I've been to Modele twice now. both times the girls were fabulous! honest, friendly and great at what they do. I highly recommend this salon

My husband and I just had our hair cut at Modele Salon by John, and we couldn't be happier with the work he did. We moved to the area a couple of months ago, and were nervous about finding the right salon. I am amazed that we found the prefect man for the job on the first try. John said he was born to cut hair, and we definitely believe it! We will definitely be scheduled our next appointments with him. I love my hair! I never cut it, and am obsessed with growing it out. I have never had much luck finding someone who understands or respects the fact that I want as little trimmed off as possible, but John completely got it, and my hair feels and looks amazing. He took off my dead ends, and styled it with just the perfect amount of taper and layering. Some how, It doesn't even look or feel shorter, it's a complete win! My husbands hair is very difficult to cut. He keeps it to just above his shoulders. It is very think and wavy, almost curly, and becomes completely unruly if not cut the way. John did such a great job shaping and layering it for him. He looks so good. The salon it self is super cozy, with a very relaxed atmosphere. We are so happy to have found this gem. read more

I have been coming to Modele Salon since we moved to Oregon 6 years ago. I am a former cosmetologist so finding a hairstylist is not easy. They were recommended by a friend and I found out they used the same products on my hair, color especially, that I had been using. My hair is white and difficult to hold color. Everyone at the salon has been so wonderful at everything they do! The owner has been my stylist and hair guru! The most amazing part is everyone working there are all trained over the top in every aspect of styling! I am sure just about every stylist there has had their hands in my hair at one time or another!!! I love and trust them all with my tresses and recommend to all!!! read more

Today I saw Cindra for highlights. First time going to this salon and loved the atmosphere! It was early morning and nice out today so they had the side garage doors open. She was very nice and did a WONDERFUL job on my hair! I have psoriasis on my scalp and she recommended a shampoo they did not happen to carry as an inexpensive option but also said they may have something id like as well. She wasn't trying to get me to buy something there but gave me some options to try and I did happen to love the shampoo she used that they do sell there, so I will be back to buy it! Having had my hair professionally done since I was a young teenager, I have had many hair stylists in my lifetime as I am now 56. I decided to try Modele Salon as it was nearer to my home than former hair salon and loved the appearance from passing by the salon many times. I had my hair cut and colored by Cindra Davis at Modele Salon and I can say with no hesitation it is the best cut and color I have ever had. Every day I think how great my hair is looking. I've been going to Modèle for years and now my teenage son goes there too. We've seen Brittany, Michelle K, Cindra, Michelle S, and Johnny. We both have thick, course and (I have) dry hair. With thick hair, if the cut is bad, the "shelves" are obvious. We haven't had that problem at Modèle. The cuts are quick, thorough, clean and the conversations are good too! I always love my color and highlights. Sometimes I feel bad paying to make my hair look so natural but what a sorry sight if I didn't have it colored! It's so worth it! read more

I have been looking for a good salon to get my hair done for almost a year now! My family and I just purchased a home In Oregon city and I was commuting almost an hour just for a cut then I found this amazing gem! The atmosphere is fantastic and very welcoming. On a warm day the open the big bay doors and it's almost magical for a mama to just sit and get a great cut. Great services. Fantastic space. Terrible parking. Metered spaces out front force you to move 2 blocks away every 2 hours so it's totally impractical for longer salon services during the week. I ended up with a ticket :( and probably won't be going back. Too bad... read more

I have been going to Modele since they opened. I see Michelle and she is the greatest! When I am there I feel totally pampered. I usually make my appointment for the morning and right when I sit down in the chair they ask me if I want coffee. They know exactly how I like it. When Michelle washes my hair she give me the most amazing head and neck massage that is my favorite part. The cut always looks great and the color does too! I get complements all the time from people and they ask me who does my hair and I gladly tell them! I even get complements on my hair when I am needing to go back in that is how great it looks! I just got home from seeing Britney at Modele Salon for the first time- my cut is fantastic and I'm so happy! She spent a ton of time on me (well, I *do* have a lot of hair) and was very personable. I never know what I want, and she offered great suggestions after hearing my "hair history" as well as giving me ideas on how to care for and style it (without pushing a bunch of product.) Salon price for SUPERCUT experience. I wanted medium straight length haircut with a side wept bangs. Nothing too crazy and pretty simple. The stylist, Michelle S, came out to greet me on time and was pretty quick (washing and drying) so it seemed like things were going well. She was a bit rough though when she was brushing my thin fine hair through all the dangles as she was blow drying, which was uncomfortable. I had mentioned to her during the hair wash that I had much hair loss in the past year so she wouldn't pull on my hair but after that blow drying/brushing experience I don't think she was listening. After cutting off the hair in the back she proceeded to style the front and add bangs. She took a chunk and cut it too short, so it was literally just a chunk on the side of my forehead. To fix it she razor cut more bangs into the length of hair but did not blend it well. I was not happy but kindling asked her to fix the side swept bang she was I wanted and I pulled out the obvious strays out and letting her cut and fix it. After she finished the overall length and bangs were much shorter than I had asked for. The whole process made me loose confidence in the stylist ability to understand what I wanted and her doubt a her skill and experience. She didn't seem to know how to fix it and faulted my hair repeatedly. Afterwards I was at a dinner party and and people told my hair was crooked in the back and my hair was choppy!!! Adding that to the terrible bangs the haircut was even worse than I had thought. People actually asked if I had cut my own hair! Super upsetting. That night my sister had to help retrim the bangs before I was flying out for a trip for a family reunion. PROS: Easy to book online. Nice ambience. CONS: NOT a compliment when you pay to get your haircut and then people ask "Did you do it yourself?" Meaning did you mess this up yourself? I'm not picky but no one should ever have to coach a professional stylist along and even more so when they mess-up. Bad stylist and haircut. I told people I'm never coming back. read more

