I've only came here during lunch, and it's just an unbeatable price if you are on a budget and need your Mexican food fix!!! I got a taco, enchilada, rice, beans, and a drink for only $4.95. Chips and salsa was complimentary. They are pretty busy for lunch and only had 1 server working. So if there's something extra you need, ask as soon as you see her or you won't for awhile. Food comes out after some time, not a huge wait but it tastes as a standard Mexican restaurant quality would. Portions are just right for lunch time and I left satisfied. People don't come here ** I have tryed multiple times to come here and give them a chance , but I cannot be insulted while I'm trying to order and I'm wanting something specific , I only asked for a torta and they gave me the hardest time . I ordered a torta with Milanese ( chicken breaded) ham and Oaxaca cheese , no lettuce extra avocado. Torta comes and I noticed no extra avocado and very sloppy , I tryed to fix the torta and it had chunks of onion and I had to separate the onion and I was trying to build it how I like it so i also noticed the cheese was not what I was coextensive so I ordered a side of fresh cheese and I ask the waiter if I capillary have a extra tomato because the torta bread was big but if I were to bite it half the torta would not have tomatoe, she said I had to pay a whole order I was fine with it too . I'm sitting there trying to add all these sides to my torta because it was not what's I ordered and the waiter comes to m and says " this is not your house and that's how we make them " I told her I do understand and that's the reason I ordered extra side which I don't mind paying extra , but I ordered the torta in a specific way and it was not brought to me how I order it . This place is the bomb for prices. Recommended by a fellow Yelper, our group had a great time: company, food, and prices. Don't judge a place by its exterior, some of the best eateries are a hole in the wall. My choice for the night was a tortas. The portion size was fairly large, and it was scrumptious. Of course, right? Since it was recommended by the all Elite God, Marcus. Lol. I do think the particular meat I choose was a tad bland (steak and chorizo). Don't worry. There were two h0t sauce bottles to choose from to add more flavor. The tortas bread was just right: not too much bread or thickness. I think if I had chosen another item, my experience would have been even better though. Should have gone with Marcus' rec. Buttons... With the tortas order and salsa and chips that were available, I was surely full and had to do the accustomed to-go box. Service was fairly decent. [TL;DR] I was the Duke here. That's how much I like this place. By this point, I've tried just about everything on the menu -- pretty much from soup to torta. It's all pretty good. At this point, though, I've settled on the torta being my favorite, specifically the Oaxaquena which is a chorizo, ham, fried egg, and avocado sandwich. Their service remains as friendly as ever. Service was quick, however I didn't feel like the place was clean at all. They had a fake A grade health inspection certificate on the wall which was funny, but concerning. As a vegetarian I felt like the waitress didn't properly understand my very simple requests or questions, even when I confirmed in Spanish. She also brought me veggie enchiladas with the refried beans on the plate when I specifically told her not to add them because they were not vegetarian. When I told her the mistake she got defensive. I never had this issue at similar Mexican places, even if the workers didn't speak English well. If you're a vegetarian or have dietary restrictions I do not recommend eating here. El Don and some other Mexican restaurants are a bit pricier, but at least they're friendly to dietary restrictions. read more

If you have no taste buds this is the place to go .. my wife, the Mexican Food Critic and experienced restauranteur ordered her favorite Flautas and got something that she nor I have EVER experienced. They were thrice cooked instead of being prepared and cooked fresh. On top of the worst Flauta ever was aged lettuce .. brown / sugared with a green tint .. so she returned that and ordered a Torta with Carnitas .. now we've had a LOT of Carnitas in our time to include in our own restaurant. The Carnitas that we had were at the end of their heat / reheat cycle ... she had 1 bite. She returned the Torta and GOT CHARGED for it. The server and manager even said not to come back. Three-plus stars. I've driven past this place hundreds of time without ever paying attention to this location because frankly, there's been quite a few Mexican restaurants in the area that are crap. They open, have a good run of a few months, then close-shop because they have nothing special to offer OR they are just fronts for illegal siamese cat-juggling. A coworker of mine suggested we try this place, and I obliged. That being said, it feels weird pulling into a strip mall with pet grooming and a few other non-descript store fronts but the kicker is the storage facility behind the mall, which is really awkward. Just an observation. As some other reviewers have said, the food is just OK, and the service