Came here for a quick lunch. Love that they offer several sizes (including a mini) as well as salads. I built my own mini pizza and it was delicious. I do wish they had a little more topping options but overall we enjoyed our food. The no-name cake was unexpectedly delicious. Very friendly staff but there was only one person making the pizzas so we had to wait a little. But no big deal for us. Love the decor. One thing to note: parking was a little tricky on a Saturday afternoon - they share a parking lot with a Chipotle and I think some of the indoor pickleball people use this as overflow. read more

If I could give this location zero stars, I would. the customer service was by far the worst I have ever experience. The two employees were not friendly, hardly looked or spoke to us, were as slow as sloths and had bad attitudes when we were spoken to - like were were bothering them. We walked in and one employee was cleaning and sweeping for at least 5 minutes before even acknowledging that we were standing there and there was NO one else in line. Both of the employees were on their phones and drinking their drinks PRIOR to taking our order and then went back to that after taking our order. I usually do take out at this location so can't speak to eating in but they always do a good job with preparing my order and having it ready on time. Love the Dillon James with the balsamic fig glaze and they have quality mushrooms when I decide to add to my order. MOD pizza is well... MODerate...Mediocre... Average... So-so... you get my drift. Although I like the MODern concept of adding your own toppings in a Chipotle kind of assembly line style, the pizza itself lacks pizazz. The toppings, while plentiful, were rather bland. Yes, you have your choice of over 30 toppings with just one price point, and that's the real draw here, but I wasn't impressed with the quantity over quality. I would've preferred marinated artichokes with some flavor, for example. The crust was chewy, and didn't hold the ingredients well... floppy pizza, not my thaaang! The salad,too, was just okay. On the plus side, the food is pretty cheap, it's pretty fast, and if you're your palate isn't too picky, you may be satisfied with this pizza chain. I had thrown my business card in the fishbowl a while back. Well, I received a call that I had won a free pizza party for up to 25 pizzas and/or salads - my choice of eat in or take out. So how nice is that!?!?! During these COVID times, I decided I would do a pick up and take it to my office where they are still working on site for a lunchtime treat. The pizza was pretty good, I must say, but my overall first impressions were not overwhelmingly positive. We entered this new location, and "new to me" pizza joint, after 7pm, and it wasn't terribly busy. We browsed the posted menu ideas and noticed the holder for the "cheat sheets" was empty. Drat! What is a cheat sheet for MOD Pizza? Oh well. We waited for the couple ahead of us to order, and when it was our turn, the guy just stood and looked at me. I stared back, waiting for him to ask me had I been to MOD before and for him to maybe give me to lowdown, but no. Finally he did ask what he could get for me, so I told him there were 3 if us and so we started ordering up our pizzas. One of us ordered a plain cheese, which was made quickly and disappeared pretty quickly. Our other orders took a few moments longer to prepare, in hindsight I would have liked more control over my custom build, but the dude just started piling on the cheese before I could really instruct on how I wanted my pizza built. I also know now that they do have sea salt and oregano at the end of the line, just need to not let them whisk the pizza away before requesting a dash of that before they toss my pie in the oven. While we waited to check out, we just observed some very nonengaged employees puttering around, there was no positive vibe about the place. Once we got our drinks and seated ourselves, we observed several tables that needed cleaning, and tall stacks of plates that were just piling up and being ignored. Once our pizzas were ready, we were each pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture of the pizza. The crust is superduper thin, with some of that bubbly burnt outer edge. So now there are 3 "fast fired" pizza establishments in RVA, and this is closest to home. Based on taste, customer service, and cleanliness, I'd say this would be my 3rd pick. We did not see even one employee cleaning up in or around the tables or seating areas. Customer service goes a long way with me and I felt it was very lacking. But we will definitely give MOD another shot, I mean this location has been open for less than a week, sure they will have some staffing kinks to work out. Again...pizza very good though. read more

