We came here for a kid's birthday party and unfortunately it was not a great experience. It was our first time visiting and the event felt pretty disorganized from the start. Kids and adults were all in the same room shooting at each other, which I wasn't expecting for a children's party. My son ended up getting shot multiple times by adults and came home with marks all over his body. I didn't realize grown adults would be allowed to shoot at kids during the game, and that made the experience uncomfortable for us. The staff were actually kind and friendly, so I appreciate that. However, the overall organization and structure of the event really needs improvement, especially if the parties are meant for kids. Tip for parents: If you're planning a birthday party here, you may want to ask ahead of time whether adults and kids will be playing together in the same session. Because of our experience, I wouldn't recommend this place for kids' birthday parties and we likely won't be returning. read more

Very disappointing experience. I drove from Murrieta to visit this location, arriving around 5:30 PM, well before their posted closing time of 7:00 PM. Instead, the store was already closed. I called the number listed, and the young man who answered was extremely unprofessional and dismissive. When I expressed my frustration about driving out only for them to close early, he basically told me they can "close whenever they want" and that they're "not the courthouse." I was shocked by the attitude and lack of customer service. Rather than apologizing or offering any explanation, he became standoffish and confrontational. This experience left a really bad impression, and I won't be returning. If you post business hours, you should honor them -- especially when customers travel a distance to support your store. read more

I made a small purchase here in June 2024, a pump action spring shotgun for about $20. The order confirmation said it would ship within 3-5 business days. It never arrived. When I checked back, I found my account no longer existed, and my follow-up email went unanswered. Around the same time, I was invited by a manager to come in and play a couple of games as part of seeing if a handyman position might be a good fit. When I showed up, the owner instead asked me to pay to play before any interview could happen. That didn't feel right to me, and I chose not to move forward. Overall, my experience left me disappointed. My order was never fulfilled, my account disappeared, and the hiring interaction felt unprofessional. My friends and I visited the Modern Airsoft indoor field fully expecting to use the guns we purchased directly from their shop. Logical, right? Apparently not. Upon arrival, we were told that all guns must shoot at or below 350 FPS. Ours were slightly over--but here's the problem: we had already played at this exact location before with the same guns without any issue. This time, they had us fill out the waiver, take our payment ($150 for vests and admission), and only after that did they test the guns and inform us they couldn't be used unless we paid another $35 per gun for modifications. This was within five minutes of walking in. I asked for a refund since we couldn't use the gear we bought from them, but they refused, saying they "don't do refunds" and only offer store credit--something we didn't want. After some back-and-forth, they reluctantly offered rentals instead. The rentals were poor quality, and the entire interaction with staff felt unprofessional and dismissive. The core issue here is not the FPS rule--it's the lack of transparency and the fact they take your money before telling you that your equipment can't be used. This is a frustrating and avoidable business practice. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Modern Airsoft. read more

Parts were removed from the Lancer Tactical box so these bozos could sell them separately. First purchase broke after one day. Rapid charger and battery died after a month. Paid $289 for the rifle before tax and found the same set up parts in the box for $179 online. No refunds and the battery was older than the exchange policy which just over a month old. I've been going to Modern Airsoft for a while, but at this point, I can honestly say that Micah is the biggest reason I don't want to show up or spend another dollar there. He talks to customers like he couldn't care less, and it shows. On top of that, he's sold me -- and others -- items that break the same day you buy them. I've personally seen someone buy something that didn't even work out of the box. When they tried to return it the same day, they weren't offered a refund -- just store credit, and not even close to the full amount. Micah gave them $50 for a $180 item and then turned around and sold it for $150. It gets worse. I watched him cheat a 15-year-old trading in a $260 gun toward a $300 SSG-1. Micah only gave the kid $80 for it, then resold that same gun for around $200. That's completely unethical. Another shady move: the Gen 4 Lancer Predator comes with two springs (one for indoor and one for outdoor play). They've been removing the indoor spring from the box and selling it separately, which is just wrong. When Micah refs, there's clear favoritism on the field. Certain players get away with rule-breaking or unsafe behavior, while others are called out for much less. It makes the games feel unfair and discourages regulars from wanting to play. Inside the store, he also takes sales away from his coworkers -- even jumping into ongoing transactions -- just to claim commission for himself. From what I've seen and heard, employees are promised commission from their hire date, yet Micah goes out of his way to block others from making their fair share. It's unprofessional and toxic. The only reason I still go there is Isaiah (aka Zay). He's genuinely helpful, gives honest advice, and actually makes the place enjoyable. If he ever leaves, I know I'm not the only one who'll stop showing up. To top it off, I once spoke with TJ about buying something, and Micah jumped in and completely interrupted the sale -- disrespectful and unnecessary. It made the whole experience uncomfortable. Overall: Terrible management, shady sales practices, favoritism during games, and poor customer service -- except for Zay, who's the only bright spot. If you plan to buy anything, be careful and double-check everything before walking out the door. read more

