I love Modern Market in that it offers fresh, healthy options, as well as ample options for vegetarians who want to also make sure they get their protein in! I used to frequent the location in Arboretum a lot before moving, but decided to pay the location in Westlake a visit on a Sunday when I was feeling particularly hungry. I got the BBQ pizza, replacing the meat with tofu. Everything would have been perfect except I had to wait incredibly long for the pizza, when I'm so used to quick service based on my experience at the Arboretum location. Had to wait almost 20 minutes...I'm surprised I didn't pass out from hunger onto my pizza! Without a doubt, I ate the entire pizza except for one or two crusts. I was so hungry, the picture of my pizza was taken mid-consumption! I love how many gluten free options they have on the menu and the availability of gluten free bread, although the food does feel a bit overpriced. While the overall flavors were good, the salmon itself was overcooked and very dry. I think I'd want to try something else if I come back, but I definitely appreciate knowing they have so many menu options I can eat! I had to go to the frost tower and this lil restaurant was tucked away in it. It was so difficult figuring out what to order because EVERYTHING looked and sounded great. They had an elote pizza but I ended up getting this big ass salad. Look at how gorgeous she is. Stunning. Modern Market has become our weekly staple. For some reason, I didn't have high expectations. I've never heard of MM and no one's ever mentioned it, so I was surprised to see it come up on Yelp. We were in a pinch so I placed a pick up order. The quality of the ingredients is superior. It's priced less than Flower Child or sweetgreens. And the serving sizes are hearty! Our go to items: Braised Angus Beef Bowl Chicken Banh Mi (careful -- those jalapeños be spicy! But it's so good. The bread...all of it! Even the chips that comes with it!) Any of the kids meals The menu can be overwhelming but so far, everything we've had has been delicious, so you can't go wrong. (You'll just need to return more often to try the rest of it ). Been here a handful of times now for lunch and have enjoyed every thing I've gotten. Have tried something new each time. The Salmon Bowl with the Butternut Curry... Is delicious and light. The Green Chili Chicken Soup was good. It went well with the Basil Roasted Chicken Sandwich.... A very filling lunch. Today I tried the Make Your Own Protein Bowl and it was perfect. It's fast and healthy but that's about all I can say for Modern Market. They got a lot of quick bowl options with some veggies, protein and rice but that's about it. Portions are overall a bit small and not that flavorful despite the description of all the ingredients. I got the seared tuna bowl and it has everything that you would want, just maybe not at a price you want to pay for it. The steak with roasted veggies and greens is not bad either but definitely had better. I guess you could do worse for a midweek lunch but I would still prefer to be full afterwards. read more

Not safe for Celiacs or people with severe food allergies, when really you'd think that'd be directly in their niche. I've gotten glutened maybe 5 times in the last year, and two of them have been trying to give Modern Market a shot. And each time has cost me days of being extremely inflamed and ill. The most dangerous places for people with food intolerances and allergies are the ones that mark their menu and boast being allergy-friendly, but then have a staff who do not actually properly understand the sensitivity required to accommodate. Flower Child, Honest Mary's, Moonbowls...all similar establishments I've eaten much more often with zero issue. Modern Market is unfortunately really the one not holding itself to the same safety standards as the others. read more

Quick and easy healthy food and a decent selection. Word of caution: I would recommend reading the full ingredient list through their online ordering rather than on their print menu, as I'm allergic to agave and twice it appeared in things I ordered but was not listed on the print menu. Mostly that ingredient appeared in their sauces and dressings. Overall though, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. Would definitely get the tomato soup and mac 'n' cheese again. The Chicken Bahn Mi had great flavoring but was too little content on too much bread for me. Also, the chips it came with were way over spiced and too salty. The Thai Coconut Salad had many good, distinct flavors, but that was one of the ones where agave hid. Overall I'd lean towards the protein bowls, where you can customize the two sides you want. Appreciate that they charge a couple pennies per to-go order to offset the cost of packaging. Sampled a wide variety of dishes and was over all pleased with the flavors for a quick spot to eat, but will have to carefully read the menu before I visit again. read more

They never make my Bahn mi well. I have paid for extra jalapeños and it has come with zero. Almost like a cruel joke. I always get the gluten free bread however there is no direct number to call the store and tell them to be careful with cross contamination so I've had to chance it at times. You can always count on them for a quick, healthy, and tasty meal. They also have picky eater favorites like pizza and mac & cheese. There really is something for everyone! My personal favorite is the Lemongrass Pork Bowl. Two of our other favorites are the Merida salad and the Thai Coconut Salad. Pro Tip: You can get any pizza in a half size, and most salads/sandwiches come in half sizes as well. If you can't decide between two items, just get both!