The Mod I used to go to closed so I came to this one. It was a little hard to find since the gps just told us "arrived" while we were driving down the street. It's right in front of Regency "mall". They have cute outdoor seating in the front. They have stopped serving certain things, like shakes-not sure if it's temporary or forever. They have blocked off some of their tables for social distancing. We were the only people in there so service was pretty quick. You can order ahead for pick up. Food was delicious per usual. I give this a 3 star instead of a 2 star rating because they made an effort to rectify our issue. This is about our first visit to this paticular location. The restaurant had approximately four or five patrons eating. The drink area was dirty and sticky. We noted later that both heads (restrooms) need attention, too. Upon arrival to the order que, my wife and I noted three line employees moving the food coolers around, apparently looking for a "ink pen". They were wearing no protective gloves and VERY close to the open food. The first employee noticed us and stated that they would be right with us. After approximately three to four minutes and a unsuccessful treasure hunt, they started our order. After putting on the sauce, they stopped. We then noted a employee with keys and cell phone in hand was behind us. They started her order then and moved her along ahead of us. (SMH...) After making our two "build your own very slowly" pizza's, we paid. I waited near the pick up area, and did notice the female running the oven seemed quite inexperienced and somewhat confused on what she was doing. When she thought they were done, she handed the order to me, not asking if we needed utensils. We started eating our quick lunch, (we had a appointment pending) and noted that my pizza was burnt on the bottom. My wife's pizza had broccoli on top, which was burned. (Well actually, it looked like a US Navy F-4C Phantom dropped napalm cannister it from 500 feet AGL) We called over a female employee who was passing and showed her our food. She said she would inform the manager. The manager never arrived, and time was not on our side now. So I got two boxes, packed things up to salvage the food at home later and proceeded to leave. The female who went to the manager saw us leaving, and said the manager offered us broccoli to take with us to take home! We declined, thinking how idiotic THAT was! (Insert me rolling my eyes here) My wife called the next day, and talked to the female manager on duty. She was quite apologetic and took her name and order information/time, etc. She said we had to free meals when we returned. (We thank her for that, BTW) We did return yesterday and had lunch. It was much cleaner. The pizza was ok and edible, but sloppily made. I don't know WTH that first manager was thinking, or why a lost ink pen was so important they had to break food safety protocol- SO.... I think the next time we travel to the Regency Mall area, we'll stick to McDonald's. Maybe you should, too. read more

wow!! great service when I walked in and the build your pizza for a set price is awesome. so many options I loved it.

Where do I even start. This MOD pizza (regency) is the only location I go to and am pleased with my pizza EVERY time, except today. Unlike many others i get the exact same order from start to finish and only today have I ever had a problem. My first issue (all with the same lady, white female, probably 30-40) was when everyone else had their name called upon the finish of their pizza BUT me, luckily i had stood up to check and there my pizzas were boxed and sitting left for anybody to grab. Unsure if they were mine, i peeked into the corner of the box and confirmed they were, okay. Second issue, I had politely let her know that i would have liked bbq, balsamic, and pesto drizzle and was refused because "i touched the box so she cannot". She then told me I was to let them know at the first station if i had wanted anything after- which mind you has never ever been a "thing" but even if it was nobody down that end had asked. So she begins putting them in soufle cups. Now im no expert but i dont think i should be dipping my slices of pizza into balsamic DRIZZLE. Its a drizzle for a reason. If im not mistaken, that final station is where you are to order things such as that and she didnt not ask me either. Manager or not, you do not get to make up rules based on what you do and do not feel like doing. Even during covid the "cant do it because you touched the box" was never a things and HOW ABOUT you do your job and ask before you box it up and plop it on the counter without me being aware or even having a chance to ask for these things to go on top. Her attitude was disgusting and based of prior reviews this is not her first or possibly even last time being nasty and unpleasant. Her face showed disgust to even hear my request let alone the carelessness of leaving my pizza unattended and not even letting me know it was ready AS SHE DID for everyone else before me. I thank god for the many years in the restaurant industry I walked away and even tried to understand her piss poor customer service, but here it is 20 minutes later and I am still baffled as I dip my pizza in sauce that should have been on the pizza already. Count your days miss "manager" or whoever you are. I hope not to encounter you again as you should no longer work there. Im not sure yet if I like Mod. It reminds me of Blaze pizza alot. Im sure they've been compared before. I think what makes them different is the way they charge for the crust and you can build with any and every topping you want. The staff was super nice, and the layout was too but the pizza was underwhelming. Not bad-just not great or anything new. I was a lil disappointed it didn't have ant vegan options. All pizza places should have meat alternatives like "beyond meat" and vegan cheese imo. I was stuck with just a basic cheese pizza, and tried to add 3 cheeses to give it a boost. It was mainly the crust that ruined it for me. I wont judge off this visit though, I will give it another try maybe it was an off day. read more

