Are you guys ready for this review?? So my partner decided we are going to china town for lunch with his mom and sister. Family day in the city, DURING A SNOWSTORM!! We arrive, place is closed, will open in 10 mins. Perfect, we go to a near by shop and I spot some demon hunter Stanley cups!! I get them of course! We head to lunch, everything is great! As we are heading out, my partners sister spots Te'amo! I ask if she's ever had mochi donuts. She hasn't, so of course we must stop in because everyone needs to try them at least once!!! We order at the kiask and patiently wait for our order. We get our order and leave....leaving the bag with the Stanley's behind!!! We don't realize this until we are home (45 mins away)! I immediately call, no answer, call again, no answer. I decide to DM their instagram page and guess what??? THEY HAD THE CUPS!!! Here I was thinking $150 in cups were gone. But they had them!!! A miracle!! 10/10 stars!! Anyway! I highly recommend the brûlée ube milk tea and the ube mochi donuts!! read more

We stopped in whilst visiting Chinatown. We have one in our town and like to visit it on occasion. We ordered 5 drinks on the kiosk and found a place to sit in the back corner. The Ube Donut was sooo delicious I don't think I've even a donut so fast that I forgot to take a photo of it. This place was the absolutely adorable!! I ordered the strawberry mochi and the ube mochi doughnut. The only thing that would make them better is if they were hot! They were cooked well the flavor is there I just like warm/hot doughnuts. I also tried my friends mango oolong tea with popping boba. Delicious ! We stopped in for boba while we were in Chinatown to get out of the rain, and honestly the space is adorable. The pastel aesthetic is very Instagram-friendly, and they have a ton of branded merch if that's your kinda thing. Ordering was fast since everything's done through self-service kiosks, and it wasn't very crowded when we went. Service felt slower than other Te'amo locations I've visited, and there were a few dirty tables and full trash cans sitting around, which wasn't great. That said, our drinks were well made and tasted exactly how they should. I'm a big fan of the brand overall, so I'm guessing this was just an off day. This place was soooo cute! Stopped by after my nail appointment in chinatown. It did say it was open at 11am but didn't open until 11:30am - just a heads up in case you look at Google hours. Upon walking in you see the vibrant and girly colors & decor. Cute & comfy tables with different LED's. I ordered at a kiosk, but I wanted to order at a register because I had InKind with a discount but no one came to greet me. That's why I took the star away - no real customer service interaction but I'm not sure if that's the goal? The latte itself was good - the strawberry was a great addition! read more

Terrible service from 2 workers there on Tuesday June 30. So condescending and rude. Speaking to customers like they are dumb. Flies buzzing everywhere. Gossiping and snickering about customers as they were making our order. Also saw at least 10 flies in the restaurant. Do something about this!! There's food and drinks! SOOOO OVERPRICED!! Wouldn't let customers use the restroom after we paid $40!! not even close to closing time either. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

I've never left a review on yelp, but this place was that bad. Beatriz (I think is her name) was extremely rude. I couldn't believe the level of service that was provided and I'm pretty patient. She was very condescending not only to me, but to every other customer in the place. Shop was filled with flies too. Paid $35 for 3 drinks and the fruit stick. Disappointed isn't a strong enough word. read more

Had Te'amo Boba Bar while waiting for our table for dinner with family. I ordered the white mustache green tea and my boyfriend got the Okinawa milk tea. We both got boba with our drinks. The downside to our visit was their system was down and only accepting cash at the moment. It luckily wasn't an issue as our cousin had cash with him. The packaging is a cool concept with it being a sealed lid. The only downside is it can easily be spilled since it's just a big hole once it's opened. The white mustache green tea had a good balance of creaminess and fresh notes. The Okinawa milk tea wasn't bad itself either. It was nice roasted flavor! The boba was also the perfect texture. Had their Dalgona Matcha w/ Boba and an White Moustache Ube Milk Drink and both were very tasty and came in cool cans. Definitely one of the cooler designs for a boba cup I have seen. The Matcha Boba was very creamy and had a nice matcha flavor with nice and chewy boba. A little bit too hard though, but can look past that. The Ube was rich and creamy, the cheese foam at the top was nice and blended well with the ube that was sweet and had a strong ube flavor. The vibe inside was also nice. They also play K-Pop on their speakers and one of the songs was by GFriend which is a plus. read more

