We've been coming to La Parrilla for years, and while it went through a bit of a rough patch a while back, I'm happy to say the food is firmly back to being great. We came in with a larger group recently, which gave us a chance to sample a little bit of everything. Across the board, the food was excellent--the quesadillas, chicken tortilla soup, fajitas, and tacos were all hits. And, of course, you can't go wrong with their margaritas! The only real downside lately has been the table service, which has felt a bit lacking. If you want the best experience, my pro-tip is to skip the dining room tables and sit at the bar. This place is so fun! It's easy to get a group together for lunch or dinner or even to watch a sporting event. The service is great, food comes out quick, the drinks are fun, and the food is pretty good. We've had girls night and family nights here before and always enjoy our experience. Last time we dropped in, I had the chimi-rica, my aunts got the veggie fajitas, uncles got some tacos, and my dad got their chicken. We all enjoyed our dishes! read more

If anybody from corporate or the family that owns restaurant reads this review, please keep in mind that I have visited this and brought my family here to this restaurant for 20+ years restaurant. I eat here at least once a week and my family at least twice a week, but that is going to change and I hope all of my neighbors read this review. Although the decor has been renovated recently, and the service remains very good, Maria, the manager, has told the kitchen staff to cut corners. The kitchen staff needs to be needs to be trained how to cook and prepare to their standards, as I often visit the one in Sandy Springs, which is much more superb. From talking with the staff who we love, Maria has ruined this restaurant over the past year. I ate there recently and complained about a dish that I always get and knew that something was different. They shrunk the portion and didn't cook it properly, so I sent it back and guess what came back to me across the counter for the first time in 50 years? Maria brought the dish back to me personally and argued and told me the customer is not always right and she said more times than not, she is! She refused to take it back, instead choosing to waste her time arguing with me. I could not believe her audacity... I've never had a restaurant bring the food back to me (especially by the manager herself) and say they weren't going to help me or change it. Arguing with the customer is one way to reduce revenue and lose loyal customers. I hope somebody from corporate reads this and send Maria back to where she belongs... managing a Taco Bell! read more

We came here wanting to try a different Tex max spot in Alpharetta. I didn't have high expectations. This restaurant was just mediocre. Everyone at our table said the same thing! I had the Ranchero Burrito which included grilled onions and peppers and shredded Chicken. It also came with rice and beans on the side. There seemed to be something spicy in either the burrito or the beans but couldn't figure it out. Our server come over very sparingly. My actual favorite Mexican restaurant in all of Georgia and maybe the east coast. I've been coming here my whole life or at least the last 20 years. The servers and waitstaff are always very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is always fun and lovely especially when there are customer birthdays and the staff are singing. The food is obviously the star of the show I get the burrito ranchero with chicken but I really do trust anything on the menu to be great. This is also a great place for margs and queso. My wife is the Mexican food fan in our family...me, not as much. But I enjoy it because she enjoys it. The best I've had in the Atlanta metro area is La Parrilla. The food is fresh, well seasoned and always tastes great. It looks good too...something that bothers me at many other Mexican restaurants. I always get the chicken chimichanga. Comes with a side of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. The wait staff is native to the culinary region and both attentive and happy. The restaurant was renovated in July and looks great. Bright, airy and open. It's always full, but never too busy to accommodate the next group of patrons. When there's a wait, it's never more than 10 minutes or so. I don't mind that this is one of our go to's! read more

I'll start off that I'm giving them a 4 because they can be super inconsistent but the past couple times have been phenomenal. I came here with some friends and we were seated relatively quickly. We ordered some margs and snacked the the delicious chips while waiting for our meal. The service was a little slow and that's pretty consistent here as well but nothing terrible For my entree, I ordered the chicken bowl and I was impressed! I was expecting something way more bland and the chicken was actually delicious! Being from Chicago and growing up eating great, authentic Mexican food I like to think I know good M food from bad. La Parrilla is as good as it gets in the Atlanta area. The food is always fresh and has outstanding taste. Enchilada sauce is clearly homemade, and portion sizes are excellent. Charro beans are world class (my guess is they put both bacon and chorizo in them). Only issue is i don't mind paying good money for their excellent marq's. but please add a little less ice. read more

