Found this place by accident and so happy we did!! The beers were all very good, service was great and loved the options to sit inside or outside. They had live music outside (very good) and the atmosphere was fantastic for hanging out and enjoying the weather and beer! Will be back :)
We came to Asheville for a long weekend, and really wanted to try some of the local breweries. Unfortunately, it was drizzling rain and the brewing district was PACKED with a line outside of every brewery, and little distancing. Luckily, some google searching helped us find this spot! The heated, covered patio was just what we were looking for. While we were there a band set up and we got to enjoy some live music while we sipped on some beers. We had just eaten before we got there, but saw lots of people grabbing food from the food truck right outside. The beers were also good - we mostly sipped on the Pilsner but all the beers looked good. Proof there's good beer outside of the crowded brewing district!
Still my favorite beers in Asheville. They have also added six new taps in the tasting room and usually have a house made seltzer. As of 10/2021, Bear's BBQ has taken up residence as the on site restaurant. Delicious brisket!
Yep, we missed the turn that everyone is talking about in their reviews for Sweeten Creek Brewing. Be on the lookout for the sign because it is small and easy to miss. A brewery and a sandwich shop, what a perfect combination. This brewery only had four beers on tap of their own this visit so we ordered the Pale Ale and Porter. The beer was just okay, I was not crazy about any of them but they do change so maybe next time I'll find something that I will like. They also have guest taps but this was our first time visiting so, of course, we went with a SCB beer. Now the sandwiches are another story, they were great. Did not care for the Potstickers but the Big Bird with potato salad and Monte Cristo with macaroni salad were great selections. Beautifully presented and tasty. I did prefer the Monte Cristo over the Big Bird because I was not a huge fan of the pimento cheese. Overall a cool spot. And, it is dog friendly!

Can't even say this is a neighborhood joint because it seems as if it's out in the middle of an industrial area....off a highway ....where it can not be seen. We missed the turn for the street because the was no large-enough sign that could be seen from the main street. Only after we turned around, got back on the main street and drove back to the area were we able to see the really small sign that marked the street for the turn. This brewery is in a blue and white building that is directly behind a storage facility. You cannot see the building from the main road. Even the road to turn down is deceptively innocuous. Thank goodness another patron placed a picture of the building that it is behind. Otherwise, we might have given up on finding this spot. But I'm so glad we did not. The interior is small, but contains a bar and a few tables. There is additional seating outside. It looks like the building used to be an old garage or automotive repair spot because there is a huge front/side door that the brewery takes full advantage of. It's openness just beckons one to walk in and order food and beer. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich with macaroni salad as a side. This sandwich came on toasted wheat bread. The chicken itself is marinated in garlic with mayo and celery then topped with lettuce, tomato and onion. The flavor was really amazing because the chicken salad was not drowned in mayo like most chicken salads. The macaroni salad was another tasty dish. It, like the chicken salad, did not contain too much mayo, but did have peas, and red cabbage among some other veggies. They brew beer onsite and usually have a few available for taste and purchase. The menu chalkboard, uniquely-shaped like the state of North Carolina, shows the available beers. Everything is ordered at the bar. Then, you find a seat, either at the bar or at a table, and the food or beer is brought to you. There are outdoor picnic tables for the weather-permitting months. This dog-friendly place is really nice and welcoming. The service was friendly and relaxed, the atmosphere was very welcoming and the food was amazingly good. I recommend highly.
Let's talk about sandwiches for a minute... Maybe one of the most underrated foods out there. It's so easy slap some meat and cheese between a couple pieces of bread and call it a day. But, with just a little TLC and quality ingredients, a sandwich can be a great thing. Sweeten Creek proves this through their menu of simple yet absolutely delicious sandwich options! We went for the Big Bird -- turkey, bacon, avocado and pimento cheese on toasted wheat bread. It was amazing -- gooey thanks to the cheese, salty thanks to the bacon, mellow and smooth thanks to the avocado. Let's not stop there though. The side of potato salad was the best potato salad I've ever had. I'm such a sucker for watermelon in the summer time, too and their watermelon salad with grapes and jicama did not disappoint. What's that you say? This is a brewery? What about the beer? Well, I'm happy to report the beer was almost as good as the food! Ted had the IPA and enjoyed the "Asheville Style" brew. I sampled the Spring Ale and Brown and while both were good, went with a pint of the brown. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with the friendly bar tender. The tasting room and outdoor space are small and welcoming. It's a nice respite from the busy brewery scene in downtown Asheville! Also, both the inside and outside are dog friendly since the sandwich shop is technically a separate location. We left the hound at home because we didn't want to sit outside on a hot day (there was a heat wave and it was pushing 90-degrees when we visited). Next time we'll bring her along now that we know she can come inside the tasting room. Looking forward to our next visit!

