The gun selection was really cool they have a ton of different options. i wouldn't recommend coming here if you are new to airsoft, the staff is very knowledgeable but are very pushy, it was a "close the deal" type vibe. the employee that was showing me around was trying to train 2 new hires, so i feel like he was trying harder to get me to buy to show them how to close out a deal or something. they say "you should buy" a lot. after trying to push some guns on me for about 25 minutes i was asked what i was looking for, i feel like that should have been what they started with. i am new to the scene but not as new as they thought. i would have preferred a more relaxed environment. if your new and want to go here i think it would be smart to ask a more knowledgeable friend to go with you, that might make the experience more welcoming. overall was a cool store, staff was bad. it would be 5 stars with different staff read more

Been holding my tongue on the litany of issues at this place, but after my visit yesterday, I'm done. Starting with my visit yesterday, I drove from Los Angeles down to their "indoor arena", planning to get some training and game play in as the field is, according to their website, open 12pm to 9pm, with a $10 discount for their "tactical Tuesday" special. Normally, the field is $25 dollars, the highest price of any indoor field in southern California. This was the only price worth paying at this rather small field that offers little in the way of structures and cover inside, so I figured we'd take advantage of it. Upon arriving at the field at 2:10pm, the doors were locked. I went to the store where I was told my team mate and I could not enter the field because it was closed until at least 4 people show up. They had already turned away 2 other players that arrived about an hour before us. That would have been 4, but the owner isn't cracking the door on his discount day for just 2 people. I guess that's "having our backs" as a community. We had another team mate coming later in the day, with a friend of his that was interested in airsoft. We were told at that point if we wanted on the field they would do it, but only if we paid double the entry price. That's right, we came on a discount day for a $15 a person entry and were hustled by the owner himself into paying $30 instead. Screw us for driving an hour and a half to give them money I guess. After paying double entry pricing for the crime of driving 90 minutes to give our money to this unworthy store, we had to wait another 30 minutes for an employee to be freed up enough to go open the field. I'm glad they "have our back" enough to care about their already poor reputation. On entering the field, we found multiple safety concerns. This is nothing new, modern airsoft is the section 8 housing of airsoft fields and the owner is the slum lord. Jagged metal and screws are sticking out of multiple wood panels on the field. I ripped my pants last night on one of them. Luckily, it didnt break skin. Not sure if my tetanus shots are up to date. Screws can be seen littered all over the field. The field lighting has no covering. People shoot halogen bulbs out and broken glass falls on to players below. I've seen it happen multiple times in person. The glass is then swept under tires or behind wood instead of being removed. There are unused props and garbage in the corners. Saw a banana peel and a few soda cans. Pieces of wood lay unsecured against walls, bits of electrical components and other construction material can be found of the tops of old glue barrels, broken computer screens lay on the ground with glass falling out. The place is full of wood and saw dust yet there is no fire suppression system. No way to put a fire out, whatsoever. The last time I asked an employee if they had a fire extinguisher he replied "no, and if we do I dont know where it is"....there are tarps that are not fire proof wrapped around electrical wiring. It's amazing this place hasn't been sued yet and I have no idea how or why the fire marshal in town hasn't done anything about the blatant safety and fire code violations. Someone is going to get hurt here. In addition to all these safety concerns, there are no employees managing the field whatsoever. This is not a comment on the employees, I'm sure they are fine people, this is a comment on the owner and his refusal to provide enough staff to manage the place. One employee sits at the door to cashier and watch the rental equipment. That's it. The field has no ref. No one checks to make sure mags are out in the staging area or that the guns have been cleared. No one checks the players to make sure they're acting in a safe manner. No one is in there running games, either. The players are left to their own devices. It's as if 4 airsofters just found an abandoned warehouse and started playing. That's certainly the condition the place is in. I've visited modern airsoft and its indoor field many times since its opening. These have been persistent, unresolved issues. The over priced entry, lack of cover on the field, lack of players to play airsoft, lack of employees to run games, hazardous conditions on the field. Sharp objects protruding from walls. The owner knows about all the problems and does nothing. That's really "having your back". After being swindled out of the only day they offer a discount, and being treated like something they stepped in at the park, I can no longer keep these issues to myself. My honest review of Modern Airsoft: I have been Airsofting for about 13 years and I really do like modern airsoft. I have been trying out modern airsoft for the past 5 weeks. They have really good approachable employees. At other airsoft stores, the employees come off as a bunch of know it all geeks but the employees at modern airsoft come off as friendly and humble. Their reefs at the field are great too. They are chill and are open to suggestions from other players for game modes. I was reluctant to try modern airsoft after hearing a lot of bad things about them but they knock it out of the park in almost every category. They are friendly and approachable. The store is well stocked and better stocked then Airsoft Extreme. For example, I would have to order my .4 or .36 g bbs off of evike cause Airsoft extreme would always be our but modern airsoft always has what I need. I took off a star cause they don't do military discounts and I have not tried their techs but I will stay to my own personal techs for technician support. At the field I'm Camp Pendleton, their field store is well stocked as well. It is a much better improvement from what the airsoft store used to be before modern airsoft took over. I have never seen an employee loose their temper at a customer or player which is something I experienced with airsoft extreme. So they have great customer service and are approachable and friend -personal yet professional Both stores are well stocked -they have all the bbs, accessories, or whatever I need most of the time. The field is a great place and the refs are great! -they've improved the field and there isn't a million years in between games. However they could do better with the wait time between games. Modern airsoft is a great play in the store and the field and I like to see them grow. Definitely my go to with airsoft for gameplay or to restock myself. read more

