I've been walking by this place for years on my way to Tacodeli. I had a tooth extracted last week and wasn't feelin' chomping another tortilla. There it was! A picture of a bowl with salmon, rice, and veggies on the Cava window! A beacon of sore gum relieving tender deliciousness! I kept walking, but then I saw something I'd never seen there before in their outdoor dining area.... People! And they looked like they were enjoying their food. Well, I did it. I went in. I guess I arrived Cava Ignorant. When you walk in, there's a Delivery sign, a Pickup sign, a Catering Sign, and a screen saying download the app to place an order. This is often our default choice when we want something fast and healthy. Easy parking and a quick, clean place to grab healthy Mediterranean food. Similar concept as chipotle - you can build your own bowl. Love the fresh ingredients and variety of sauces. The harissa chicken is a bit too spicy for me but I may just be a wimp. I'm so happy to update my original review--from 2 stars to a full 5--because CAVA Westlake has truly turned things around. The improvement in both service and food quality is noticeable, and it's become one of my favorite go-to lunch spots in the area. The staff is now consistently friendly, fast, and attentive--even during the busy lunch rush. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and everything tastes clean and satisfying. I especially love the build-your-own bowl with harissa honey chicken, roasted veggies, and that crave-worthy garlic dressing. They've clearly listened to feedback and made real changes. I love Cava and I have been to most of the Cava's in town. I will now only go to the one on Bee Cave Road. Two days ago I had the pleasure of Kelly preparing my "chicken bowl". Kelly was amazing!! This place seems to have good reviews so maybe my experience suffered from doing pickup instead of ordering at the store, but I was not super impressed with my salad bowl. Greens were fresh but the portion was so small! For $15 I would expect the to-go container to actually be full of lettuce at the very least but it looked rather sad when I got to my car to check my order. The flavors were good, I love that you can customize everything, the falafel were super tasty, but it was disappointing to see the amount I got for the price. The lamb meatballs were decent but a little dry- if I went again I'd just get the falafel. Also a small complaint, the pickled red onions were cut very inconsistently with some nice slices and some huge chunks. read more

The food is total and complete garbage for what you pay. My son and I went, just to try something different. I am a complete Riley's fan as far as Lockhart Bbq goes, but I thought I'd try something different for a change. We went through the line getting our beef brisket and sides, not really paying attention to the price. JUST for my son and I , it was $52 dollars. As shocked as I was, I was thinking , "Terry Blacks" it's probably worth it. The brisket was ALL fat, the sides were something you'd get at a flea market, and the tea tasted like instant tea you spoon in from a plastic canister. The restaurant it self was all snazzy and fancy, which explains the cost of the food, to pay for all the frufru. Riley's dinning is simple, and the price is great. Ah, the Chipotle of fresh Mediterranean food has arrived and it's CAVA. I've heard nothing but good things about CAVA and it's true how yummy and fresh their ingredients are. But I wasn't a fan of their falafels, and I kept on finding myself comparing it to The Kebab Shop (also a chain) and other local falafel favorites that are food trucks or mom-n-pop. I definitely feel like CAVA is geared to the eater who wants the comfort of picking and choosing the assembly process that goes into their bowl like how Chipotle started the trend. However, it's not a place that I think is as tasty or generous with their portions compared to others. The falafel bowl I got with half greens and half grains was colorful and tasty, don't get me wrong...but it wasn't what I thought was delicious or utterly amazing. I think it appeals to the healthy eaters who aren't looking for kebabs or gyros. Which is a shame, because I think the latter have better flavor. They do offer online ordering, drinks and other items like pita chips. The interior and exterior are wonderfully manicured and presented, so you can finish spin class and head over here to refuel. However, I think I've been spoiled with the deliciously crunchy on the outside and moist/not-pasty on the inside falafels I've had over the years, and CAVA's doesn't cut it for me. Granted, I didn't love the falafel, which were cold and oddly chewy. To give them the benefit of the doubt, they may have just sat food too long. The roasted veggies are definitely the way to go for the best veg option. From there, you can load up on hummus and as many toppings as you want for no additional charge. I've been to few places like this in Bay Area with the same concept like Saaj or Halal Guys and this one is so far my favorite. First thing, pricing is great, you can get a bowl for ~$10. The collection of sides are also pretty good, you have a few option for rice, protein (meat ball, chicken, braised lamb) and some greens options (cucumber salad, olives and etc). The only down side is that, it's less Mediterranean compare to other places I've been. From the seasoning to the way they've prepared the meat, it doesn't struck me as a true Mediterranean restaurant. Their saffron rice also doesn't taste anything like saffron ( it's also white not yellow). In general, I would consider it as a quick Mediterranean inspired fast food with fresh ingredients. My option for warm large pita is always these: -roasted white sweet potato half & harissa honey chicken half -Spreads: tzatziki/or Hummus & Harissa -Toppings: fired roasted corn, tomato+onion salad, pita crisps -Dressings: Yogurt Dill & Tahini Caesar Super good. One time I also added a mini pita with slight different variation, I changed the spread to red pepper hummus, instead of regular hummus. It was still very delicious! With this, 993 calories for one large Pita, you obtaining enough nutrients you needed after workout with a full of deliciousness. This was only cost me 10.23 (including tax) with an additional mini pita, was about 13 dollars. What a good deal! read more

