on the steep side, but the cheesecake I got was really good. I tried the salted egg yolk cheesecake ($22) and it was creamy, decadent, and not too sweet with a pleasant fluffy texture. I'd love to go back and try the meat floss flavor next time. Overall, it's a special treat kind of spot- not somewhere I'd go regularly, but worth a try if you're in the area and curious.
In comparison to uncle tetsu, this was very mid. Located in Chinatown square. The cake size wise was small & honestly expensive. $22 for a palm sized cake is quite robbery. I do appreciate the different flavors they offer but nothing out of the ordinary and don't think I'd come back.

It was light, fluffy, and not too sweet. I think the price is too steep for a small cheesecake. It is $22 for one. The place can dine in but it is limited seating. It is more like a takeout. The staff give samples for you to try. I would recommend trying it if you never had Japanese cheesecake before. For me, it is a one-time try because of the price.

I'm not sure about during the week, but on the weekend, Chinatown Square is absolutely chaotic. Finding parking is tremendously difficult. We were unable to find a park, so my husband dropped me off so I could get this cheesecake to go. The establishment is located on the 2nd floor. There was one sign telling you where to go. The interior is small, with limited seating. There was a 15 minute wait for the classic one, so I opted for the chocolate. It's $19 for the classic and $20 for the chocolate. They also offer bubble tea. Staff were not friendly at all. They definitely need to improve their customer service. The cheesecake itself was delicious and worth it. They give you a small cake cutter and two sporks in your bag, which was super convenient and appreciated. Overall, I would go back.
There are many places here in Chinatown Square that can sell you Japanese-like cheese cakes but none of them will taste like the real deal. They are located on the 2nd floor and as you walk in you are greeted with anime figurines. They even offer us free samples to try. I ended up buying a whole cake $20, it is small but packs a punch in flavors. Highly recommend.
Delicious soft and fluffy Japanese cheesecakes! Got the matcha and strawberry cheesecakes and both were delicious. They were light, fluffy, and not too sweet whilst still tasting a lot like their respective flavors. If you haven't tried Japanese cheesecakes before, you should definitely give this a shot!
I wouldnt complain about the price because my friend gave this to me. This is the best japanese cheesecake I've had. The other ones I've tried are more of cake but this one you can taste the cheesecake especially in the middle. So soft, fluffy and smooth. It is not too sweet which I prefers. As a baker, it is perfectly made. Im excited to try the other flavors. This kind of cake is really pricey but I think worth the price especially if you have it once in a while.
This is Chicagos first Japanese cheesecake outlet. They make it fresh so the taste is never compromised. I tried the chocolate as well as the classic. Both were soft, airy and had melt in the mouth texture.
The service was pretty quick with no line on a Saturday at like 2PM. The logo, packaging and ambiance of the place were so memorable. The cheesecake itself unfortunately was not, the cake was soft like a typical Japanese souffle cheese cake, but I was disappointed at the pricing, the matcha version was a few dollars more than the original and I barely tasted any matcha. It was over $25 for this smaller cake which I feel like was a bit too steep. Would still recommend trying for those who haven't had Japanese cheesecakes before though!
My boy friend & I were originally on a mission to get this cheesecake and were there right when they opened to avoid the line. They unfortunately didn't have the original ready so we did have a 30min wait but we decided to walk around. We took our cheesecake home and tried it out later that evening and man was it the star of the show! Super light and airy and just plain old good!

I recently tried UFOUU, the Chicago-based bakery known for their Japanese-style cheesecakes, and overall it was a really a hit for me. I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future. read more

Came here for a hot drink while it's very cold in Chicago and not a lot of lot of places around that offer hot chocolate, hot coffee, or any hot drinks. We got here when it just was opening. The place was clean and the staff was really nice. We got the sweet roasted milk and it was very good and unique flavor. We were watching them while they were making that and the cheesecake and you can tell they put a lot of care and in time to their products. read more
A bit disappointed. Not as fluffy as I imagined, very small, and the flavor isn't super pronounced. The original cheesecake was good, but rather plain and almost dry. The salted egg yolk didn't really have much salted egg flavor, I could barely discern from original flavor. On the flip side, matcha was too dense and very meh. I think my favorite was the meat floss, although I think it is chicken meat floss, which isn't as good as pork-- on the hard side, but it does give the cake more character. Overall, the cheesecakes were okay and I can do without. read more

Pricey and small but they cheesecakes are very light and fluffy in taste and it came with cute packaging, a cake cuter and two forks. We bought boba from another store and were able to fit 4 of them on top of the cheesecake, in the bag they provided, so I appreciated the bag very much. The interior is very cute and has a lot of anime figurines my daughter admired while I ordered. Service was super fast and staff were very friendly. read more
When I saw it I am sure I want to try it even it is on the expensive side thinking about the size. It was so good and still good after several days just warm it up a bit it will go back to its original jiggly state. The lady cashier needs to improve her interaction w customers very snob and not personable. The place was okay. Plus you get a cake knife and fork. read more

Like others have mentioned, I think the price for the size of cheesecake you get is steep at $18-22 a piece depending on the flavor. But, with that being said, the actual cheesecake it self is one of the most delicious cakes I've tried. It's incredibly light, airy, and not overly sweet. They do use A LOT of eggs in their recipe so you can definitely taste some eggy-ness but it's not overpowering in taste. If you've never tried a Japanese Cheesecake before, this is definitely a must try. read more
This place was located in south Chinatown in Chicago. Store is located upstairs. Mainly togo, no dine in option. They only sell cakes and custard. I purchased the original flavor cheesecake, it was delicious. $20 per cake, it's smaller than the typical cheesecake at the grocery store. We got in right before the rush. read more
We saw there's a Japanese fluffy jiggly cheesecake place open in Chinatown, we figured we'd try it out. They have original, matcha, chocolate, and salted egg yolk ones to choose from. Order process was very quick. Personally, I'm not a fan of those raisins on the bottom of the cheesecake, but I had better ones. Overall, the texture is good and it tasted authentic, and not too sweet. It's $20 for an original one, the packaging is really nice. I'd Prbly try other flavors in the future and possibly their drinks as well. If you've never had it before, you should give this place a try. I love Japanese cheesecake so I was very happy to see this place pop up in Chinatown. They had just opened recently so not much was offered. I got the regular classic cheesecake and brought it home. It was smaller than I thought but flavor wise, it tasted good. I would definitely go back and try their other cheesecake flavor as well as their bubble tea drinks. read more

I might be new to this part of the world of cheesecake. This was definitely different and unique to my pallet. First bite was good. I got a hint of eggs with cheese. Not sweet at all. I ordered the original. The price seems high for such a small cake. I will be back to try the others and update my review. read more
Overall rating: 3.5/5 The cheesecake itself wasn't too sweet and was soft compared to American cheesecake. My fiancé and I got the matcha cheesecake. However, for the price, it was definitely way too expensive for the amount you're getting. The packaging is very sturdy and cute. The service was quick too. Would I go here again? Went on a Sunday around 2pm. All they had available was Meat cake and Matcha cake. Told us that it would be 15-20min for the plain cheesecake, which is what we wanted. Texture is light and creamy and can taste the distinct Match flavor. Value wise 6" cheesecake for $24 is a bit steep - just my opinion. Well atleast I tried it after seeing couple reviews of this place. Ambiance: typical bakery Service: nothing spectacular Food: 4 stars out of 5 Value: 2 stars out of 5 3 stars overall. read more