Nice and clean place in Chicago's Chinatown. There are 2 kiosks from which to order. It was pretty user-friendly. We ordered two drinks with boba and one without. The drinks come in some tall plastic cans that open like soda cans. Everything tasted just right. Sweetness was perfect. Bobas were soft, chewy, and flavorful. We were happy with all of the items. Very cute and unique boba shop that offers sealed aluminum containers for your drinks instead of plastic ones. Straightforward ordering process on the self kiosk then watch your drinks being made and sealed in front of your eyes. I ordered the mochi donuts which were so tasty without being overly sweet. This small but pretty location offers a variety of colorful boba beverages (ready for your Instagram!) as well as some desserts. They were out of ramune soft serve so my boyfriend got strawberry: it was super creamy and light. I got a strawberry shortcake which was ok but the cream was slightly odd and also had unexpected jellies mixed in which I definitely didn't need. The one complaint was noise. The space is small and for a good amount of the time we were here a group of about six 20somethings were here talking loudly under a slanting part of the ceiling so it just magnified the sound. Tone it down! Overall, this was ok but I would likely try someplace else for dessert the next time I am in Chinatown. read more

I never think I will buy their dessert in Chinatown in their so few location around Downtown. My mom stopped by since she wanted the coconut pudding so bad, the location near millennium park sold out the other day since it was less than an hour before they closed. She the the coconut pudding was smoother than the location at Navy Pier. read more

I was really impressed with their rose tea latte. I think a lot of places skimp out on the rose flavor and you can't really taste it, but this one was really great. They also adjust sweetness well. I requested 50% sweetness and they did it perfectly to my taste -- barely sweet at all. So if you like your tea on the sweeter side don't be afraid to go for 100%! If you don't like it sweet, don't worry, they'll make it well if you adjust the sweetness. I really only took off a star because it's a bit pricey and the milk tea options are very limited -- seems like their specialty is really shakes, lemonades and desserts, which sort of threw me off since it's marketed as a boba bar. read more

Unique refreshing drinks for a stroll on a warm day. I got the mango lemonade which was pretty good. A bit on the sweet side but once watered down by the ice it was good. I would say this place has good bubble tea choices for an Americanized bbt experience. You place your order on a kiosk and your drink comes in around 10 minutes. Super Cute find in the Chinatown Center in Chicago! We saw that they had a good variety besides just drinks so we had to give it a try! You order on the kiosks if you plan to use card, but pay up front if cash. We were intrigued by the cheesecake baos. I will say its a little more on the pricey end, ($11 for 2 baos) but they're relatively big. But man they were delicious! Nice and warm and gooey! The taste wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. While not my favorite Boba place, the drinks are always delicious and the shop itself is incredibly cute. Depending on the location, the selection of drinks varies, some places only have a smaller number of drinks while the other ones have the full menu. I think I like the desserts more than I like their drinks. Definitely worth checking out. read more

YUM! This place and the cups they serve the drinks in are so cute. It's kind of self service; you walk up to a screen and order your drink and they'll call your order number when it's ready. The space is small and popular, so it can feel a little cramped, but that's generally the case for all the restaurants in this strip of Chinatown. I'm a big fan of banana and strawberry milk and absolutely enjoyed the two. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. Both drinks were really good, but I definitely enjoyed the mango smoothie more. Really liked the Japanese strawberry yogurt cake, but only get it if you're a fan of yogurt. Even though this place has a lot of positive reviews, im afraid I can't agree, this place is overrated, overpriced, and mediocre. I seriously don't understand how people like this place. I understand that it looks luxurious and pretty, but the taste just isn't it. The menu is limited, not much options, and the prices are ridiculous. Not to mention that the drinks/food don't even taste that good. With my experience, the boba tea was watered down, wasn't sweet at all, the boba was really god though. Sweet and sugary. Additionaly, the mochi donuts were stale, old, and the frosting was thick and overpowering. I would recommend going to mochinut for mochi donuts, and international markets boba shop for boba. Don't waste your money on this place, please. It's not worth it. read more