I came here during a snowy night with a coworker and was thankful it was still open. Parking can be limited but it wraps around to the side of building. This place is located directly across from IHOP and Burger King. I was greeted and sat down right away by the hostess. It's been a minute since I sat down at a Mexican restaurant. I was definitely excited! There is complimentary chips and salsa like every single Mexican restaurant. The salsa got a tad bit spicy but nothing I can't handle. :) I ordered the first combo entree that include one hard taco, 2 enchiladas, and Mexican rice. If you are looking for an American Mexican restaurant, I think this place hits the spot!! Prices are pretty standard and there's plenty to choose from on their menu. Plenty of parking and the restaurant itself is big for inside and outside seating as well as big and small parties. I came on a Sunday and right when they opened. There were already a few people sitting and eating so that's a good sign to me !! I was seated quickly and drink orders were taken quickly. Chips and salsa are provided complimentary. Chips were fresh and hot, salsa had a slight kick to it and tasted good. I ordered taco loco which is a big taco shell stuffed with chicken or beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream. Chicken is seasoned and taco shell isn't oily or greasy tasting. I love it. My daughter got cheese quesadilla and rice with fruit. It's a perfect portion for kids and comes with a drink for less than $6. Their rice is so flavorful I wish I ordered a side of rice for myself ! This location was pretty hit or miss for a while but they have been really great recently. Their food is fresh and they have great service for the most part. They can be in consistent. I got "La parrilla burrito" and found multiple areas of undercooked meat. See the picture I posted as reference. Also, I had to keep spitting many pieces of meat while I was eating because of the chewy, rubber like texture. 0 stars if I could... La Parrilla, you broke my heart. After years of being a patron, what an absolute disaster. An hour and a half wait and no food, while 3 tables after us, got theirs. Ask for lemons, bring me limes, want a beer....wait 30 and then bring the wrong one, and then order food, nothing comes. I could see our server on the other side of the bar chatting it up, like he was on break. He was even kind enough to bring the check with the food included, we hadn't even been served!!! Then the manager said, we hope next time will be better...there is no next time buddy. From the staff who brought us the chips, to management, there's a lack of self awareness and complete smugness, beyond reproach. This is basically our go-to sit down Mexican restaurant near our house. We always eat in the restaurant, never getting the food to go because I don't think it heats up well. Or at least I haven't been able to heat it up well. Lol. All I have to do is say "Who wants to go to La Parrilla?" and my daughter shuts off her phone, my son logs out of the game he's playing and they're both ready to go. That's saying a lot for a couple of teenagers. It's always such a fun and festive environment where it's brightly lit with lots of families enjoying standard Atlanta style Tex-Mex fare. I've had Tex-Mex in Texas and they tell me we don't have real Tex-Mex in Atlanta so that's why I say Atlanta style Tex-Mex! Lol. At the hostess stand where they get your name and phone number so they can text you when your table is ready, they also have balloons with some type of small bag of animal crackers or Teddy grahams tied to the balloon. My "grown up" teenagers always want balloons. Lol. They're funny. When you sit down you are promptly greeted and served warm chips with cool salsa, not too spicy. I always get jalapenos on the side and a small queso. You can either get pickled jalapenos or fresh jalapenos. The fresh jalapenos are much hotter. Most the time I get pickled though. Many times we're there it's someone's birthday in the restaurant. How do we know? The servers are streaming from the kitchen with a dessert singing Happy birthday in Spanish (Feliz Cumpleaños a ti) and everyone joins in! Fun! We normally order burritos, enchiladas, tacos, nachos, chimichangas, or some combination. When the meals come out they tell you to be careful because the plates are hot. Yes they are piping hot. The food is always hot when it comes out and it's always delicious. Hits the spot. We all leave full and happy. Unfortunately, today was not a good experience. Unfortunately it was also my husbands 50th Bday and this is where he wanted to eat based on our last 5 star experience. We went for an early dinner in a Thursday afternoon. We arrived around 6, the restaurant was not too busy and there were plenty of tables, we were seated next to the drink station and the ramp where the staff was walking up and down from the kitchen. I asked to be move. We were moved one table over which had not been bused or cleaned. Our waiter literally picked up the empty cups and proceeded to put down the menus and silverware. I asked him to please wipe the table down before he got me new silverware. He walked away, literally sprayed in front of where I was going to sit, wiped only my spot (not the rest of the table) and placed the same silverware back on the table. My DH said to let it be because the kids were hungry and so was he. The chip person was right on point and our waiter George was very nice and attentive. Honestly, by that point I was pretty annoyed and sorry I had taken my husband there for his Bday. I could tell he was disappointed, he asked for a coke and not his usual beer. As with all my Mexican reviews, I'll let you know that Mexican is not my favorite cuisine, so my opinion may not be the same as that of someone who really likes it. My girlfriend, her roommate, and I got to-go from La Parrilla. As far as the food goes, it was ok but not great. The burrito I got was flavorful, but the sauce on it made the tomato flavor very heavy. The chips were crispy, but the salsa and guacamole weren't very flavorful. The guac and queso were also way overpriced. Unfortunately, we were missing multiple sides for the dishes we ordered. By the time we got the food home, we didn't have time to get back to them before they closed. And obviously, the rest of the food would have sat while we did that. We called and they said they would give us the missing sides, but again, we couldn't get there before closing. I don't want to be too critical of them, because I know that businesses are still struggling with staffing, but we got disappointing service in that regard, since I ended up paying a full meal price for just a burrito. I didn't go to inside to pick it up, so I can't comment on the atmosphere or restaurant. Maybe give them a shot, but check the bag before leaving with takeout. read more

Visited on a Friday night. Their vegetarian options are okay- no beyond meat/ impossible meat options. I tried the bean and cheese enchiladas they were what you'd expect. The sangria was good though! Service was also good. There is plenty of parking at this location there is parking in the front and behind the restaurant. read more

We came in late afternoon on a Tuesday so it wasn't super busy but there were still quite a few people. The service was good and the food came out quickly. My absolute favorite thing had to be the guava frozen margarita. The sizes are 10oz, 20oz and 32oz. Of course I for the 32oz and I was not disappointed. Reasonably priced, good Mexican food with great drinks. You will get your money worth and I would definitely visit again when I am in town. read more

This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Alpharetta! Lots of parking, never too long of a wait, delicious food and drinks. My go to dish is the steak fajita rice which I highly recommend! This visit was my annual cinco de mayo trip! Only waited about 20 mins and had a drink while we waited, a margarita. It was tasty but strong. Their salsa has a nice subtle heat and chips are well seasoned. We ordered cheese dip, the ranchero burrito and the de cerdo enchiladas. The food came out quick and it was yummy! The cheese dip is a thinner white queso and definitely hits the spot. The de cerdo enchiladas are slow cooked pork and the meat was juicy and tender. I love their rice and refried beans. This is my go to "traditional" meal at La parilla. My friend loved her ranchero burrito as well. Service was friendly and surprisingly quick on the big holiday. read more