I ordered a gun a month ago and can't get a response except for a pre typed message telling me to buy more. This happened to me and a friend who ordered from this website as well. Better customer service is definitely needed. Send the wrong products and then come up with excuses for it. I've had 4 orders all over $200 with a different company during this pandemic without the issues of this company. I contacted the other company about an issue and got a response and a resolution to my problem within 2 days. Modern airsoft I ordered a 40mike and a bottle of bbs well they were out of the bottle so they sent me bags instead...ok fine but then instead if the 40mike they sent me a master mike. I wanted to buy a simple AEG but then I was pressured into buying a LMG off of the used wall. The LMG was broken to begin with even though it was "tested" I came back and they gave me a free "fix." I'm not allowed to test fire at the location so I had to bring it home and that's when I found out again, it was still broken with the same problem. I came back for a third time where they told me to pay for the fix and tried to claim I had opened it up and broke it again myself. The tech came back 10 minutes after looking at it with a smug look on his face saying "told yeah." He then proceeded to fire a few shots and...it broke. Right there in his hands. I was lucky it broke right then and there or else they may have not fully refunded me. I came to this store when it first opened up and was never disappointed until this incident. I've been out of the Airsoft world for about four years now and have a pristine rarely fired KWA CQR Mod 2. I took it in to the Murrieta location as I needed some advice on batteries, chargers and minor service questions. The customer service I received from these two gentlemen was above and beyond what you would expect in any business! They were patient with me, they complemented me on the condition of my rifle almost with envy LOL but most importantly, their knowledge and explanations we're just amazing. The employees seem to know their stuff and are helpful. I feel a bit ripped off after coming here nonetheless. My main issue is that I bought a used 1911 for 90$. The owner decided to tell me all sales are final after I bought it. I took it to play the next day and it shoots like garbage. Would have been nice to be offered to test it. I'm new so I didn't know I could. I was told it's a 160$ gun which was not true. And also told that one c02 canister will shoot 200 rounds. Also not true. Bad, bad and very bad! These people are very dishonest! Failed miserably to fulfill my online purchase to their standards listed on their site and blamed the post office when it was totally their fault. They print a shipping label so that when you don't get your purchase for almost two weeks they can say the post office didn't do their job. But really the tracking indicated that it was not received by the post office for over a week. And when I got the package it was open and was obviously handled by someone prior to shipping, i.e. the magazine was already in the firearm. read more

