I have to tell you... I am in tears of how wonderful the Dr. was and the staff.. they really care about your well being... even beyond getting glasses! After I went in the first appointment... I can't even tell you how awesome April was! She made me LMAO! Then seeing the Dr. , so heart warming! A few days later, I freaked out a bit, because when I saw the Dr. , that was the last day of my insurance. But I woke up, and I couldn't see even with my good glasses. I called them, they took me in Immediately! I was in tears.. the Dr. took me right in... checked everything out... because of personal things happening in my life, he thought it was because of lack of sleep and stress. He was completely right!! Not only will he be my forever eye Dr. but also my therapist!!! Hahahhaha! He is beyond awesome! I went in to get some sunglasses fixed. Koi could not have been nicer or more helpful - I thought for sure my broken glasses were non fixable! So disappointed, as they were expensive and brand new! I received a call an hour later apologizing that he took "so long" to get back to me! The glasses had been fixed and there would be no charge. First class service all away around. They have a great selection of frames. I actually have a different optometrist but they had great frames, the price was comparable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I have issues with my previous scrip from old doc and they didn't work with my new glasses and Dr. Wong gave me an eye exam for free to check what's the difference and why I would have a problem. I have 60 days for the lab to re-do the Rx for free so I'm working on that now. They have been nothing but helpful. They also take VSP insurance. Highly recommend. read more

As a very unhappy client coming from Lens Crafters in Oceanside prior to visiting Dr. Wong office, I was very skeptical and cautious. Once I open up and explained my goals the entire staff was very patient, friendly and Dr. Wong went above and beyond to find the perfect soft contacts for me. Not only I've tried different brands and adjustments samples during the course of 4-5 weeks but he wanted to make sure, we took our time selecting the best possible lenses. After I tried a few selection and narrow things down, finally placed my order. Today I can say that it was so far the best experience I had out of all my previous ones. Went here 2 weeks ago very hesitant to get glasses. The entire staff was very nice and helpful. They took the time to explain my insurance plan and coverage. First visit for my teenage son for contact fitting , and annual eye exam. I needed to get him in quick as he wanted contacts for sports and unfortunately his original optometrist didn't have availability. Modern Eyes not only accommodated him on a Sat they sent him out with contacts that day. The staff was amazing, caring, and extremely patient with teaching my son how to use his contacts etc. Very happy with their overall knowledge and service. I definitely recommend. Review is for retail eyeglasses, I did not see the optometrist. Found this place as listed as a retailer of SALT brand frames, I actually ended up buying a different brand. The service was absolutely impeccable! Loved the woman who was helping me and she went out of her way to explain pricing with my VSP insurance plan. Not the biggest selection of frames but for how incredibly picky I am I was able to pick a frame same day (usually I shop around for months). I will be back when my FSA kicks in again next year! read more

I love their selection of eyewear, in addition to the fact that everyone is so friendly and nice, esp. Dr. Wang. He spent a lot of time discussing my eye problems and offering me inexpensive, even free solutions. He gave me quite a few samples of an eyedrop for dry eye. Other places I have been to offer their pricey prescription instead of giving me samples to try for over-the-counter solutions. Of course, trying on all the frames is always fun! They had such a huge selection that it took me a while before narrowing it down to five of my favorites, then another 40 minutes to narrow it down to two! The best part is that they didn't try to upsell me to the most expensive pair or add-ons that I didn't need. Comparing their prices, they were equal to the prices of name brand eyewear in the government site my hubby uses as a DoD employee! I love this place... And the fact that it is only seven minutes from my house is a bonus! read more

Great customer service and extremely friendly. They have a vast selection of brands. We went there specifically for SALT and they had the most any store in San Diego had. They explained everything very well and even provide a 30% or 40% discount for Military!!!!! We will definitely be returning for future frames and lenses. read more

My family and I have been going to Dr Wang for over a year now. Everyone in the office is very approachable and kind. They definitely go the extra mile to take care of every little issue we may have, they answer every question even from the kids, and they are very organized with their paperwork and billing. We also appreciate the fact that they value out time and are never late with our appointments yet we never feel rushed while we are in there. Amazing customer service. I came in with a prescription for my teenage soon and they helped him pick out a pair of cool Salt glasses that were ready in 1 week. When there I asked if they could help me repair the hinge on a broken pair of Gucci sunglasses. Apparently the replacement part was out of stock so they convinced Gucci to send me a new pair of sunglasses for free....and I didn't even buy them there. I lost my glasses surfing while on vacation. I came here for an eye exam and to purchase some emergency contact lenses. I spoke with Desiree who was polite and helpful. When I arrived I was told by someone else that I could ONLY be seen for eyeglasses and given a prescription and receive glasses TOMORROW potentially but not contacts. Idk, in my experiences, since the age of 9, with any optometrist I've ever been to, they have contact lenses at the office for samples. This may not seem like an emergency to someone that works at an optometrist office as they can pull contacts whenever necessary. I can't see TODAY. I can not express how disgusted I am with this experience and with their unwillingness to help me in this emergency situation. I'm sure that there will be some charming response to this, with some excuse and a public request to come back in or whatever, the thing is I was there and they didn't help and were rude like I was trying to rip them off in some way. read more

I went to my old optometrist for 15+ years but recently had to switch because of an insurance change. I was nervous to try somewhere new because my eyes are somewhat complex, but my experience at Modern Eyes could not have been better. The level of service here is truly exceptional. Dr. Wang is fantastic and thorough and my appointments have never been rushed. I primarily wear contacts and Dr. Wang was able to more accurately determine my prescription than my last office. Had I never come here, I would not have known that a little tweak in my prescription and a different brand of lenses could vastly improve my comfort and ability to see. The entire office staff is so friendly and helpful as well. They have a great selection of frames to choose from to suit all budgets and mine were ready within 1 week of ordering.