The environment is good . It's a bit expensive because there is hidden a fees you have to pay like the armband . There is a toco bell and a boba shop next to the place so you could definitely stay a couple hours and have lunch . The rentals are in good condition and shoot pretty good for rentals . Recommend this place if you want some action in SD . I'll come back for sure. read more

Scam! They take your money first then if any issues come up you won't receive your money back, lack of transparency and honesty from the owner and his sons. Staff over prices items most of the staff try to sell over the priced items and won't change prices unless shown cheaper prices in online stores or from other shops, the only thing redeemable about the place is it's convenient location and indoor field. From my point of view this place deserves .5 stars, i went in to buy a air soft gun battery and charger. Through the entire process i felt rushed, kept getting told i need to buy an optic or a flash light or a tracer or a suppressor. Even after having to buy the gun battery and charger sepratley. When i could have went online and bought the same gun with everything in it. Everyone there kept bouncing back and fourth between helping me or talking to their buddies. After 40 mins go by im able to get my rifle and go to the field. Only to be told i need a wrist band, then got told i paid for the morning session that was ending in 45 mins (no one asked which one i wanted). I will give them props for allowing us to play in the afternoon my mood was starting to get better. Fast forward To getting home i put my new toy away, took out my battery and made sure it was at atleast 60%. The very next day the battery wouldnt work in my airsoft gun and nither in my buddies. My battery is dead and will no longer work. They do not offer any sort of customer service on this matter as when i called was put on hold for 1 whole hour and then when someone did pick up i got hung up on before i could even say a word please do better for those who dont want to be scammed or pressued into buying usless items. read more

The store is good but this blond girl employee I think she was new and was very unprofessional!! She was hitting on my husband right in front of me. My husband was very uncomfortable of what she was doing and She knows The guy employee was helping us already and we were in the line then she got so close to my husband just inches away like she was about to kiss him then she grab the item from my husband hand without asking and she didn't even ring us. She just took the item from his hand and standing there and we still have to wait for the other employee to ring us. Very unprofessional!!! I don't know why is that ok. If that was a guy that is called harassment. I am not going back there at all. Be professional and respectful not just for the customer but for human beings. I enjoyed the field layout It's smaller than I'd like, so it'd be tougher to play against more experienced players, but it's a great introduction to no MED (minimum engagement distance) CQB/CQC (close quarters battle/combat) style play It does get quite warm in the staging area/field The refs were fair and did live commentary as well, which enhanced the gameplay for me I didn't check out the shop, and some of the other reviews say the sales staff are pushy I'd personally say that it's a mistake to come to a field trying to buy a replica and play instantly It is probably better to do your research and buy beforehand to avoid store markups, any confusion, and sales tactics read more

