The food is alright. The hibachi is one of the items I noticed everyone recommending in the reviews so I went with that. The lunch portion was good sized for the price. I found the chicken to be dry The veggies were el dente and excellent in my opinion. The overall flavor was decent-typical hibachi. I will say that the negative environmental impact this place is having is really disappointing. I did not realize until after I ordered that EVERYTHING is in styrofoam including the dine in food. Everything is single use. I can't stand when you dine in and everything is plastic or single use. It was almost shocking. I wouldn't come back for that reason alone. read more

A staple of DT Athens!!! They're about to relocate here in a few weeks but had to eat at the old location at least once more. We did a pickup order and everything was great. I really liked the hibachi chicken fried rice, my son enjoyed his hibachi shrimp fried rice, and my daughter loved her poke bowl. Prior to eating here I thought I just didn't like poke. I love sushi rolls & ceviche & all other things like that but had accepted that I didn't like poke, until my friend suggested I try ahi. Long story short, my previous experiences were with bad poke. I have now come to ahi weekly and hope to fill up a punch card soon to get my 10th bowl free. The poke here is extremely fresh and a great portion size. I typically get the regular bowl, which was $15+ at the other place but right around $10 here. I usually get spicy crab and spicy tuna and all the fixins. So far, ahi hasn't disappointed and I'd love to try more of their menu! So far I've stuck to the poke and miso soup rightfully so because they're delicious! Such a friendly staff and a good environment too, this is definitely the best poke spot in Athens. read more

My favorite restaurant in Athens!! Unassuming mom 'n' pop shop but it is THE best poke you will ever have. I get a regular poke bowl with double salmon, sushi rice, soy marinade, seaweed salad, corn, pineapple, masago (tiny orange fish eggs), tempura flakes, mandarin, and furikake (sesame seeds, dry seaweed flakes). Sometimes they forget the sauce :( Salmon is fatty, generous amount, and comes in big chunks. Adding tarty fruits to a poke bowl is refreshing. A regular portion size is enough to satisfy me and my boyfriend or I save the leftovers for another meal. Calamari has a nice squid flavor without the fishiness. Best to have it fresh, otherwise it doesn't stay crunchy. The store itself is kinda rundown but not a big deal when the food is *chef's kiss*. Service is good, the lady at the front is always nice. Ahi is everything you can ask for as someone on a budget. It's a low cost meal with decent quality, options, and great portions. The interior looks like the traditional hole-in-the-wall restaurant-nothing fancy. It's in and out and good for a quick lunch or takeout. I tried the hibachi bowl with steak and chicken which also comes with a plethora of vegetables and rice. If I were to explain it, it's like mall food but better. My absolute favorite poke spot in terms of quality and price! You just can't beat it. My friend recommended me this place back in April and I think I've been here almost every week since! Food: Their poke bowl is so good!! I tend to get a large bowl with 3 proteins and fill up on toppings. Their salmon tastes fresh, and their shrimps are a good size! Their portions on their protein definitely is not as skimpy as some other places in Athens or Atlanta. Today I got a regular poke bowl though with salmon and shrimp. My toppings were masago, tempura flakes, avocado (extra $), and corn. Usually when I get a large bowl, I'll add the ahi tuna. Their tuna does tend to taste a little frozen though, not as fresh. I also don't recommend the spicy tuna but that's more of a texture thing for me since the rice is already soft with the masago. I have had their hibachi before though and it's subpar. I would dock a star for it but since I just go for their poke bowl, I kept it at 5. Price: I paid $9.99 for my regular bowl and I had leftovers. It normally would be less than ~$10 but I added avocado. Usually I get the large bowl and that totals out around ~$13 but I almost always never finish it in one sitting! For the price, the portions are generous and I usually have enough for later in the day or early tomorrow morning. Service: I fill out a little paper form for my poke bowl which I actually love that they do this. It lessens my anxiety and I know I'll get it exactly how I want it since there'd be no miscommunication from having to yell over the counter. I don't really interact with the workers outside of just handing them the paper and checking out. They don't greet or say goodbye either when customers go in or out. I don't really care about that though but I guess some people would. They always bring me my order when I'm waiting though even if it's a to-go, so I appreciate that. Place: While it is good for group dining, it is humid inside and kind of hard to hear even when there's no one inside due to the vents. I usually order to-go so it's not a problem. Overall: I love this place and it is my go-to spot for dinner. I even order this on Postmates when I don't feel like making the drive (which is a big deal considering it's upcharged $4... but WORTH IT).
