This place treated me awfully. When I got to the appointment, I paid my co-pay. a few days later they stuck me with $315 bill. I called them and asked why they didn't tell me about this in advance. They had no answer. I started making payments on this. My first payment was$50. a couple days later they called me back and said they would refund me the money and everything was settled. I had to get some laser treatment and it is something I would not wish on anyone. Dr. Li was patient and understandingly as I had to take multiple breaks to handle the laser treatment. Unfortunately, I am unable to recommend Retina San Diego or Dr. Mozayan. First, to perform the exam he used a metal instrument that was old school and extremely uncomfortable. Second, Dr. Mozayan recommended laser surgery in four places where my retinas are thin. I went for two second opinions. Both doctors had more advanced equipment that was more comfortable for me. And they both said I did not need any laser surgery on either eye and that, in fact, doing the procedures prophylactically would cause a higher risk of retinal detachment in another part of the eye. I am very glad that I did not follow Dr. Mozayan's advice. read more

My eye doctor referred me to this practice because of floaters and bright flashing light. I was very happy with all the staff and the 2 doctors which are brothers. They are both very friendly, thorough, do not use "old school" instruments and take their time to explain everything to you and ensure you understand what they have found and a treatment plan. I started to have problems with my other eye over the Christmas weekend and one of the doctors opened the office during their vacation to examine my eye. We have had a couple doctors before visiting this place tell my dad that there was nothing they could do to help the vision in his eyes. He was losing vision completely in his Rt eye. So We came here in hopes to find a solution and Dr. Mozayan and brother were more then willing to help my dad to restore his vision. Within 2 months of us bringing my dad, he had vitrectomy surgery in his rt eye, which is the eye the other doctors said "there is nothing we can do about that". His eye is recovering well and his vision through his rt eye is better then before. These Doctors are very informative, patient and thorough. They made my dad very comfortable during his visits. My experience with Dr. Mozayan and his office was fantastic.  Waking up on a  Saturday morning in the middle of a pandemic with my peripheral vision decreasing was terrifying. I called quite a few Retina Specialist in San Diego, most of them did not call me back or would not see me because I was not their patient (after hours).  I received a call back within 30 minutes, after I left my message, and they met me at their office within 2 hours. Dr. Arash Mozayan, MD at Retina San Diego is outstanding. I can not know the number of hours he has dedicated to studying and performing eye surgeries, but I can literally SEE the results. I suffered retinal tears with hemorrhage that Dr. Mozayan was able to control with emergency laser surgery. Despite having a full schedule the afternoon my optometrist sent me, he performed laser surgery on both eyes in his office. Due to the slowness of the blood clearing in the left eye I opted for surgery at La Jolla. Surgery was quick 30 minutes, minimal discomfort, bandages removed the next day, and in 3 days I was watching movies. It would have taken months to clear, if it had at all. He is extremely skilled, professional, compassionate and caring. Everyone in the La Jolla operating theater complimented Dr Mozayan professional demeanor. He is really a nice guy to everyone! His staff is equally wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Mozayan as a very skilled surgeon who can preserve/restore your sight. read more

Dr Mozayan is a class act. Competent and caring. I have had an ongoing issue with something called CSR. In my case, he took a very non invasive approach, trying to do as little as possible until it was clear to him that I needed a treatment at UCSD Shiley - where they have a special laser machine. I had my eyes examined by an Ophthalmologist who indicated that I needed a photographic examination of the inside of my eyes. She referred me to Dr. Mazoyan in Encinitas, CA and called his office to let them know that I needed to see him. He was gracious enough to give me an immediate appointment and saw me within minutes of the time I arrived at his office after having driven from Oceanside, CA. I had seen Dr. Mazoyan on one other occasion in December of 2014 for a different issue. When he saw me he remembered having seen me previously. He did a preliminary examination and asked me some questions. He then performed the photography using a computer based system which allowed both of us to see the image on the screen as it displayed. Using technology like this allows him to zoom in on a specific portion of the eye for a detailed review. Being a Certified Computer Forensic Examiner, I enjoy a high degree of comfort in the area of computer related technology. I was absolutely impressed by the level of technology Dr. Mazoyan employs in his office. It is state of the art. In spite of my glee over the technology, it is not what was important to me during that visit. On both occasions when I was seen by him, his diagnosis was almost immediate and provided with great confidence. He is well educated in his field and well experienced in the various conditions of the eye. His office is comfortable and has a calming effect on his patients. When I mentioned that to him he noted that often his patients are referred to him when it is late in the progression of their condition. This sometimes means that the news isn't always good and having a calming atmosphere helps to relax the patient. What most impressed me was the elegance with which he performed his work and the thoughtfulness he has for his patients. I would not hesitate to commend to you the services of Dr. Mazoyan and if needed, would gladly pay for my family members to come from out of town to see him. Two super brilliant brothers who are working to keep our eyes healthy because of an uncle of theirs who went blind. I've been seeing them for them for over a year...they are very kind, soft spoken and capable. I'm very thankful for them saving my eyesight...it's shocking to be diagnosed with macular degeneration, and what that can mean. Dr. Arash Mozayan performed emergency retina reattachment surgery on me two years ago. He is one of the most caring and genuinely concerned doctors by whom I have been treated. Initially the surgical center said that there was not an opening until the following day. Dr. Mozayan persisted and he performed the surgery around 9 pm the same day of my initial contact. Since my surgery, the follow up has been superb. Dr. Mozayan detected the beginnings of the same issue in my other eye and he was able to address it immediately in his office, saving me having to go through the same surgery on the other eye.