BUYERS BEWARE: This company's return policy does not allow returns of payment. They are selling complicated products to first-time buyers who are going on trust. And then, when things go wrong, they give you nothing but a shoulder to cry on to make it right. We bought a gun, gas and bbs entirely on their recommendations. The gun jammed badly, around every other clip. So, we brought it into the store. The clerk was able to shoot it around 15 times (it sounded like it did jam twice even during that test but he was in a room where I could hear but couldn't see what happened) and concluded that it was working fine. His theory was that the brand of gas we were sold was unusual and "probably only sold because they were low on the good gas they normally sell." He added that the good gas "is the only gas he recommends and that most of their guns wouldn't work right on the other gas I was sold." I wanted to just return the gun and do my own research. For instance, maybe there is a gun that DOES work just fine with the inferior gas they sold. But, they stood firm on the concept that I should have checked to make sure that they have a normal return policy like the vast majority of respected businesses in the country. It was my mistake that they have a terrible, unusual return policy! Of course. After being stonewalled on that point I then asked that they simply comp me for the $10 bottle of gas THAT THEY JUST SAID WOULD NOT WORK WITH THEIR GUNS. The reason, he said, was because I didn't bring the bottle in with me so that it could be proved that it was bad gas EVEN THOUGH HE JUST SAID THAT HE KNEW ABOUT THAT GAS AND THAT IT WOULD NOT WORK WITH THEIR GUNS. Their decisions and policy here will likely cost them hundreds of dollars in business from me alone as my son is just entering "air-soft age". We would have bought more guns, gear, bbs, gas, etc. from them. Now, I will never give another dime to them. I will instead buy all of my air-soft products on-line or another shop. Came here on a Saturday morning with my son who was really excited to check this place out. When we go to say it was blowing away by all the selection of the guns. The staff was busy with another customer but after he was done he was right away very attend for a knowledgeable. He gave advice based on my son's skill level and where we were shooting and provided very good feedback. I'll be coming back here when we upgrade I need more ammo great place! read more

There is A LOT to unpack here. First of all, let me say I have both been a cutomer and an employee here. Some of the things I've learned in my experience with them are as follows. 1. They buy most of their murchandise from evike and resell it for a (barely) lower pricepoint. I can't tell you how many times while I was working there I would hear the owner going for an "evike run". Not sure what else that could mean. 2. Their ebay and amazon listings are NOT live, and use watermarked stock images that I was ordered to photoshop (poorly). Their tiny warehouse is barely large enough to hold a fraction of what is on their online stores. It always takes forever for online orders to make it to customers because we would get the order, then the owner would likely have to run up to evike, purchase it himself, and then send it out. Then they have the audacity to blame it on UPS or some excuse and then send a "free gift", which is usually just a little bag of 1000 UK arms bb's. Some consolation. 3. The owner blatantly lies about the guns, specifically their fps out of the box. A kid I played with one day at my home field went to chrono his Lancer M4 he just bought from Modern. The owner, Yerol, had told him it shot at a field legal velocity of 350fps out of the box; very standard for a basic M4. NOPE! I went to the chrono with this kid, and it was shooting WAY too hot at 410fps. That's not field legal for an M4 on our CQB field. Lies, lies, and more lies. 4. As far as customer service goes, they will literally hire anyone. I'm serious. One time they hired this kid who had only been "teching" for a short time (mostly jamming and having to unjam his own guns from what he told me). It still takes at least three weeks to get anything fixed in that place, from what I hear from friends who still shop there. How do I know all this? I used to be the one creating those live listings for ebay and I also did packaging for online orders and I was in their warehouse every day, so I know what they actually had and what they had to run to go get from another store. I just don't want others in Oceanside who are trying to break into this amazing sport to habe their first experience in a place so unprofessional. read more