Best airsoft store I've ever been to! All the workers there are super cool and laid back. The owner himself is very nice and respect and always listens to what you need or want. Prices are pretty good and they do price match which is nice. Bought my first AEG here a Lancer Tactical LT-15 and wasn't too expensive at all. Will save up for a more better AEG. This is an overall great store except for two things. First off, the customer service lies. I got a gun that I was told had a MOSFET multiple times, and guess what? No MOSFET. The next thing is that the tech is kinda shady. A friend if mine brought in a 1911 Tactical for a fix and it took them over a year to fix it. When he finally got the call, he gets his gun and it turns out to be A different type of 1911. He happens to be over at the used guns section, and sees his 1911 Tactical for sale. He had a large scratch on the slide that he recognized right away, and the piece he got fixed still has a large crack in it, and he says that he's afraid to fire it because he doesn't want it to break again. That being said, I can't wait for their outdoor field. The store itself is sorta shady though. read more

My son wanted a quality airsoft gun and told us some of his friends were ordering the mystery package from the online store. Supposedly you are guaranteed to get equal or greater value than what you purchase. He paid $176.82 and received a nice gun with a broken clip that was different from the one in the description and pictured in the instruction manual. Their customer service claims that the disclaimer is clear and that there are no returns or refunds. One of his two other friends who ordered also got defective guns- so two out of 3. Basically, they can send out their broken crap without recourse for the consumer. Stay away! read more

I went in this store Sunday afternoon to check out some supplies for airsofting. Before hand I spoke to G on the phone who was the store manager who was very informative and helpful. While I was in the store I was trying on hundreds of dollars worth of helmets and was harassed by Jimmy a store associate who was coming back from break and not even on the clock yet for not having my mask on for less than a minute. After, he began talking poorly of me to another employee behind the counter which I could over hear. I have visited here before and had similar experiences with this guy before all being just awful. He is extremely rude in nature and lacks the communication skills on every level to work in anything that has to deal with customer service. I am very disappointed after reading similar reviews with the same issues with Jimmy concerning horrible customer service and naturally consisting of a disgusting bitter, negative, and disrespectful personality all around. I will be sure to reply my experience and interaction with Jimmy to my fellow airsofters and airsoft community. He must be dealt with my management if any further business is to be conducted with here at Modern Airsoft in Oceanside. Sorry Jimmy, shape up or ship out. Improve your embarrassing attitude and get a job that involves no customer service as you extremely lack the skills of playing any part in these customer oriented positions. Owner/manager was being very rude to me and cutting me off while I was giving my friend some recommendations and sold him something he later regretted. Also turns out what he sold him had a defective part, we went to return it and the manager who rang us up REFUSED to give him cash back and only gave store credit with their extremely vague return policy which he claimed he mentioned to my buddy but we did not recall hearing about it during checkout. The manager was puffing up, cracking his knuckles and giving me a rude look throughout all this, my friend was forced into buying a gun that retails for usually $240 in other stores for $290 with store credit. Never again will my team and I shop here. Word around the community has been spread and other customers/players I've met has had similar experiences. According to other stores they are pricing items over MAP, which does not go well with certain distributors. read more

I contacted them via email about an issue with a product they have for sale on their website. The product description was completely different from the products specifications. My intentions were good, to inform them of this error as to not lose anymore buisness. I told them which product it was and why it was confusing, however I received a very condensending email back, even mocked me by using the same statements I said for example in my email, I described issue then said: "somebody has to say it" because I assumed they were unaware of the issue. And what I got back was that I: "lack tact and ettiquet, somebody has to say it". And that wasn't even all of it. I simply cannot believe their grotesque customer care, let alone someone who was just trying to help. I will be sure to inform my friends or anyone who intends to purchase from this business, that there are plenty of other businesses to go through, then deal with this group of spiteful and offensive people. read more

