I feel like I am going crazy because all of these interviews talk about how good the food and atmosphere was, but this wasn't our experience. The setup itself is just weird; you have to stand outside and wait for someone to come out to seat you. When you go inside, its small and has kind of a "bar meets saddam hussein's palace" kind of vibe, there is gold everywhere in here. Not to mention its a bar that has been converted into a restaurant, its separated by the check-in desk by drapery. One good point is that all of the staff is very friendly and attentive, although I think our waitress had to cover every table in the place, which seems kind of not great for her! We started with some drinks, they were both good, no complaints there. After they came we ordered our food, we ordered them one at a time. First up was the bacon wrapped dates. These were pretty good, the bacon was cooked well and had some good crisp, it paired well with the dates and cheese inside. The walnut was kind of weird and my wife and I both thought for a second the date pit hadn't been removed. Next we got the corn empanadas, these were disappointing but not awful. The dough was cooked fine but it has absolutely no flavor, like nothing at all. The filling was also cooked ok, the corn had good texture, but similarly, had no flavor, about the only thing I could tint was a tiny bit of cilantro. Once you dip it in the sauce that comes with it, things improve, but we both felt the empanadas should be able to stand on their own. The last tapas item we got was the costillas al ajillo, these were both disappointing AND awful. They are advertised as "fall off the bone fried rib tips, garlic infused olive oil, crisp garlic chips" The only thing crispy about this was the meat itself, it was incredibly dry and had no flavor. There was a little bit of olive oil and some minced garlic, but not "crispy garlic chips". Credit where credits due they took if off the bill, but it was just incredibly bad. We finished with the chocolate flan which was quite good, no complaints there. All in all it was disappointing and I don't know that we would come back. read more

Celebrated a birthday dinner with friends. We had reservations for 4 and are table was ready as soon as we arrived. The hostess explained some of the menu items and made some recommendations. Everything was amazing! This is my 2nd time and it was just as good as I remembered. They have very nice little patio area with misters however it was too hot so we chose to sit inside. They have a bar and offer very good cocktails. We ordered Chicken Wings, calamari, pork belly wrapped dates, blue cheeses steak bites, pork belly skewers, elote empanadas and patatas bravas. My wife and I had a very nice date night here. We were a little unsure of the exact location, it's like the side of a hotel or something, but I'm glad we found our way. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I highly suggest the patio here for a few drinks and tasty tapas. I took my intern here on her last day to celebrate her new job. We sat the bar which is super cozy and I immediately ordered a vodka martini and it was delicious! We didn't order a full meal, just a smattering of small plates. My favorites were the wagyu sliders and the bacon wrapped dates. I could have eaten a bowl of the dates. The tacos were good, but fell apart about halfway through eating them. They do offer a full lunch and dinner menu along with their tapas. This restaurant is connected to the Piccadilly Hotel, which is kind of odd, but it makes for great people watching! Despite being so close to home this was my first time trying Mochuelo. Nice little gem in Fresno. It's a small restaurant in the Piccadilly Inn but the atmosphere was pleasant and the drinks strong. I love tapas and although they don't compare to tapas in Spain the menu is diverse and done well. My favorite item were the sautéed mushrooms. Wide variety of mushrooms with good flavor. The patatas brava were also very good. The ribeye and the Jamon Serrano were average. Nothing special but tasty. Looking forward to going back to try the whole menu. My god, Leonardo DaVinci could not have painted a more beautiful experience himself than the one I experienced first-hand upon my first visit, at the beckoning of my best friend who simply INSISTED I go. The standout dish for me was the "Spicy Pork Belly'---that was like a million bucks dancing in my mouth. I also quite enjoyed the "banana flan" at the recommendation of our wonderful waiter "Andres"---it took me on a journey; it was what I imagine Donkey Kong would make the morning after a night of torrid passion, feverishly Googling the perfect recipe for a perfect mate---cuz you know Kranky Kong wouldn't do shit to help. Went for girls night out. we sat on the patio, which was totally cute and just the right size for everyone to feel like they were in the conversation, but not crowded around each other. The heaters were placed in the perfect spots so we all felt warm, and I love the fact that they also had blankets available upon request if you felt cold. The staff was very professional, nice and attentive. We sampled a bunch of everything and everything that we sampled was good. Had good flavor. The only thing that I thought was bland were the Patatas, yes the name on the menu was patatas not potatoes. But that was remedied by using the garlic, dipping sauce from the chorizo croquettes, then they were perfect. I love that they did not make us feel rushed or like we were in the way, they spaced everything out perfectly. We would get a couple of tapas try those and then the next couple would come out and then we try those and then the next couple will come out. We ordered the pork belly skewers, chorizo croquettes, the shishito peppers, the empanadas, the flank steak with extra super yummy chimichurri, the brussels sprouts, the patatas and the Moroccan street tacos. I'm sure there was more but I just can't remember what it was. We also had some really yummy drinks. All of the drinks were good, sorry I don't remember all the drinks that were ordered, but there were 11 different drinks ordered between all of us, and everyone said their drinks were good. We've been here probably 6-7 times over the last year and never had an issue until tonight. We arrived at 6pm for our 6:15 reservation. We were sat immediately. We waited 10 minutes before anyone came by for our drink orders and another 20 minutes until our food order was taken. Drinks came out and they were perfect. We waited over 20 minutes for any food to begin arriving while other tables around us kept receiving incorrect orders. Finally our fried peppers arrived and 15 minutes later out pork belly tacos. Overall we were there over an hour and never received all of our food. No one came by our table, not even once, to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else except the girl refilling the waters. We asked for our check and told them we were disappointed with everything and that we hadn't received all of our food and we just wanted to leave. Served came by with our check which still had everything we ordered on it and we had to correct her. She brought back the correct check and a pen that had basically exploded and left ink all over my hand and shirt. No apologies were given and nothing comped. We paid and left. Sorry to say but we will never return which is a disappointment because it's our favorite date night spot. Good luck to everyone that goes...you're gonna need it. read more

