My dining partner had made the suggestion a few times in the past few weeks and we finally got to Mod Pizza on Grand Avenue. Parking is very easy with plenty of spots right in front. Inside, it's very clean and customer service is very friendly. The menu board is easy to figure out. I just didn't know that I could design my own pizza until they told me. Also, for some reason I couldn't figure out that they had a thicker crossed which goes by a different name. In any case, I got my order placed easily and with a friendly, helpful staff. My dining partner ordered a pizza with non-dairy cheese and was very happy with it. Our pizzas were ready in about 10 minutes, and piping hot when served to us precut! DELISH! HEALTHY! NOT SALTY, NO PRESERVATIVES! I will definitely return to mod Pizza.

Great Awesome #pizza . Everyone needs to come eat here!!.. a good pizza I ordered here. Here for the first time. And I love it. two thumbs up!!..

I love this place for a quick lunch. I call it the Subway of pizzas. I really like that you can put on as many toppings that you want with no extra charge per ingredient. Also, when the pizza comes out of the oven around 5-6 minutes it's hot and crispy. That's need to open one up in Grayslake.

Love the huge selection you have for ingredients for them to make the pizza for you! Even loved the choice of beverages...I chose rose wine in the can...not too bad. The pizza crust on top and sides of pizza was delicious and crunchy. Unfortunately, the pizza had a slight soggy bottom. Not sure how they can fix this issue...I keep having visions of some wood-fire grills where the bottom is not soggy. Maybe leave pizza on grill longer?

I really like the create your own pizza! Not only can you select from numerous ingredients, most of the servers will let you add a little extra if you'd like.

The quality of the food from this location has gone down over the last few years. The crust is typically squishy, and the amount of toppings is pathetic especially if you go with a pizza from the board. Some pieces have a couple of small ingredients sometimes making the distribution being done carelessly. They're also lacking quality control; we've received pizzas without cheese or other toppings altogether. At times the size of the pizza can vary greatly in size even if you get the MOD size. The only suggestion I would have if you go here is to be very specific and monitor them closely while they make your pizza. Don't make an order and walk to the register like they suggest. Otherwise there are much better options besides MOD Pizza where you can get better quality and consistency. On a positive note, the people are generally nice and accommodating.

Enjoyed Mod so much that I had a craving for it after Six Flags. It was opened late n I knew being lactose intolerant 2 of us couldnt eat thick cheesy Lou Manaltis so had to stop here. Loved it. Loved piling on toppings and seeing it all come together. It's always a yummy concoction. So good. And fresh. Really enjoyed it. Mine was earthy bc I love putting arugula in mine and tons of veggies. Love how they open late here and still we can get fresh food. Great alt option while rest eats Chicago style pizza take out few blocks down. I love how Mod makes their crust pretty crispy. This location is nice and clean too and workers were kind and friendly even so late at night so that was nice. Will def stop here for pizza fix after lomg day at the park!

This place was pretty packed on a Wednesday dinner rush. But surprisingly the line went quickly. In case you don't know how it works, you pick your pizza size (set price) and any topping(s) you desire. There is the "Mini," which is the 6" for $4.87 (TINY!) or u can get a side salad for that price. Then there's the 11" MOD pizza or entree salad for $7.87 and lastly the Mega, which is the double layer 11" crust pizza for $10.87 or family size salad for that price. For the price they charge, it is definitely NOT worth it. Especially if you are super hungry. You're better off going to Pizza Hut or little caesars to "fill up" We ordered the mega, which has two layers of crust stacked on top of each other. This wasn't worth it at all. And our dough was under done and every bite was doughy and it was pretty disgusting. We got it to go so it was too late to complain. The double crust seems like a cheap attempt to make you think you're getting a larger pizza when in reality, it's just two THIN pie crust layered on top of each other with no fillings in between. If there was some filling (like cheese) to have some depth, I can see the extra charge but with the pie being so thin to begin with, the extra charge doesn't add anything. So you are better off getting the MOD for $7.87 And let me tell you about the Garlic Strips we got. It was ridiculous. It's a 6" THIN pie crust cut into 8 pieces, lightly baked with some garlic butter. BAM! $2.97! When I opened the box, it looked very plain and underwhelming. SO NOT WORTH IT. The employees who were taking the order were really nice and know what they are doing. The girl who was calling our names for pick up looked overwhelmed. She gave the wrong pizza to a customer and the customer who was supposed to get that wrong pizza was now left with no pizza and had to wait for another pizza to be made. And the customer who got the wrong pizza had to wait for a new one too. She was having a hard time keeping track of pizza labeled with names.... With how busy they were, they should've have two expediting and also, with so many boxes being left on the pick up counter, it would be nice to have the names labeled on there in case someone grabbed the wrong one. Or use a numbering system rather than names. I feel like if I'm getting an artesian pizza the quality should be better. Sure, their ingredients may be "fresh" but this joint is just a lower end version of a California Pizza Kitchen. Anyway, they're getting a 2 star review due to undercooked pizza dough. I even asked the cashier how long it takes to bake the pizza and he said 5 mins. (Thinking to myself... This is a bit fast even for a thin dough) From when we paid and sat down to having our name called, it took about 5 mins and sure enough, we came home with undercooked dough. You can tell they were serving the pizza way faster than they should. For a pizza place you would think they would know how to time their pizzas correctly....