New place I checked out on a rainy saturday. Cool concept, good taste. We both got the mod size which is good , but to me to slice in 4 pieces is simply too big a slice. 8 or even 6 makes more sense. Unlike NY style where you can fold it, the crust is thin and crisp. I liked ed , but you cant fit the piece in your mouth with out it hitting the sides of your mouth. I would go back. We love their pizza half the time. They are very inconsistent! Today we ordered our pizza's delivered as we usually do. I always get the same pizza, but it always looks different. Sometimes it's perfect. Sometimes it's soggy. Today it came with no parchment in the box which causes all the moisture from the pizza to soak into the box, so the pizza is dry. Also today the pizza is black on the bottom - not an enjoyable experience. It's always a crap shoot as to whether I'll get a good pizza or a bad one. When I get a good one, I feel lucky and decide to order from them again. When it's a bad one, then I'm wondering who else I could order good pizza from. They just built this MOD Pizza at Regency Mall. My guess is it's been here about a month. I actually ate here a few days ago and the pizza was sooo good that I would have rated it 5 Stars had I had time and remembered to take pictures. However it was so good that I went back again today for dinner. Ordered the same exact Pizza except this time I ordered extra cheese and accidentally left off the broccoli. I noticed Once I arrived and the pizza came out of the oven that it didn't appear to have extra cheese. I asked if that was considered extra cheese because that's what I ordered. Instead of her making the Judgment by looking at the pizza she looked at the ticket and said yeah it's extra cheese. I'm sorry but this does not have extra cheese. Not only does it not have extra cheese, appearance-wise it's not very appealing. Everybody that makes pizzas knows to spread your items out as well as the cheese all over the pizza not just in the middle. And I feel the person presenting your food should look at it and say something if it doesn't look right but yeah that didn't happen. The pizza still taste good but when I am paying for a product I like it to look like it should look and I like to get what I asked for. This is my favorite place to get pizza. It is all made to order just the way you want it. Fixed prices based on size not quantity of toppings or ingredients. Pizza, salad, shakes, draft and even canned wine. It's all here and it's all good! I never have a bad visit and the establishment is always very clean. May be a little dirty during busy times but it's definitely the cleanest place in Richmond when it comes to a food place. Tyrone is the best guy to have in charge of this establishment and he truly puts in the effort to make everyone happy. MOD Pizza crushes the competition in terms of flavor, toppings, and dipping sauce! I normally stick to a basic pizza, red sauce with pepperoni and something green to make it healthy . The crust is just the right consistency, and complements the toppings perfectly. Also, the balsamic fig glaze is amazing. MOD should really bottle that stuff up and sell it! I visited yesterday on a lunch date with my son, and service was fast, our orders were accurate, and the atmosphere was upbeat in spite of the rain. Kudos also to the cute little young lady who was manning the pizza oven. She always has a nice, friendly smile and provides a great customer experience! read more

Compared to other locations, this place needs work. The food was just thrown together and not really crafted/engineered. Also, the person who made my pizza didn't change gloves when handling the dairy free cheese. People with food allergies should be careful. The area with the toppings was a mess and there were ingredients that got mixed into each other. Speaking of mess, the oven area had food all over the floor. This place seems unorganized compared to the other MOD pizzas I've been to. For the most part, half the people were friendly so if I was dragged back in there, I wouldn't mind. read more

Love the pizza but the last two customer service experiences will never have me coming back to Regency location. If they are short-staffed, need to turn off mobile options to order and pickup. Last week wait was 20 min last time but at least staff was civil and apologized for delay. Last night I put in order at 6:15. At 6:45 was greeted by belligerent manager that maybe I need to just tell her district manager they need more staff. By 7pm they had not started any mobile orders and requested a refund. One employee points me back to belligerent manager who with a major attitude thrusts the receipt and said "you won't get credit back for 3-5 days". No apology, no kindness and what kind of customer skills is this teaching the other employees if this is how the manager behaves? If she has an issue with her district manager, that is not for customers to know. Cringy and other potential customers exited also. Regrettable as the product is nice when it is actually delivered. Dining kit and pickup should be a treat, not a chore with an empty stomach to boot. Nuckols Rd and other out of town options will be my location of choice if I can move past this awful experience. read more

The customer service was so bad that I made a yelp just to do the business and their future customers a favor. (I've never been to a MOD Pizza before and I am never coming back lmao) Because yelp is mostly for the food I will say that this is the most average pizza I've ever had. Nothing outstanding. (too much cheese, too little flavor, too little care) This was THE worst display of "customer service" I have ever witnessed. The manager/person in-charge, stopped in the middle of my order just to abusively yell at one employee to clock out. The girl clocked out and sat there and waited for her ride. Back to my order. I was not told the total. I was not asked if I wanted a drink. I was not given a receipt. I had to ask. The woman in-charge had the worst attitude I have ever seen. She was banging and clanging tool and was extremely short with other customers. She kept saying "I'm done I'm done I'm done with this shit", to another employee. I finally got my pizza (undercooked), and realized after that the woman in-charge was not using gloves and was touching my pizza. I noticed after I saw her touching other's pizzas. If I wasn't so hungry I would have given her the pizza back. I sat and ate my entire pizza while watching the horror show that was customer service. When I finally left, the girl waiting for here ride was still there, with here head down, and was crying. *I work down the street for a mom and pop shop that has been there for many years. We have great customer relations and a good, honest business. I can't believe that my first time out to lunch here that I would witness the worst display of attitude I have ever seen. Believe me. This woman, was throwing a fit. Her emotions were not wasn't constructive towards the business because her employees clearly lacked leadership. Love that all pizzas and salads are the same price (only 7.87) for as many or as few toppings as you want. I went with a seasonal menu option and it was delicious. Pizza toppings are fresh and generous for fixed price 11 inch pizza. --$8.25 with tax -- Service is fast and friendly. It's like subway style ordering. They bake the pizza for 5 minutes in a gas flame oven and have some additional sauces like balsamic glaze you can get after bake. My main concern is the cracker crust that comes frozen and is "pressed" in a machine to a very very thin skin. After bake, the crust has no flavor. It's like eating toppings off a thin piece of cardboard. Not my kind of pizza. My mantra - pizza is 85% crust and 15% toppings. If you like flavorless crust, this is your place! read more