The place LOOKS amazing--I'll give them that. The salon looks like it belongs in Portland, which is trendy and fun for Oregon City. Their booking website is not well maintained and it was not working properly, causing me to have to call after making my appointment. I was a first-timer, who read all of the stylist's bios before choosing, who I thought was the right one. She seemed standoffish at first, maybe she was having a bad day? As a new client, seeing a stylist who doesn't say much, takes a personal phone call and then gets her own haircut, mid appointment--I'm not totally impressed. They had a good selection of products and their services were reasonably priced, but I'm not rushing back, due to the service I received. As for my hair...she did a good job. The color turned out GOOD, but the cut was GREAT. Wish the service had been somewhere in between. read more

Shannon is AMAZING!!! I hadn't had my hair cut for nearly 2 years and I was worried it would take a few hours to bring it back to life...it was really long, fine, and frizzy. To my surprise, Shannon transformed me in less than an hour!!! I love my haircut, it came out amazing, and I feel like my inside personality now matches my outside appearance.(Also, her pricing is beyond reasonable!!!) The way I got here was surprising...I live in West Linn, which is very suburban, so for my style, I began researching Portland area salons with the intent of not looking like a soccer mom. Needless to say, I was shocked and grateful when I realized this gem was right across the bridge from me. After a hair coloring experience went all sorts of wrong elsewhere I found Modele and was able to make an appointment with Chelsea very quickly. I went in thinking I would have to settle for something average for a while since my hair was a mess. Chelsea was amazing! Not only did she fix all the bad, she made my hair look soooo good! I can't stop looking at it. She was kind, patient, understanding, and non-judgmental. She works quietly but meticulously. Oh and the salon itself is fantastic. I went to Modele Salon for all of 2010, 2011 & 2012 - I stopped going only because I moved to Forest Grove and it's too long of a schlep now for me. Michelle is an amazing stylist, fantastic at haircuts and at highlighting and coloring. Actually, she was ALSO amazing at washing my hair and giving me a scalp massage to die for. She listened to me regarding what I wanted, never tried to talk me into anything that I didn't want, remembered me from appointment to appointment (which were months apart), never took phone calls during our appointments (something that really gets my hackles up), and most importantly, always made me look wonderful. No question - this place is expensive. But I always thought it was worth it. Added bonus - she's a great conversationalist. I understand that it's not a stylist's job to be entertaining, but I always looked forward to spending time with her during my haircut. I really miss this place! I've noticed someone mentioned parking being a problem - I always parked in the back, off street, in the private, free lot - there are spaces reserved by the salon. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to sing the praises of Cindra, who I saw for a cut. I first met her a year or so again when she was an apprentice, but this was my first appointment with her as my stylist. I had been growing out my hair for my wedding, so I was stoked to finally ditch some serious length. Of course, that can also be scary, but Cindra nailed the cut -- a fun, shoulder-length bob with just the right amount of layering -- and made me feel totally at ease in the process. I've received tons of compliments on my new style, and I'm already thinking about other ways for Cindra to update my look. I called and left a voicemail, stating I was a new client, and wanted to schedule an appt. I never! received a call back....

Got a $60 hair certificate to Modele from my fiancee. I decided to spend it on my wedding hair. So when they booked me, they told me they like to do a "run-through" a week or so before-hand to make sure we'll be on the same page come wedding day. Last night was my run-through. After she was finished, she walked to the desk and told me it was $50 for the f'ing run-through!! I was so flaberghasted at the time, I didn't react much, but decided this morning to do my own hair for the wedding (no matter how nice, it was not worth $50!!!!!) and cancelled my appointment for the day of. It also irritates me that with pretty hair, all I did was go home, eat dinner and go to bed. I still think a $50 charge should be mentioned when making the appointment, not afterwards! The way she said it, it sounded like the $60 gift certifiacte would cover the run-through and day of wedding. I'm so bummed, I feel like crying. I'm never going back there: ever. read more