I needed to get a CAVA gift card and proceeded off to West Lake Hills to get it and to try this place out for lunch. The parking lot looked big but few spots available. I managed to find one and walked inside. The place looked fresh and observed how people order. Looked like you pick your ingredients in a bowl or pita. So I wait until the people in line clears out and then I make my move. I get a bowl for takeout and navigate through each topping. Nothing is labeled so I have to ask the serving lady what it is. Luckily no one was behind me where I was taking a while. The ingredients are not common like harissa, falafel, and black lentils. I make my selections where some I know and others guessing. To my surprise they sell tiny glass bottles of Acqua Panna which is one of my favorite drinking waters. I got one and a gift card. I got home and opened the lid to my bowl with my Italian water. The bowl was huge and a lot food to eat. I took one bite and it was tasty. I was expecting a very dry heathy meal but it was a bit slick probably from the Brown Basmati Rice and Grilled Chicken. I liked it and filled me up for the day. I need to return and try a different selection of ingredients. Fresh ingredients and good food. A Greek inspired chipotle look alike. I was very happy with the variety of ingredients and the freshness. I thought it was nice hey allow you to sample the ingredients before adding them to your bowl. They also have an app that helps make orders faster. Basically a chipotle for a Greek inspired bowl of food. They have a patio with fans that you can bring your dog to and eat. Cover offers a healthy alternative to some of the other nearby quick eats. There's a good selection of vegetarian/ vegan options, which is refreshing. There's ample parking, and the staff are always friendly, greeting you at the smile. The wait times can be protracted, especially during peak times at dinner and at lunch. This may have to do with the popularity of this particular location, but it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue at some of the other caval locations. I hate having to update a review but after goin here additional times I am over it. They are always understaffed at any time of the day. The tzatziki sauce yesterday looked horrible. Like it was sitting out for awhile and got warm and watery. Sometimes there are pita chips premised and there but they're cold. The staff acts like it's a huge put out to make additional pita chips that aren't cold and having been sitting out that are soggy. I really don't understand why or how orders and ordering there is so difficult. It's a step by step process and is always a hassle. read more

CAVA is my new favorite place for Mediterranean/middle eastern food. The set-up is basically just like a chipotle and you have the choice of bowls or pita-wraps. My favorite dish is the grain bowl with half brown rice and half lentils. All the proteins I've had have been excellent too (chicken/meatballs/falafel). The inside area is very nice and they're doing an excellent job at social distancing both for employees and customers. I'm torn rating this review. The food is good but they're almost always out of ingredients. :( I'm a creature of habit and usually get the Greek Salad as is with everything they recommend. From the chicken, tzatziki, hummus, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives to the Greek vinaigrette...I often have it half consumed by the time I reach my destination. However, the last 3 times I was there they were either out of the tzatziki, hummus or tomato/cucumbers. Pretty disappointing, honestly. Of course I opt to double up on something else but it just isn't really the same. They are usually quite busy but the line moves pretty smoothly. It reminds me of chipotle in the sense that you are behind looking and picking what you want. You pick a base such as grain and greens. Then dips and spread like hummus, toppings and dressing.