Opened at 11:30 (our flight got in a little early so when we got there they were still closed, but their outdoor space is awesome to just hang out in and wait). Once they opened we got a flight and I'd say my fave was the Pilsner and Mexican lager. They have options for a flight and honestly, that's just the best. They also have options to buy a crowler! I've gotten these when I lived in CA but haven't run across them much in NY. I'm glad they had the smaller option (vs a growler size) so we took some to go! They also had the option of buying a glass (I always try to get a brewery branded glass) and it was only $5 (and they give you a new one...not one you drank from). Atmosphere was nice, there was a great breeze when we went. For people going here for the first tine, I would just note that this place is "off the street" and we had to turn around after we passed it. The people we were meeting would have passed it too but we gave them a heads up first! There is a sign, but if you are just looking for the building (like we were) you will drive right past it.

Attractive room with comfortable chairs but a tiny bar that holds like 3 drinkers. Outdoor seating available but dominated by smokers whose smoke drifted inside. Attached to a bbq restaurant if you need food. Tap list was strictly in house beers, with a dozen choices across the spectrum. I tried a light pilsner and porter, my wife had the hazy session IPA. The hazy IPA is excellent, with just the right level of "juice" flavor. I took home a six pack. The pilsner and porter were ok but didn't really stand out. Service was at the bar and we were served quickly. It was open mike night at the bbq restaurant - not my favorite form of entertainment. The crowd was mostly old folks and they all seemed to have dogs with them. One and done for us. read more

Lovely brewery with laid back vibes. A bunch of table games are available and a few sporadic TVs. The bartender is always friendly and the next door bbq is great. My favorite is the plant mom ale! Also pictured is a dirty Shirley and dawn burger brown read more

Had another great evening at Sweeten Creek. Friendly atmosphere and tasty beers. Met some old friends and met a couple of new folks. I had an amazing black IPA and a rauchbeer that was full bodied with just a hint of smokiness. read more

This place is AMAZING! Everything you'd want for a chill afternoon. Good beer and a variety of them? Check. Awesome, unique, bigger than your head sandwiches? Check. Indoor/outdoor spaces? Check. Entertainment? Check. Relaxing? Check plus! Ok so beer.. I had the black IPA as well as a brown. Both were delicious and well-crafted. They had about 6 taps, but the variety was good and appeased even the pickiest of my group. To eat, I ordered the Monte Cristo, which isn't your typical Monte Cristo apparently. But it was cheesy comfort food and the jam side was super fresh. It was a huge sandwich, came with a side, and was only $8! The bar is small, with only a few seats at it, but there are a good number of tables inside, and a bunch of picnic tables outside. They also have a huge property with an open grassy area, which is open to wander and I'm sure is awesome for events. Entertainment-wise, they have corn-hole and some other yard games and it looked like they were setting up for some live music. The best part about this place to me was how relaxing it was. You can give your ID and get 3 double nest Eno's to string up on their hammock stand out in the grassy area. We laid there and drank for hours. They really know how to keep their customers happy here. read more
Come for the beer, but stay for the food. They have some seriously amazing sandwiches! Boyfriend had the grinder and I had a turkey/pimento cheese/avocado melt. Both were delicious!! The potato salad was good too. Excellent pimento cheese. The pretzels it comes with are just standard rold golds, so that could be better, but still delicious! They have tables outside, and an area for hammocks, cornhole, etc that we didn't even see until we were leaving! Oh and the beer, I had a black IPA I really liked. It's a little off the beaten path, but worth the visit! read more

Just walking in I knew I'd love this place. All handmade tables and chairs with an open, airy vibe. They didn't do flights while I was there but our bartender let us try a few different beers at no charge. They also do half pours which allowed us to make our own makeshift flights. If you like bacon and avocado- you have to try the big bird sandwich. Turkey, bacon, avocado and pimento cheese on wheatberry will knock your socks off. Potato salad is killer! read more