is a little on the slow side. Not bad mind you, but nothing to write on the internet about (oh wait). The place was packed for lunch with a bunch of white folks, which tells a story unto itself, but not the whole story. Yeah, this place appeals to the suburbanites of Atlanta, but the food really isn't all that "Mexican" compared to what I've had all over Mexico. I get that there are different types, but I think this place has changed their dishes to match what the gringos like. Please don't. Guided by fellow-Yelpers to this taqueria, and enjoyed the chow. Chips and salsa served immediately, and server didn't bat an eye when we immediately asked for more salsa. The salsa is of the 'red sauce' variety (vice pico de gallo), and has good flavor. Chips were meh--I'm guessing they are bought in bulk, as they didn't taste fresh. Guacamole was very good, as was the queso dip, served with jalapeño. Margaritas were tasty, though I suspect they use Dash Tequila ("just add a dash!"). Service was excellent: prompt and friendly. I had the Ranchero burrito, and it was filled with asada, onions and peppers. Steak was good, as was the quality--gristle free. Served with rice and beans, which were just ok. Again, freshness came into play with the rice. Maybe it was because we had a late lunch, but the rice just seemed old. The biggest disappointment for me was cleanliness. I wouldn't say I'd drive out of my way to visit here, but if you want a casual night out at a Mexican restaurant in the area, it will serve the purpose. The parking lot is shared with another Mexican restaurant at the end of the plaza but there's still plenty parking in the lot. [Service]: The restaurant started to get more filled through the night, with the 2-3 servers covering majority of the restaurant. There were food runners bringing out the entrees. I would say that they are quite busy on weekend nights. Expect service to get a little slow once the restaurant fills outs. [Food Highlights]: Torta, Las Palmas ($6) - Recommended by our food guide for the night, Marcus O. This is definitely filling. The bread is slightly toasted to give it a little crunch as the inners get's that needed bit of sogginess of the meats and veggies. The crumbles of chorizo does spill out a bit when grabbing for a bite. The carne asada is marinated well. Both flavors mesh well and make this torta worth a try. For this amount of food and flavor, I'm not going to question how they are making money for what they charge. But I'll take one more for the road! Tacos Camarones ($2) - Though the torta was filling itself, I still wanted to try how their taco's stack up to what the other Mexican restaurants around Roswell offer. This version is served with the shrimp battered and deep fried, bits of lettuce and with generous portion of sauce similar to sriracha mayo. Not what I was expecting but decent. I think Taqueria San Pancho's grilled variety tops this one. Tacos (pork) pastor ($1.25) - I think this was one of the better taco's of the night. Though the pastor isn't as flavorful as other taco places it's still juicy and fared a lot better than the camarones. Thick slices topped with a couple of onions and other greens. Bottle of Corona ($3.50) - paired with a lime [Total Bill w/ Tip & Tax]: $13.64 {Summary}: I'm glad that our fellow yelper Marcus O. chose this place as our yelpers foodie dinner adventures. The value is awesome for the amount of good food that you get. Though it's a bit further up from the house, it's worth the drive for value for the food you get. My wife and I trust that the reviews on yelp that lead us into this place, and they were right on, we were pleasantly surprised at this place in a little strip mall could put out the high-quality food that it does. I enjoyed the quesadilla Texana, and my wife had the chicken fajita nachos, and we both love that they were piping hot, full of flavor and probably deliver to our table. The quesadilla was jam packed with delicious steak, shrimp, and chicken, and quite filled with large pieces they were almost like fajitas instead of quesadillaS. The best Mexican food my wife is had since you left Texas three years ago, don't let the outside for you, come inside and enjoy great food and authentic Mexican music. Young girl was our waitress. Extremely rude! She got annoyed when we asked for more chips and salsa even after we told them to charge us for them. She would roll her eyes infront of us. When the food came out the masa for the sopes were extremely hard!! We let her know and she just rolled her eyes and told us that, that's how they come. I stumbled upon Las Palmas because I moved about a mile away and was craving Mexican food. Originally I saw El Don & tried that.....I'll save that info for their review. Moving on...going through the plaza, I noticed Las Palmas and decided to give it a try. $3.99 margaritas, amazing lunch specials, yummy enchiladas, just all good. As a couple, my bf and I will get 2 entrees, tacos, a dip to start, AND multiple rounds of drinks and I don't think there's been a time we exceeded $40. My most recent discovery was the Filete Veracruz which is now in my top 5 favorite soup/broth dishes. This was my new spot to go when I needed my Mexican fix (which is about twice a week). I continue to stop by on my visits to GA as I have recently moved to FL. The staff is very polite and it just seems that everyone is helping out at the restaurant. LOST IN TRANSLATION! I found myself at this Mexican restaurant on a rainy Sunday morning. It was clean, warm and cozy. As we began to ask questions about the menu, I realized that our waitress was new and unfamiliar with the menu. I eventually ordered the chimichanga with rice and refried beans while my husband went with his favorite fajitas. Prior to ordering, I specifically asked about the chicken in the chimichanga because I like white shredded chicken. However, I learned (after receiving my dish), that the shredded chicken is dark and if you want white meat, you must order the grilled chicken. Overall, my dish was a disappointment due to the over-seasoned dark meat, the salty beans, heavily seasoned queso, (poured over the chimi) and rice that tasted packaged. On the other hand, my husband's generously sized fajita dish was perfect. It came with a bit of side salad and guac and was lightly seasoned so it balanced out the saltier items. This was definitely the better option. I do think that main dishes should come with the side salad so as to break up the carb overload and provide a more balanced bite. If I had to reorder my dish, I would definitely request the grilled chicken with the queso on the side and a side salad and guacamole. Customer service was very nice and attentive. I am pretty embarrassed to admit that I live 5 minutes from this place, yet I had never tried it up until a few weeks ago. Looking for a mexican spot other than our usual, this popped up on yelp with outstanding reviews. I am like, "WHAT??? This place is RIGHT down the street, what the..." So we made the hop skip and jump over that night and we were not disappointed. The food is authentic, hot, and tasty. They have $2.99 margaritas all day, everyday, all the time!!! You can get a plate of 3 enchiladas, rice, and beans for...wait for it...wait for it.....$6. I am talking about dinner time, not lunch. The only thing I could complain about is the service. While it wasn't terrible, it seemed like there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant which was bizarre considering there were probably 9 tables....this wasn't a one time thing either, because I noticed it when we went back a few days later, too...what can I say? Yucatan, and having worked in Central and South America, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico for 4 years, I can tell you Taqueria Las Palmas is the real deal. The food is always well prepared, and it is as authentic as it gets. If you know of something off the menu and they can make it, they will. I and my wife have been going there regularly for the past 4 years and have tried many different dishes and specialities - ALL of which are simply amazing. These guys are every bit as good as El Taco Veloz; however, for about the same price you get the same quality and size burrito, fiery hot counterbalanced fridge chilled green sauce (in mustard dispenser) and drink - sweet tea (next time I'll try the horchata) PLUS small mexican salad (shredded iceburg lettuce with guac / sour / pico de gayo) ... PLUS chips, PLUS you get homemade mild salsa (in a bowl) for dipping chips, and PLUS you get chilled mild smokey fridge chilled chipolte salsa (same ketchup / mustard squeeze bottle container as the green sauce). All the extra added bonus features for the same price as E.T. Veloz. Tortilla chips are nothing special and they do not have a lightning fast "order at the counter" service area but the place still it is much larger and nicer than most El Taco Veloz locations (and air conditioned). The waitresses are very sweet, attentive, attractive and understand English / gringo speak. No self service salsa bar either but they are giving you full bottles of those fresh homemade / chilled premium salsas (in those catchup / mustard containers that for some reason I just love the shit out of) AND a bowl of mild salsa so this is truly a unique breakthrough or odd variation in the Atlanta area (where you get one or the other but almost never both). The food here is okay. I usually order the lunch special #4 which is taco, enchilada, beans and rice. Everything taste alright for the $5 special. The rice is bland but when eating it along with the other components, it's not too bad I guess. The service to go is fast and friendly. I suggest having your taco wrapped or boxed separately, otherwise it will get wet and soggy when placed along the side of the enchilada and beans. My part time gig is in Alpharetta, and every single Friday, I stop by Las Palmas for my lunch break. I always order the same thing, two carne asada tacos, two chicken tacos and a red and green hot sauce on the side. The word that best describes Las Palmas is CONSISTENT!!! Their tacos are awesome, well seasoned, the carne asada and chicken are always flavorful and juicy as well. Every single time it's topped with everything(cilantro and fresh chopped white onion, served with thin sliced radish as well) The thing I absolutely adore about their tacos is that they only use 1 tortilla to encase the tacos.
