I've been coming here for about a year now, and it's my stop before a long study session. The staff is friendly and helpful. Recently, I had a small issue, and the owner personally reached out to make it right. I appreciated her and it shows how much she cares. I love this spot so much that I sometimes drive all the way from Surprise, even on days when I don't have classes nearby, just to grab a drink. Christian is killin' it! Possibly the best customer service I ever received. He was lively, friendly, polite, thoughtful, and kind. It was my first time there and he answered all of my questions and treated me like I was already a regular. I ordered the Irish Frost and the Protein Balls. The Irish Frost was good. I like that it wasn't too sweet. The protein balls were good too, they had oatmeal, flax, peanut butter, and chocolate. Prices are reasonable and I'll definitely be back! It's a local coffee shop. Decided I needed a coffee today after my swim but didn't want to walk into a shop in a wet swimsuit so modern grinds drive through was the perfect fix! They have a ton to choose from here and everything looked super good! I'll have to try a botanical nitro next time. I got an iced coffee with oat milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. They put a cute little chocolate covered coffee bean on top too! It was really good! Only complaint was that I think they put way too much ice in it, leaving me with few sips of coffee, but that is ok! This is the second time now that I've came here and been extremely disappointed. We ask the barista for any fun cold brew/foam combos or special concoction recommendations and she just goes "ummm no not really". What? So you're a barista here and you have absolutely no zero recommendations? Okay.... We end up getting a cold brew with some kind of caramel cinnamon cold foam and it was absolutely tasteless. It was so horrible that we just poured our drinks down the sink when we got home. And we spent $13 on that. Like I said, second time this has happened and won't be coming back. I'm currently visiting the Phoenix area and while driving around, saw this cute little coffee shop and its big "Grand Opening" banner, so I decided to give it a try. Modern Grind is drive-through only, which makes it extra safe during COVID times. There are two ordering windows, so just pick a lane. The menu is simple and straightforward, with several signature nom-nom drinks, ice blended / granita drinks, and standard espresso drinks. I don't drink Americano coffee and I don't like super sweet or frou-frou coffee drinks, so I was so happy to see a section for straight up espresso. Shots, cappucino, latte, all the normal, plain favorites. It took a while to place our order although there wasn't a line, but I think it's because the guy in the lane next to us had a really complicated order. The girl working the drive-through window was SUPER cheerful, chipper, and friendly, and she made me smile just by taking my order. She apologized for the wait, and seemed really happy that we had such an easy order (two small cappuccinos). She even remarked "that's easy enough!" It didn't take long for our drinks to be prepared, just a few minutes. Their system works a lot like Human Bean, where you order and they begin to prepare your drinks when you get up to the window to pay. It's not as efficient as the bigger places like Starbucks, but it results in better coffee and a more personalized experience, in my opinion. We had a nice socially distanced and fully masked chat while paying, and since we paid by credit card, she asked if we'd like to add a tip. It's always awkward, but of course we added $1 to our total. The small (12 ounce) cappuccinos cost $3.95 each, which is pricey, but our grand total with tax and tip was less than $10. Our coffee was served piping hot (we had to wait about 10 minutes for it to cool down enough so we wouldn't burn our tongues), but I LOVE hot coffee so it was perfect. Although we had the exact same drink, the look of the coffees was inconsistent. My husband's had way more fluffy foam and I only had a dollop. No problem, but consistency is sort of important when it comes to craft coffee. The coffee flavor was absolutely fantastic. Mild, smooth, and absolutely delicious. It's leaps and bounds better than any other chain espresso, but not as good as Blue Bottle (which is my gold standard for espresso in the U.S.). It's more of a cereal type undertone rather than fruity, which is what I prefer. I just finished my cup and wish I had another right now! It's so good I had to write a review right away. They also give you a little chocolate covered coffee bean with your drink, just like Human Bean. While this is a grab and go coffee place, they do have a few outdoor tables on a shady, covered patio if you want to enjoy the fresh air while you sip. While I wish the price was a little bit lower, there's just so much to love about Modern Grind, from the service to the quality of the product! Give them a try, you'll be glad you did! read more

Good coffee. Came to check it out. They had some specials going on during their grand opening week. Got their white Angel. They were out of one of the white chocolates. Still got it and tasted it before leaving and asked for some caramel drizzle. My brother also got the caramel twist and sister got the cookies and cream without coffee. They also give you espresso beans too with your drink. There's lots of choices to chose from. They have a drive thru or you can order at the window and they also have a patio to sit. read more

We decided to give this coffee shop a try since it was close to us while we were visiting. Their menu is not updated for the food and the new sizes for drinks they offer so it took a bit long to order in the drive. Our barista was taking our order over the speaker and was saying okay after every item we ordered but when we went to the window it wasn't correct for maybe over half of what we had ordered. Went thru the drive thru to get some coffee before my road trip to CA. I went there to try the butterscotch drink but for some reason couldn't find it on the drive thru menu so I got an iced caramel drink and my friend got a chai latte. I did later see the butterscotch drink on the drive thru window, so just ask if you want to try it even though you don't see it on the menu when ordering. I stuck to my drink, I did not want to change my order last minute. It tasted good and hit strong. Large iced drink size was huge for me and I should have stuck to medium. The drive thru was not too busy and this was around 8 am in the morning on a weekday so that was nice to stop quickly and get a drink. Their drive thru person was nice and friendly. Modern grind has a drive thru and walk up window, with a couple of tables outside should you wish to sit and enjoy your drink. I love the overall look of the building and seating, plus they have a super clean restroom! I tried a small regular mocha and it was really tasty. I finally found THE ONE that's a legit Mom and Pop place, and still believes in customer service. ‍ A friend told me about this cute little stand alone coffee shop that's close to my Gym. Pulling up I was struggling with what to order because there was VARIETY of items on the menu that you just don't see with the chain locations. Pre workout smoothies, fruit smoothies, protein balls and snacks and all kinds of hot and cold coffee. So when I was asked to placed my order, I said I needed a minute lol. I ended up with a workout smoothie, and a fun leprechaun concoction for my husband. Kristian was helping me at the window, and was super chatty and friendly. On this visit I ordered an Iced Carmel Mochitto (thank you Daphine) and it was absolutely delicious. This Carmel Mochitto had it all. A full-bodied espresso, vanilla, milk, ice, topped off with a caramel drizzle, for that sweet finish. The coffee and flavors were perfectly balanced, the best mochitto I've had in sometime, it was so refreshing. You have to stop by Modern Grind and enjoy the coffee. You can't beat this place.