This is a very nice hidden gem on the south side of Asheville. I met several coworkers there for lunch on Friday and was very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. There were six of us total and everyone agreed that the food was fantastic. Being a working day I was unable to partake in their beer but that just gives me all the more reason to return. There is plenty of seating both inside and out and the whole place has a very peaceful laidback vibe to it. My only real complaint is that it could use a bigger sign out front as it's set a bit back from the street and is hard to see if you don't know what you're looking for. GPS will get you there but I drove by it on accident my first time. I certainly plan on returning. read more

I LOVE this place! The atmosphere is fun, whimsical, warm, and friendly. It is small, but well worth a visit for sure. I came on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside on the picnic tables. The beer was delicious! They also have food and snacks to order. Dumplings=delicious!! I was very happy and impressed with the flavor. The staff is overly friendly and so were the patrons on this particular day. Always nice to make new friends over beer. I look forward to my next visit. read more
Nice Asheville brewery off the beaten path. Beers were good (not great) and drinkable. The food...outstanding! Sampled the Monte Cristo and the Chicken Salad sandwich. Food is where this place shines! The Monte Cristo came with a berry jam that enhanced the ham/cheee, toasted bread creation. The chicken salad sandwich was moist and tasty. I'm not a big fan of mayo so chicken salad is sometimes tough for me but Sweeten Creeks chicken salad was a perfect blend. Choice of sides was potato salad (creamy, blended with peas and green onions) and very good. Also enjoyed a bag of chips. Overall...good beer, great food, awesome atmosphere. Would repeat if I lived close or visit the area again. read more

Geez this place is great! I'm still shaking my head that it's been open for two months and I hadn't been there yet... Sweeten Creek combines a Sandwich Shop and Brewery for the proverbial one, two punch. The taproom is bright, airy and just the right size for about twenty to thirty drinkers. What I love most about this place is that the beers aren't fancy and full of strange ingredients that I may or may not want to drink. Their names aren't trendy either. They are solid "style based" beers like Pilsner, IPA, Pale Ale, Brown Ale , Porter and Black IPA - and they are delicious. The Black IPA was my favorite - just a well done, well rounded beer. Sweeten Creek has really nailed "the basics" and makes beer that is refreshing and drinkable, which sounds easy but isn't. The handmade Pan Fried Vegetarian Dumplings with an incredible 3 chili sauce just made me love this place even more. Needless to say I was Impressed and these guys may have replaced Hi Wire in my #5 slot of Asheville Breweries. read more

Great place to grab a local beer (with a few select guest taps, too). Joe and Erica have a great thing started at their new addition to the local beer scene. Pale Ale and Brown are our "go-to" beers and were simple yet complex. Love all the wood tables, bar tops and friendly feel when you walk in the door. You can check out the brewing process as it's got an open viewing when you head towards the back next to the deli, which has excellent food being served up by Chad. On our second visit in a week we tried our first of what will be many bites for lunch or dinner. Wanted to try several things but dove in with these first: Hubby had the Grinder with potato salad and I created my own Melt--pimento cheese, avocado and bacon on Texas Toast---out of this world!! Glad to have nibbles with great local beer! Can't wait to hang outside this summer by the creek! read more

The beer was good, as were the sandwiches and cider, but the potato salad? Well, let me just say...it would be worth it to go to this brewery just to eat their potato salad! Good lord, that was good. It's an open atmosphere, with half the place inside and half outside. Cool chairs and bar stools, wooden picnic tables outside. Looks like a great place to have a party or meet a group of friends. They're dog friendly too, which is always fun. It's a bit hard to find because their signage is pretty bad, but they're working on that. read more

Great, great sammies! Monte Cristo is light where many are too much. The salads had were potato and macaroni homemade better than any home I've been to. Accommodated her GF desire for a Reuben with awesome, amazing house made pickled cabbage, really f.ing awesome!! Oh and the beer John brews is good too. read more
So thrilled this place opened! This place is right down the street from my house with a great sandwich shop and a outdoor lawn area which will be perfect during the summer! They have both heat and it looks like air conditioning plus you can view the brewery from behind the bar. All of the sandwiches are fantastic and my favorite thing to order are the potstickers! If you get lucky there goat named Scooter might even be there for you to play with. There is also a really sweet old dog that will hang out with you while you enjoy a beer with your friends. read more