Went here 3 times. 1st time: I went into the store to look around for a gun because I recently got back into the sport after I quit for a few years. The 3 employees there gave me conflicting information about most of the guns that I took interest in. This really threw me off, on top of the fact that every employee there was trying to pressure me into making a purchase. I left after feeling uncomfortable. 2nd time: I came back to give them another shot and went in looking to buy a mesh mask and potentially a new airsoft gun. Once again with the guns, I was given conflicting information by 2 employees which made me uncomfortable with buying a gun, so I skipped out. I asked about the difference in masks and the employee said they were all the same as he grabbed one off the wall for me. I get home and open it only to find out that the mask wasn't the right kind. It was supposed to clip onto a helmet. I was not happy about driving back to the store to get the right one as I live 30 minutes away. 3rd time and my biggest mistake: I went in and bought a gun. They did not have it at the store so I had to order it from the Oceanside store. I pick up the gun a week later but I don't like the way it feels so I went in to return it for store credit to get another gun. They denied my return. The gun is brand new in box with all the corresponding case candy and a price tag of almost $400. The gun was never fired, nor was a battery ever plugged into it. I left the store quite disappointed and upset. I had a very poor experience every time I walked into the store, from the disorganization between the two store locations to the shady and pushy employees trying to pressure me into buying stuff. The store feels like a scam with the levels of conflicting information and disorganization that it reaches. The store took my money and did nothing to help me afterward. Don't come to this store. Learn from my mistakes and order from a reputable airsoft distributor. Once these guys at Modern Airsoft make a sale, they will do nothing to help you with any issues or questions you have afterward. I spent almost $400 and I would like to get store credit to order a different gun, but until that happens, I will continue to express my disappointment in Modern Airsoft for their very poor customer service and shady sales through several social media platforms and will advise any airsoft player and newcomer to not shop there. read more

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I decided to purchase an ICS CXP-Mars Full Metal Komodo Airsoft AEG for the listed price of $409.95. He ordered the gun, and we waited for shipping confirmation. This morning, he got an email from Modern Airsoft informing him that the listed price wasn't accurate, and he needed to pay $449.95 for the gun that they had already billed his credit card for. Apparently Modern Airsoft doesn't understand that, once the item is purchased, there is a contract in place, and it is then illegal to change the price. Consumers are entitled to 'benefit of the bargain' and are protected against such bait and switch schemes. If anyone else has encountered this problem with any of their products, contact your local Attorney General's office and send Modern Airsoft a mailed letter informing them that you have done so! This review is for the actual Airsoft field. On 3/11/18 we met some friends to play airsoft, this was our second time here. The first time was great, the gentleman running the games was really good and kept everything going. On this day though it was a different guy running the games. He did not check any of the guns or referee any of the games. There were guns there that were way too powerful for the size of the course and several of the people in our group were badly injured by high-powered Beebee's. He was letting all of his friends in to play and he even played several games himself there was never any referees. In 10 years of playing airsoft this was definitely the worst experience we've ever had. For that reason and I feel it is very unsafe and will not be returning. My advice is if you choose this facility please make sure that the guns being used are regulation as people really got hurt that day. read more