Yummm! I stumbled upon this little gem since it was walking distance from the Marriott, but I don't recommend walking, the area can be a little bit sketchy. Anyway, great tapas and yummy drinks!! My sister picked this place for a night out with our husbands. I didn't even have time to do my usual Yelp preview as we were originally going across the street but it was closed for a private event. I love the intimate vibe. You could dress up for a visit here or dress more casual. This is the type of place that it is what you make of it! The menu is chalked full of unique cocktails, mocktials, beer and wine. Then a huge selection of small plates. The menu has no images and there are very unique items offered. So if you are someone who needs the visual, make sure you look at the menu and pictures here on Yelp first! I didn't feel like a cocktail so I ordered a peanut butter stout, which was delicious. I had joked about wanting to go for coffee first and this was a great compromise. My sister got a pretty delicious Around The Campfire whiskey drink and it was tasty not overly sweet. It came with toasted marshmallows too! (Make sure you eat the toasted marshmallows, because we totally overheard the severs talking about how she didn't eat them. Lol!) her husband got an old fashion and my husband got a Stella. We all shared the croquettes de chorizo, butter candle, calamari, and chicken wings. The croquettes were the best. Very creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. A must try! The butter candle was interesting- 4 pieces of bread, season butter with a wick in it and they light the wick at your table and it melts the butter. This was a new thing for me so I was equally confused and impressed. For the wings it was an okay combo- The sauces were on the side and the wings were crispy, but the flavors were not my favorite. The calamari was pretty good and I loved the flavors-like a curry/cumin taste in the seasonings. Just watch out because they also deep fry a small slice of lemon and throw it with the calamari-and im not sure if it's edible but when I popped it in my mouth, I was committed to it. Haha!! The decor and vibes are great and I would be inclined to coming again if I could sit outside on the patio. The indoor space is smaller, and the servers really have no where to stand away from view of the tables so it kind of just feels like they are all staring at you. Helpful for when you need help, but also awkward when there aren't as many parties. That was the loss of one star for me. For being a Friday night around 5:30, I was surprised how empty the place was and appreciated the new experiences! Recommend for sure. read more

A few friends and I came here on Friday to grab a few bites and drinks. The restaurant is lovely inside the Piccadilly Inn Hotel on Shaw and Sequoia. We did make reservations and got seated right away. Our server was sweet, knowledgeable about the different dishes and recommended amazing items for us to try. I don't drink so I didn't get any alcoholic beverages but my friend did and she said that the drink that our waitress recommended was delicious! The place was nice but parking was a little confusing. Drinks were also solid. We ordered a bunch of plates. What I got was decent: Fondue and Chimichuri Steak. The table also got tacos, bacon wrapped dates, wings, calamari, etc. For us, the flavor and cooks were off. But again, could be us or maybe we ordered the wrong things. Would be closer to five stars for the food alone, but there were a couple factors that brought down my rating. Do not dine outside unless you want to be eaten alive by mosquitos. They do know this is an issue, because they actually brought out citronella candles after speaking to them. The server who took our order was great. He was accommodating and checked on our table frequently. However, the food runner kept on dropping food off without saying which dish was what. Sometimes she ran off so fast we didn't even have the chance to ask. We would also ask for dishes to be placed in front of the person who ordered them but she would say "I'll just put it here" instead. Lol. Wrapping up this review by saying that the tapas, paella, and cocktails were absolutely fantastic. I would still come back, but only for indoor dining and wary of the aforementioned food runner. read more

Located inside a hotel/hotel lobby, the seating is pretty small indoors. There was outdoor seating too but it didn't look too spacious. We arrived as a group of 6, no reservation, and was told the wait was 15 min. It ended up being an hour wait so I would recommend to come in small groups (max 4) or make a reservation. I highly recommend to get one of their cocktails. We tried 4 different ones and all were really good! For food, it's small plate/tapas style. We shared a lot of the plates and was pretty filling. My favorite was the Patatas, corn cheese dip, and enchiladas. I wasn't a fan of the tortilla for the tacos as it was easily breakable but the shrimp was really good.
