My family was visiting from out of town and got into Richmond pretty late, so our dinner options were a little bit limited. Luckily Lee is open until 9 PM, and I have been meaning to try this place on the recommendation of many friends. When we got there, the drive-through line wrapped around the parking lot, when we walked in, the one inside was equally long. They were so busy that they had to pause orders for a little bit, but the major hold up was with the wings. The way the counter was incredibly nice and helpful. When we told her it was our first time, we ended up deciding to get the chicken tenders and the eight piece family meal. Because we opted to not get the wings since we were hungry, our food came out very quickly. They were kind enough to also include an extra piece in both! The size of the pieces were also very generous, and between the three of us, we had plenty of leftovers. The chicken itself was crispy and delicious, and I loved the wide variety of sauce options that they had. the potato wedges were also great, though I found the mac & cheese and green beans a little bit forgettable. The cashier had told us that the apples were one of her favorite signs, and they were definitely delicious! I discovered Lee's about a decade ago when a coworker took me there for lunch, and the spicy chicken had me in a chokehold from day one. The heat was perfect, the coating crispy, and the wedges were always on point. I couldn't come to Richmond without grabbing spicy wings. So when the owner decided to stop making the spicy wings and convert the fry station to breast strip fryers, that was it for me. That spicy recipe was the reason I came. Lees chicken on Broad Street Richmond has fallen off as far as the quality of service and food is concerned. I ordered five, three piece dinners Friday February 6, 2026 and me and family ended up with upset stomachs from the meals. The chicken seemed as if it was cooked in burt cooking oil. The macaroni and cheese was runny with liquid in it. The potato wedges were not fully cooked as if the staff was in a rush to serve customers in the drive thru. I had already had a problem in the same store at lunch time on the same day. The young lady in the drive thru window did not understand English very well and therefore she messed up my order. I had to get out the car and come to try to get a refund. The managers did not apologize initially. After about 10 minutes I stopped one of the managers that came from the back and I told her my problem. She did her best to try to fix the problem. Later, the manager on the serving line finally apologized. I was told that Lees Chicken was one of the best in Richmond. Well, I have had three bad experiences in less than a week and a half. I tried to give this establishment a chance three times. First, you have to fully cook the food before you sell it to customers or someone is going to get sick lick we did. I MISS THEIR HERB ROAST CHICKEN. Not sure why they got rid of it along with their spicy fried recipe. Otherwise, although this is a small chain beyond Virginia, Lee's is a Richmond staple for some quick, cooked-right fried chicken and chicken tenders. Been coming here for yeeeeaaaars. They also have fantastic potato wedges and biscuits. The drive-thru line can get so long that it holds up traffic in that shopping center which should tell you a lot. They sometimes get my order wrong but I just chalk it up to the fast food experience. They never give me grief when I go to correct it, so all is well that ends well. My stomach can't handle too many fast food spots, but Lee's is one of the few that doesn't make my insides revolt. read more

Friday 3/22/2024 I found about this place from the comment section of a foodie on tiktok so I had to see what it was about for myself. This is a local fast food spot in Richmond with drive thru and that's exactly where I went. I got a 2pc strip meal with wedges & hot apples $10, a 2pc mixed snack $6, and a few of their sauces: honey mustard, ranch, and bbq. The chicken strips were pretty good. The sides for the meal: wedges & hot apples were decent. The 2 pc mixed chicken snack was decent but I'd definitely take the breast over the thigh. The only notable sauce was the honey mustard but If I was ranking them I'd say: honey mustard first, then ranch, and then bbq sauce. I have to sat that the chicken was well seasoned, moist, and a little bit spicy. That little spot of heat on the back of that crunchy bite is oh, so, delicious! Great place! It is the only Lee's location in VA! It is a casual chicken fast food joint. As long as you come at a good time they're very quick with your order. Their breast strips are scrumptious and very filling! They have many house sauces to choose from which are all super good & they don't charge extra for the sauce which is a bonus! They have a variety of sides - but you always have to get the potato wedges, although sometimes they aren't as crispy as I'd like they're still very good & perfect to dip in the sauces. Certainly can't complain about the biscuits either. I just wish that drinks came with meals instead of substituting sides or paying extra and that they also offered chicken sandwiches since that's usually my go to but overall it's definitely worth a visit! read more

The Mac and Cheese, which sometimes can get dried out when made in bulk, held up great and was a bowl of creamy goodness. This is the go-to spot for chicken fingers in Richmond! I have been here several times (including my first meal ever when moving to Richmond), and no other chicken finger, especially fast food chains in the area, match Lee's in terms of consistency and flavor. The fingers are always on the larger size (you never get skimped with a small piece) and are made with fresh white meat, and are cooked perfectly! The sides are great - definitely recommend the potato wedges (sad that they removed baked beans off the menu) and the biscuits are delicious too. Prices here are more expensive than a chain restaurant, but it is definitely worth it. I leave here full and happy with my choice every time! Also, it is important to know that a drink will count as 1 of the 2 sides that come with a meal. Staff is efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend to others in the area looking for chicken fingers, and will definitely return. This particular Lee's I love. The staff is nice and accommodating. The fried chicken is hot and fresh. The spicy is just right for me. The breading or crust whatever you want to call it is crispy and we'll seasoned. It's the closet chicken I've found to be very similar to home cooked fried chicken. The pot pie is tasty as well. The sides are much better than any other chicken place. In particular the potato salad and baked beans. I enjoy it very much. Just hope they keep up the good work!!