I was in need of a repair for one of my guns and experienced the absolute worst service I've had in any business. I dropped off my airsoft gun about mid May to have my gun repaired. 3.5 months later no call or anything (it was me who called the shop at least 2 times a week to check in and every single call was always a different story as to the status of my repair) so I finally decided to show up every after so many calls and "new updates" and countless "apologies," whether it was done or not. Upon arriving to the shop, I request my gun which was stripped of all my attachments that I had on the gun before the repair. Like they really tried to give me a plain gun with hardly any screws or mounts for my attachments which were already owned by me and already installed years before this "repair." The worst part was the condition I received my gun. It appeared to have been used quite extensively to the point the shop looks like they put more wear and tear on my gun than I ever have (I'd go as far as to say they used my gun on the field because they even painted the flip up sight which I never use). The outer shell is scratched to hell and overall the appearance of the gun is in a worse state than when I dropped it off. Overall do not conduct business with this mediocre place because they will just up sell you, neglect and forget you, or just beat your gun to hell whilst "repairing" it. These are only a few of the problems I experienced but the list definitely goes on. read more

Seriously would've given no star if possible! I ordered stuff from them twice, and each time was more than $150 easily. The first time was on the store, I bought a new GBBR and couple of mags and other stuff, they told me my package should arrive by Saturday. Great, cuz I depend on the stuff that I ordered to play airsoft on Sunday. Guess what? Didn't arrive. Nvm, when it arrived on Wednesday the following week, it shows that the package was shipped on Monday. Fine! Giving them a second try. I ordered more things from them last Wednesday 12 am for Black Friday mystery box and some extra stuff for my GBBR. Was told from the website orders will be shipped out Friday the earliest, but nothing happened. And yesterday, they posted all orders will be shipped out on Monday, which was also yesterday. Up till today, they only bought the shipping label, and USPS website shows they are still awaiting item. Clearly, they are super inefficient with shipping services and promise bunch of crap. Please think twice if you need your stuff ASAP because this is not the service you would like. I really want to support local business, but not this kinda business. Also, I ordered things from e**ke earlier today. Guess what, they already shipped out my order. I would now consider to give my business to them rather than Modern Airsoft. My son sent them am email before Christmas about the free shipping discount code not working. Today is 1/18/20 and he is yet to receive an email back. In the mean time I placed the order he wanted and emailed them about the code. They fixed the issue by reimbursing me the shipping cost. I never received any shipping information. I was told 3 different dates that the order would ship. Also everytime I would call to talk to the online customer service because I wasn't getting emails back. It was almost like they didn't have key boards. The last time I called I spoke to Kate. She informed me that my order was delivered. I told her it was not and we went through the steps the I had to do with the post office to file a claim. After which I called back and spoke to Kate again because she was the only person that was helpful during this. I told her the post office does not know where the package was. She told me she would resend the order less one item that was out of stock but would send that to me when it was back in stock. The order that Kate sent out arrived 3 days later. Customer service is really bad. I did not receive the "free gift" as promised. The Airsoft gun I purchased was clearly used and damaged. When I contacted their customer service, I was told that the Airsoft gun was "used" at their facility but was still considered "new" because it never left their facility. No refunds, exchanges or partial credits. After submitting several pictures and complaining multiple times, I was told I could send it in for "inspection" but I would have to pay for the return shipping, potential restock fee (or return postage if they did not approve the return). read more

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Good service is what gets my business. About six weeks ago, I was in there with my then 14-year old son. The guy working spent a lot of time with him, even letting us stay after closing, so that my son could try out different guns and get all of his questions answered. Two weeks later, my son turned 15 and I can tell you that everything for his birthday came from Modern Airsoft, and we've already been back several times since. The owner and all of his staff have been so kind and informative, and will give you very honest opinions on whatever you ask about. They're all enthusiasts about the sport just like everyone that comes through their door, and it shows. I don't do airsoft myself but I still love visiting the store because of the excellent service and the fact that I always learn something new. Such a great addition to North County and I look forward to being a customer of theirs for years to come. read more
