So when I found a Ledo's in Prince Frederick, MD, perched up on a hill off Route 4, I felt that same spark of excitement. I was visiting relatives, we wanted pizza, and suddenly -- there it was. I couldn't believe my luck. I ordered two pizzas: a large cheese for myself, and another with green peppers and pineapple for everyone else. (Yes, pineapple and green peppers really do work together.) But the joy didn't last. It started with something small -- paying. I used a credit card and was told to hit one of the white buttons. Next thing I knew, the screen was asking for a tip for carryout. A tip... for carryout. It felt wrong. I'm a generous tipper when someone serves me -- 25% is normal for me -- but this felt like being pressured into something that didn't make sense. I backed out of the transaction, already feeling a little deflated. Still, I couldn't wait to get back to my relatives' house. The pizzas looked beautiful -- loaded with toppings, cooked perfectly. My mouth was watering. This was supposed to be one of those comforting, nostalgic Ledo's moments. And then it wasn't.
