If you're from Cali, you probably think you've had Chicago-style pizza because you've seen a deep-dish pie or two, right??? Yeah... I thought that too!!! Turns out, I was very wrong!! So wrong!! A REAL Chicago pizza is basically a full-blown cheese & toppings filled pie with a thick bottom crust, generous amount of cheese and the sauce piled on top like the grand finale. We stopped at Giordano's in Gurnee and ordered a 14-inch build-your-own w beef, mushrooms, and onions. "Large" apparently means "feeds a small village" because this thing was massive, easily enough for a family of 5!!! Every slice came with that dramatic, slow-motion cheese pulls that make everyone at the table stop talking and start taking pictures!!! The ingredients tasted fresh, the cheese was gloriously gooey, and each slice was hearty enough to qualify as a meal and a half. We also grabbed the mozzarella triangles and buffalo wings bc apparently self-control wasn't invited to dinner. The mozzarella triangles were crispy, cheesy little pockets of happiness, and the wings brought just the right amount of buffalo kick. Both were absolutely delicious and disappeared way faster than they should have. The service was fantastic too!! Drinks never stayed empty for long, and the staff was attentive throughout the meal. We walked out stuffed, happy, and officially educated on what REAL Chi-town pizza is supposed to be!! If you're visiting Chicago, Giordano's is absolutely a must!!! read more

So someone suggest I try the classic deep dish pizza at this place but I tried the meat lover's and it did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside, and the layers of gooey cheese, rich tomato sauce, and flavorful toppings made every bite a dream. Yes, the wait time was a bit long -- about 30-35 minutes -- but that's expected with a true deep dish, and trust me, it's totally worth it. Well I finally had my first true Chicago deep dish pizza! I would've added more photos but I was a little too excited to eat. I had wings, yes delicious! I had a deep dish pizza with a side salad and lemon Greek dressing, yes delicious! I can only say this food did not disappoint at all. One thing you must know is the deep dish pizzas take 45 made-to-order minutes, so don't act surprised while you're waiting. It says it takes that long, in writing, on the menu, people! Customer service was horrible. Went there on 8/24/2024.. waited at a table for 45 minutes without our drinks. Finally they came took our order and we got our drinks. Food came but we didn't get the cheese sticks we ordered and the chicken wings either. Never was asked if we needed refills at any time during our time there. I went to this location today for the first time and I normally go to Chicago location when I want a Chicago style pie. But I was told that this location was good also and I brought a friend who it was her first time trying this pizza and style pizza and we were both disappointed. I came back after three years of not having come since my last experience was not that good. I have to say this establishment has definitely improved! Our waiter was nice and attentive the entire time. The service was not as slow and the food came out warm and tasted good. I enjoyed the Caesar salad, though I would suggest asking for dressing on the side. The pizza was very cheesy and had a lot of toppings. The onion pieces were really big so I'd also suggest cutting back on those. The pizza was good but not the best compared to other parlors. I am giving this restaurant three stars because, although it has improved, it is still average. This would not be the first place I'd recommend for a deep dish but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to coming here for a dinner with family or visitors. We ordered 3 pizzas and a salad tonight. We've had great deep dish pizza from here previously and it was always very good. We tried the thin crust tonight and all three were, well, terrible. The crust was flavorless, and I had to look very closely to confirm that pepperoni was on my pepperoni pizza. The pie was topped with a thick slab of cheese, which hadn't quite softened. I am so glad Giordano's is opening again. And it has a new pizza that is incredible! Today I got to have a Margarita Parmesan Crust pizza and it is now my new favorite. They have 5 different types of parmesan crust pizzas and I will try them all as soon as I can. I love to take home dinner from here. It is a bit more expensive, but I prefer to pay for good quality ingredients. And I always have enough food for more than one meal, unless my kids get into my refrig without asking me!