DO NOT WORK FOR OR DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I worked at Modern Airosfts Oceanside store, for about a year when I was 17-18 (November 2016-October2017) it was fine at first and then it went down hill, I was expected to do things I was not hired to do, with no proper training on how to do those things I went from Sales and Shipping and receiving To E-commerce. The sub standard and frankly sub part "Training" (if you can call it that) I received, was no more than the owner telling me how he wanted the listings to look and where to post them" I was berated and belittled several times and spoke to in a disrespectful manner. At the time I was young (probably just some dumb kid in his eyes) however no one deserve to or should be spoken to by their employer in that way! In one such occasion, 1 was in the back working on packaging outgoing orders. I looked out after finishing a box to see a packed store and I customer that had not been helped, I went over and assisted the gentleman that was looking for a CO2 revolver to rid his property of gophers and other small varmits. After completing the transaction with the man, I was pulled into the owners office. He said and I quote "Do not ever leave your work station unless I tell you to" however the mantra that was drilled into myself and the other employees from day one was "if you see a customer walking around the shop alone, always walk up with a smile and ask if they needed any assistance because the customer is what matters" This was a total and complete contradiction to good customer service. Also, I was one of two employees stationed on the sales floor making listings and receiving customers. One day a group came in and was looking around, again I stood up from my desk, and went over and greeted the customers and helped them find what they were looking for and during the final portion of the transaction my co worker tapped me on the should and whispered in my ear, "hey I'll finish this the boss wants to see you" I went into his office only to find him furious, he then proceeded to yell at me for a good solid 10 minutes. He said and I quote "Do not ever get up from your desk in the middle of writing a listing!" I responded "but sir was I not hired to assist customers?" He responded again yelling "You were hired to do as I tell you! No questions asked!" He then said "Now do what I say and get back to work!" I left his office, and sat back at my desk. Feeling shocked, disrespected and frankly pissed off. I came to later find out that he also would monitor the camera in the store and watch us when he was not in the store. And we would get texts saying get back to work. And I found this highly unprofessional and showing a complete lack of trust in the staff. On a final note at the time we were paid $10 per hour (minimum wage at the time) there were never any taxes taken out, being 16 and 17 I never thought much of it but when it came time for me to file taxes for 2016, I was hit with the overwhelming realization that they had claimed me as a 1099 employee (independent contractor) which cannot be done for retail employees, I was hit with a $950 bill from the IRS for back income tax. I do not know how it is now, BUT this just goes to show the kind of person you are working for. I do not recommend this business as an employer and I do not recommend it as a customer. read more

This is a really cool shop in Oceanside I really appreciate the guy with the panda mask but the white guy who is always there I think his name is Chris will rip you off especially if no one else is in the store he will say the price and then when he goes to ring it up if no one's around he adds $10-$20 in tax to things that he just pockets the money, he didn't give me a receipt at the transaction and I went in the next day and bought the same thing off a different employee and it was $18 cheaper, he sizes you up and if he can make an extra buck he will, don't let him do this to you don't shop with him read more

