Well, I will just add to the great reviews! Love this place and I love having a good local coffee place! The owner is super sweet and the staff are always super friendly. You can order ahead online through Heartland app, which is nice. The cold brew is great, which is my go-to. They have a very small selection of energy drink base flavors- none of which appeal to me - and I like an afternoon pick-me-up sometimes. The food options just expanded from bakery items, bagels, and protein balls to include a breakfast sandwich. I do like the healthy-ish focus on some items! It is a drive-through or outdoor window pick up only. I despise a drive thru, so it's hot right now to go to the window. But overall, love this place and it's near work- so I go often. read more

Super friendly service and yummy drinks - we had an espresso drink and a smoothie and loved both! This place is awesome. We stopped on our way out of town and will always make this our final stop going to CA. Coffee is a 3/5. Other local coffee shops have a better taste. Staff was friendly but felt pushed when it came to adding a tip. I always give a 15-18% at the coffee shops so I'm definitely not a tight person. It was just the wording that made me feel obligated to tip. Love this coffee place! Small, but cute sitting area outside. The baristas are super friendly and helpful! I haven't had the food yet, but the coffee has been delicious! They also have pup cups (they do charge a $1 but it's more than just whipped cream) I recommend this coffee shop to everyone and will drive out of my way to get coffee and the chocolate covered espresso beans! I drink coffee at all "coffee spots"BUT this one has a alot of something that will make me walk away from the others. They have white coffee!!! I'm from Seattle and this is by far one of the best coffee shops in Arizona. If you haven't tried white coffee, you need to. It's not as acidic and smoother with more caffeine. What's not to love? My husband got a cold brew with foam, it was smooth. Overall: Not over roasted, smooth and not tooth ache sweet like some places. read more

I love this local place. THe coffee is better than Starbucks or Black Rock. The people working have great recommendations and you always leave happy. They have been doing a teacher discount lately so I have been stopping in a lot. My favorite is Chai Latte or Strawberry Reign. Make sure you grab some goodies too like their Bannana cookies! I started coming here about 2 years ago back when they had Groupons and have been coming ever since !! The coffee slaps every. single. time! And I'm picky with coffee, but modern grind is consistently a 10/10. I always get a dirty chai with pumpkin cold foam, sometimes mix it up with their yummy seasonal drinks. I'm always on the lookout for really good coffee. I wanted to pick up a cup of coffee on my way out of Phoenix and was looking around to see what my choices were. Modern Grind looked like a good option. The short review is that I would for sure go back if I'm in the area. The good and bad are below: The Good - my coffee was really good. I got out of the car and went to the window to place my order. The girl at the window was very friendly and provided great customer service. The barista checked to make sure my coffee was okay after he gave me the cup. A really nice experience. The Bad - I had to drive around a bit looking for the business because their signage isn't easy to see. I almost left the shopping center. This is a very small pad building with a drive-thru. The other thing that was a bit difficult was reading the menu that was posted by the window. I'm over 50 and use reading glasses. The writing was just too small. I can't comment on what it looked like from the drive-thru lane. read more

This place blew me away! It took a second to find it because I'm not from the area but once I did I was pleased to be welcomed by a super friendly staff eager to help me find the perfect drink. Once I pulled up to the window to pay, they were unaware of the Yelp check in offer but instead of giving me a hard time they honored it and even thanked me for making them aware of it! I explained I was just passing by and what I was doing in the area. They were so excited I stopped by that they had me try out a delicious banana cookie. I'll be honest the drink and cookie was a absolutely delicious but what was even more appealing was their warm friendly vibe! I usually drink my coffee at home using my trusty Keurig coffee maker. It is good, but, realistically, kind of boring. So, several times a week I stop by one the local take away/drive thru small coffee shops. One of my favorites is Modern Grind. First of all it is a modern contemporary structure that is kind of appealing to me. Second they have a fairly extensive menu for a small place, all types of coffee, energy drinks, kids drinks, pastry and cookies, something for everybody. But, I go there because the coffee is just so darn good and flavorful. I splurged this time and got a Caramel Macchiato, guess I was craving something sweet. Not only sweet, but I like the vanilla as well. There is seating, so I did not have to balance my coffee drinking with the operation of my car. So nice to just sit, watch the world go by and sip on an excellent cup of coffee. Oh, yes the employees are fun, enthusiastic, knowledgeable there to make you a coffee person. Such a lovely clean coffee house. The service is ALWAYS pleasant and uplifting ALWAYS!! I've been coming here ever since they opened. I've ordered a few different items and they are all so yummy it keeps me craving MORE My personal favorite is the Spice Cinnamon Hot Tea/ or cold. With a heavy splash of heavy whipping cream and 3-4 Stevia's So it's sugar free but taste like it does have sugar in it. It hits all my craving spots. Then they have these protein balls, five come in a cup-they are healthy and filling and tasty. I was looking for a good coffee spot in the Avondale area and decided to give this new coffee spot a try. It recently opened up in early December, and the best part of my experience was the great customer service. A very friendly and kind young lady greeted me at the window after I place my order, and the small talk was pleasant. The coffee was good as you would expect from an independent shop. Their medium blend was on the mild side when it came to flavor. Not too strong like you would find at the big chain stores. My wife really liked their Cinnamon Spin which was flavored with cinnamon, hazelnut, and vanilla. They also provide you with a couple of chocolate covered coffee beans which was a nice little compliment. My wife is particular when it comes to coffee, so if you can win her over, then the coffee is good, and this is definitely a place I will be returning to when I visit Phoenix again. read more

Why pay for crappy coffee at Starbucks when you can spend equally high prices for GREAT coffee? I've started asking myself that question every time I start craving caffeine. I asked myself this question a while back & found myself at Modern Grind. I decided to order "for here" & sit on their outdoor patio. I ordered my usual mocha with plant milk, & wow. The coffee is SO good. Rich, chocolaty, but not too sweet. Strong espresso that isn't sour or bitter, just delicious flavor notes mixed with mocha goodness. The plant milk is better too. This quirky place offers a wide range of drinks. I haven't tried most of them, but if my order is any indication, they're probably bomb af. When I was served my drink, there was this weird little egg-looking thing sitting on top of the lid. I asked the barista what it was, & she told me it was a chocolate-covered espresso bean! So cute! It was delicious also. Try this place out! They have a drive-thru if you aren't in the mood to sit outside. But the patio is nice. My only suggestion would be to keep it clean--the tables were spotless, but there were a few napkins & assorted paper items strewn about. Just a little damper on the ambience. But other than that, Modern Grind is the place to go. Break up with Starbucks, people. You deserve better. Try this place. read more

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place with a passion!! The employees are extremely nice and caring. The coffee, smoothies, and teas are all absolutely amazing! There is no hesitance for them to help you with choosing either which I often struggle with because I can be a bit indecisive. The prices compare to that of a Starbucks depending on what you order, but the quality is way better! Each drink even comes with a little chocolate covered coffee bean which I love!