Went with a couple of friends for a post-lunch dessert. For some reason I kind of thought te'amo was all about the vibe and had just okay boba. And it is true that the vibe is probably more noteworthy than the boba (beautiful decor, everything from the tables and chairs to the pillows is interesting and aesthetic), but I thought my drink was good! I ordered the white moustache tea (assam with cheese foam top), and my friends got the thai tea and a regular boba. We also got two doughnuts to share. The doughnuts were pretty standard, sweet with decent flavor and texture, and they looked cool haha. The drinks were pretty standard as well, nothing to complain about. I will say the cups they come in are super cool, and the christmas special cups are cute. Also, who knew a boba shop would be selling christmas candles, but it was perfect for a last minute gift I needed to get. Great place overall! I think it's definitely worth a try, and I wouldn't be surprised if I find myself here again. read more

The cups, along with the entire shop, are aesthetically pleasing. I'd come back here for sure the next time I'm in Chinatown.

I instead placed my order with the clerk - less ice, less sweet. Though it wasn't very busy at the time, the drink came out relatively fast. The service overall was friendly, too! Now, about this beverage... if I'd asked for a "surprise me," I'd be happier. This is because on its own, it was respectable and unique in its custard-like consistency. However, given that I'd ordered a milk tea, where neither the appropriate consistency nor tea notes made an appearance, my happiness and satisfaction levels go down. To give some credit, the beverage I received wasn't too sweet, and had a slight velvety mouthfeel. It was unique and interesting, unlike anything I had ever had before. Final verdict: there is no shortage of boba tea shops around, especially in Chinatown. If you're going to do something different, power to you. However, don't say you sell one thing, and sell another.

There aren't many seats available so it feels like a semi boba shop as well. To sum it up, I would say it is ~70 to 80% authentic, which is not bad in my opinion. Braised Pork Over Rice 招牌滷肉飯: The presentation was beautiful and the flavor was actually pretty good. In Taiwan, this dish is usually more on the sweeter side, due to the sugar and shallots added. Here, it is more peppery and savory, and the flavor was actually really good. The beans and the mustard greens were very delicious as well. Even though the flavor profile is slightly different, this was well made and something I would come back for. Noodles with black pepper sauce 胡椒鐵板麵: traditionally this dish is called蘑菇鐵板麵, which uses mushrooms, black pepper and other sauces as a base. The flavor was good, but I wish that there were more mushroom and sauce to balance the black pepper. In my opinion, this dish tasted very different from what I used to eat, but it is not bad on its own. 2/4 Fried pork chops: the meat was fried very well, and it was pretty peppery and crispy. However, I think there are different spices and flavor missing, including white pepper, msg, garlic, Thai basil, cayenne pepper, and more. I wished that the savoriness and spiciness popped up more, and I thought the spice blend and the marinade could definitely use some improvement. 3/4 Beef noodle soup 牛肉麵: I thought the bone broth was pretty good, but I believe the flavor profile should be wider, like tomatoes, five spice, 豆瓣醬, soy sauce, and more. It was a stripped down version, and I wished that is reflected in the name of the item (renaming it "clear soup" etc). Also, the amount of meat they gave us was a little bit pitiful (there were like four pieces), and there were two pieces of bok choy. When Taiwanese people eat beef noodle soup, we definitely expect more. 2/4 Additionally, I wish the drinks were made with some fresh ingredients (not just syrup or creamer), as standard/good quality boba shops from Taiwan try to make drinks as fresh as possible. That is high ask, but I just wanted to note that as a suggestion for improvement. Overall, I thought the food was pretty decent. Would I say it is the most representative Taiwanese restaurant in Chicago? No. The staff was actually Chinese loll. But I do think it reminds me of some flavors and food I grew up eating in Taiwan. If you like popcorn chicken and pork, it is likely a good place for you.

Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.