From the minute we walked in the building we were treated with kindness and respect. Once my son found the airsoft he wanted, the gentleman helping us made sure to walk my son through all the need to knows before packaging it up for us. They even have a plethora of biodegradable bb's or pellets or whatever you call them. Unfortunately, we had an issue with the battery not working, but Modern Airsoft was quick to replace both the battery and the charger. I went after work to get one thing I knew exactly what I wanted I waited awhile one of the employees said he would help me after he was done helping another customer once he finished an old lady with her grandson asked for help so I nodded the guy off and it was all good. By this point I had waited for help for about 20 minutes until I went to the other desk to ask for help there were four employees there talking to each other I waited for them to finish their conversation then I asked one of them "hey can I get some help with an item" he barely gave me the time of day didn't look at me and said "someone over there will help you" I told him "yeah they're helping other customers right now I've just been waiting awhile and I know exactly what I want it won't take long" the employee once again not making eye contact didn't even look at me said "someone over there will help you" I said "alright man have a good day" and as I walked out he then tried to ask me what I needed I continued out of the store horrible customer service on his part. Right off the bat, if you want to gamble your money with this company, go ahead. There are plenty of positive reviews that say they had a great experience with Modern Airsoft but months after my initial purchase, I have no gun and a $200 hole in my pocket. A few months ago i bought a $200 airsoft gun that right out of the box came broken. I tried different batteries and did everything i could from the outside, so i took it apart. I fiddled with a few things and i admittedly broke the decorative charging handle and i tightened something a little too tight, so i sent a few emails and shipped the gun back to be fixed. A few days after they received it, i got a call saying the gun was completely fixed and they'd even send me a video to prove it as long as i paid for shipping. No problem. I got the gun back with no video and with literally the exact same issues. I don't even know if they touched it other than to see that I dismantled it. I wrote another email saying i would dispute the charges if the gun wasn't fixed and they told me to send it back. And here I am, months later with no money, and no gun. Here is the condensed version: -Placed order for Crye G3 pants, received them, too small. -Replied to the Order confirmation email that I need to exchange for next size up. Received replies: "Sorry to hear they don't fit. You are welcome to send them back to swap for the other size; however, the RMA number will be your order number - 12395 and you will ship it back to us at Modern Airsoft Corporate Office 3033-A Industry Street Oceanside, CA 92054 Attn: Customer Service/RMA#12395 We do not issue a prepaid label on items that are non-defective. You would be responsible for shipping them back and the cost to ship out the replacement unfortunately." and: "You are welcome to place an online order for the replacement and the shipping on it and when we get the other pair back I can refund it back to your original order. Sorry. Erika Altieri" - So I send the order back and a few days later place a new order #12960 for the exchange in the correct size and within an hour of placing the new order receive an email from Ericka stating they received my order and will process the credit minus a restocking fee. No mention through ANY of the communications made with her did she say anything about a restocking fee, I followed her instructions exactly as she said and clearly had stated I would just be responsible for the return shipping charge along with the shipping charge for the replacement, now shes suprising me with a restock fee? -I call her and she defaults to "Our website states we charge a restocking fee" and SINCE I PLACED A NEW ORDER, IT MAKES MY FIRST ORDER TECHNICALLY A "RETURN" INSTEAD OF AN EXCHANGE, WHICH IS SUBJECT TO A RESTOCKING FEE, even though I placed the new order under the idea that I was doing so as an exchange. Like what? Shady Shady Shady. I explained to her that had I known anything about a restocking fee, I would have taken my business elsewhere and order the correct size through another vendor who doesnt have shady business practices by recommending a certain route of action then penalizing me for it on a technicality. Bought a pistol a few months ago from them, it wouldn't cycle so I took it in for them to fix it. Cost me $15 and 3 weeks for them to put some silicone oil on it and then have it still not work. Bought a bolt action rifle and it worked for less than a day. Something in the trigger box was broken and their warranty doesn't cover that. So I either am stuck with a broken gun or stuck with paying $160 to "upgrade" it. I don't want an upgrade right now I want my gun to work. Wow, this was the perfect store! We visited this Oceanside store while vacationing in California because our 14 year old son wanted Air Soft for his birthday. And shopping options back in Illinois are almost non-existent. So we stopped in here because our resort was one town away. OMG! It was perfect! This may not be the biggest Air Soft store (we know because we visited THAT monstrously large place as we headed back to LAX) but it is the PERFECT Air Soft store. Katie the manager and her staff were SO great at helping my son the newbie buy what we needed and only what we needed! The selection was extensive without being overwhelming (like the other store we visited). We left knowing he had the perfect Air Soft gun and equipment. And Katie was so great at helping us get it all shipped home very reasonably. One last thing about the competitor store we visited after Modern Air Soft. The superstore one (it rhymes with Bee Vike). Do NOT go there if you are just getting started in Air Soft! Go to Modern Air Soft in Oceanside! The megastore place is overwhelming, overpriced and unhelpful! read more

Honestly I had an OK experience here Some of the guys are helpful and are pretty knowledgeable but then after reading some reviews I feel that some of the people who wrote these reviews are not wrong as for example when I came in to return a gun the gun was 270 something dollars and I returned it for an even cheaper gun and I understand that you guys may have a restocking fee but I did not see anything stating that there was a restocking fee on my receipt so it seems like I was just lied to an up charged for the restocking fee even though I was told there was no restocking fee the only one bad thing I will say here is that when you guys say they are new guns I doubt they are because some of them are already scuffed up or seem used so when you guys say that you sell them as an open box I'm pretty sure that you guys have spare parts that you can stuff back in the box to make it seem like it's a brand new item when in reality all it is is a returned item with either everything included or just replaced from another return that You couldn't sell as a brand new complete set my gun works fine for now hopefully will be that way for a while to come But I will say this there are some decent people in that store so I guess it's just a matter of who you get walking in there read more