This was my first time visiting Mod Pizza and I was not disappointed! It was very busy when I came in, I guess because of the dinner rush on a Friday night, but the staff seemed to have a good system in place to keep the line moving because they moved us along very quickly and within 20 or so minutes of entering the store I had my to-go pizza packed in a box and ready to go! Parking outside was plentiful, even though it was a busy evening. One thing I should mention, as a mom of a baby: it can be pretty loud inside, as lots of restaurants are with the music and all the chatter and yelling in the kitchen, which is to be expected, but if your little one doesn't appreciate loud environments then you might want to take your food to go, as we did. I absolutely loved that you could get as many toppings as you want for no extra charge. We'll definitely be back in the future!

11" w/light red sauce, veggies, & veggie Italian sausage.

Best pizza spot around, at least in my opinion! Was immediately greeted upon walking in. Pizza is made fresh to order. Best part- unlimited toppings for one price. Prep area was clean. Incredibly nice staff. Vegan Italian sausage and vegan cheese available!!!! I will definitely make this my go-to spot!

Delicious pizza with lots of veggies and chicken. Reminds me of pizza in Europe.

The food I had was pretty tasty, I got to try the chicken and beef shawarma plate - very expensive but very tasty, big portion enough for 2 meals. I also tried the beef kifta kabob wrap with a side of falafel- delicious! They threw in an extra falafel as well, thanks! There is also plenty of seating inside if you want to dine in. My only negatives are they do not give free cups of water, you have to buy a bottle if you want a drink. And they only include one tiny cup of hot sauce with your order. Overall, it was a good experience, if you want Mediterranean and you're in Gurnee it's not a bad choice.

Young lady at cash register/ counter took time to fully explain menu and make recommendations. So very helpful. Their dining room, which was immaculate manager, Rose was so nice and very proud of her success there. Young man, manager also came by our table and gave us great background on this national chain. Service simply off the charts amazing. Had chopped brisket sandwich, piled high with superb quality smoked meat and sauce. Even something simple as fries were crispy, hot, well seasoned. My ex wife had sliced brisket and green beans. Generous portions and delicious. Fantastic selections of really tasty sauces. Large selection of cold drinks. Fantastic decor paying tribute to military, police, fire. Oh yeah, fairly priced for an outstanding overall experience. Highly recommended on every level. A real gem. Gave us a few samples of sauces to take home to top off an already excellent dining experience.

The Cuisine Umpire says: "Three Strikes and You're OUT!"…read moreHere's the third Yelp I've done about "Mission BBQ" and I'm afraid the Mission was NOT accomplished. The last time we went to one, (In Naperville, IL q.v. my Yelp for it), We were totally bummed as it was a truly disappointing feed, bordering on the inedible: A piece of "Prime Rib" not ready for prime time, adipose pulled pork, and ribs with bone shrapnel. Ug. We had to pick up Grandson and Date from Six Flags Great America down the road, and we were early enough to wedge dinner in before we were expected at the park. Nothing else looked appetizing in the stretch of Illinois 132 just west of G.A., so we figured the last time at Mission was SO awful, it had to be a fluke, and this store should CERTAINLY be better. It wasn't. We both had "2 meat" plates- I with Ribs, Sausage and Wife had Ribs and pulled pork. We both had slaw and fries. The pulled pork was the least offensive of the proteins. This time, it was the opposite of last time--not so fatty, and not so flavorful either. Dry and insipid. The Sausage was mushy and strangely lacking in real flavor. And the goddamned Ribs were the same ineptly butchered mess we ran into in Naperville. Shards of Bones at the top of the cut. Slightly over-smoked/over-cooked as well. WTF? That much of the same criticism of Naperville was in play here made us think this is the way things are served at Mission BBQ and not an anomaly. A mention to the manager wouldn't help things. Now in the "Every theory has a corollary" dept: As in Naperville the slaw, fries and cornbread were pretty good; as was the Iced Tea and fountain drink "throw". The sauces were all pretty good too. Wished there was some decent "Q" to put them on. Maybe it's just our taste, or we are spoiled by "Q" in our visits to the South, but there's no excuse for the lazy butchering of the ribs, or the mushiness of the sausage. I know "corporate" chains tamp down spices in the "come bet" common palates will desire a less bold cuisine, but DAMN! this is BARBEQUE. American Q is NOT a "safe" proposition. This isn't the cuisine to play it safe. Then again, it's not meant as an insult, but Suburban denizens (unless you're a suburb of, say...Austin Texas) prolly aren't in for foods meant to challenge. I see enough 5star Yelps indicating a lot of folks like this place; so I'll assume Wife and I are the outliers. We haven't found a whole lot of Suburban Northern Q supremely edible. The whole mishegoss is a dilemma, as Mission BBQ is deep into honoring our service Men & Women. We are, too. That a portion of the (considerable) cash we left there goes to Service folks soothes at least part of the sting of a lousy feed...

I was very interested to try the food here after trying a couple items that were served at a friend's party. I asked to say Hi to the owner as a entrepreneur myself. They said they would be out shortly at my request, being my first time and spending well over $300 to try some of their dishes I was extremely insulted to see that the owner never had the courtesy to say Hello as I waited. In my world, "old school" customer service is success because without customers you have nothing. I also believe that you should always remember where you came from.
