Lemon Grass Tuna - Line-caught ahi, rice & quinoa, carrot, cucumber, pickled onion, jalapeño, cilantro, peanut, lemongrass aioli, chile vngr

***Fresh, Healthy, Delicious! *** When on a diet, do you dread eating out because of work???? You don't have to. Nestled in the heart of the arboretum, this bright beacon of goodness awaits you! I had the lemon grass tuna. It was delicious and succulent! Tuna is cold and perfectly cooked though. You can tell how it was seared. They made it a point to make it know that it's "Line-caught"! I didn't know that was a thing. I just care about it being plate served. The peanuts and dressing gave it an Asian flare. When served I thought I would need more...but when done my belly was full. PRO TIP - Double the protein for just a couple dollars more. Staff was bright and happy! Super helpful and it just adds to this delight of a hidden healthy gem.

Come here if you're hungry but want to feel good about yourself after you eat. They have great choices and I've liked everything I've tried. My go to at MME is the lemongrass tuna bowl. The tuna steak is sliced and served cold so you have to be okay with that and it comes with rice and quinoa, carrot, cucumber, pickled onion, jalapeño, cilantro, peanut, lemongrass aioli, and a chile vinegar. The other thing I must have is the cucumber lemonade. I don't normally order lemonade but the cucumber flavor is pronounced and it is just so refreshing in this heat. There are both booths and high top tables here as well as a single eaters nook in front of the window. You order and pay at the register so service is efficient if you need to get back to work in a hurry.

Honestly pretty decent prices for the food and reasonable serving sizes. It's a good place to get something quick to eat, but I wouldn't really say anything wow-ed me. I really enjoyed the blueberry pesto sandwich. I was afraid the jam would overpower the pesto or vice versa but both flavors came through really well and complimented each other. They give a good amount of mozzarella too. And the tomato and arugula just seals the deal. However, the macaroni and cheese was kind of overcooked and a little mushier than we would have preferred.

I've been to MM a few times and the food is healthy, fresh, and good. Took a couple of friends here for lunch while they were in town visiting this past weekend. We enjoyed our food and even had a little leftover to eat later in the day. Two of us ordered the salmon curry bowl and one had a veggie sandwich. They were out of kombucha when we were there so we tried one of their Olipop sodas, which was ok. It's a good place to go for a healthy, veggie friendly meal! It can be confusing to figure out if you are supposed to clear your own table or not.

Learned about MME's existence very recently and I am so excited to return! They are the typical fast casual type restaurant, but a lot of the selection is vegetarian and vegan friendly. They offer salads, bowls, sandwiches, cool sides, pizzas, and desserts. I love how you can customize practically anything on their menu. I asked for a half BBQ pizza to be replaced with tofu instead of chicken, and they had no issues at all. My order of a half pizza and their arugula and gorgonzola salad was the perfect portion for lunch. The salad was generously dressed, which wasn't too much of an issue for me, but if that's something you are not into just be aware of that.

We came here for the $10 Bowl on Monday. It rotates every week and we got the Curry Salmon when we went. It was filling and tasty. Macros friendly. Healthy kale salad with creamy sweet potato curry and rice with quinoa. Salmon was slightly dry to my liking but it was ok with the saucy curry. Large portion for the price. The drinks are fabulous, especially the cucumber mint lemonade! Quick service and very nice staff. It's a low key atmosphere, great for a quick lunch/ dinner. However, the prices are on the higher end. I would only go on Monday when they have that $10 deal.

*Speaking for delivery experience: The food itself was great, I liked the seared ahi tuna-- I got this along with the curry salmon bowl which was also delicious. I liked how balanced the meal was with salad, wild rice, citrus sauces etc. However, I was shocked at how thin this take-out dish was. While the meal was sufficient for one portion, I guess I'm getting pretty used to going to other salad places that actually have depth to their bowls, and cost around $14. (I usually get too full with those other bowls and end up splitting it into two meals, whereas this is sufficient for just one meal) I get that I might have ordered pricier proteins, but if I ordered the other proteins (ie chicken) for $14, I'd still feel like this place is a bit overpriced.

I love this place and brought a friend to try some of the dishes. The parking is close, free and easy. They have lots of vegetarian options as I love veggies but don't limit myself to just them. We ordered 2 dishes on the app at home as it is very straight forward and easy to use and then it's ready when we arrive in less than 10 minutes. I got the Curry Salmon which is sustainable salmon, rice and quinoa, fire roasted veggies, marinated kale, coconut sweet potato curry, toasted coconut, green onion. So yummy I could eat this everyday! The other dish was the Lemongrass Tuna which tastes so fresh since it is line-caught seared tuna, rice and quinoa, carrot, cucumber, pickled onion, jalapeño, cilantro, peanut, lemongrass aioli, chile vinegar. Delicious and one of their most popular dishes.

Another great lunch at Modern Market. Quick and healthy options is why we have returned many times to this location. My kids are always happy with the selection of kids menu. Today we got kids grilled cheese with tomato and kettle chips. Loved it! I got the make your own bowl with the Ahi tuna, mashed potatoes and kale Caesar. The bowl also comes with quinoa/ rice and a ponzu sauce for the Ahi. Love this combo every time. We also have had the pizza, which is also deliciously cooked in the wood fire oven. Sugar cane soda fountain drinks and fresh teas are available. We also tried the Waffle with Nutella and blueberries for dessert , so good!!

I wanted something quick because I was lazy to make dinner. I went here because it was super close to Trader Joe's. I have recently been experimenting with being pescatarian so I tried the lemongrass tuna bowl. It came with seared tuna as seen in the picture along with carrots, radishes and grains. The sauces mixed well and the flavored all came together nicely. It's not as much food as chipotle but I do think it's better quality. The service was SUPER quick and easy. Also the actual restaurant was very cute with modern styled furniture. It was casual but still cute. They also have vegetarian and vegan options. I may have to go again to try another bowl!

    Salmon Caesar
    Leah L.

Absolutely terrible. I mean TERRIBLE! I ordered the salmon Caesar salad. The salad itself was dry and salty. Yes, SALTY. I think the salt must have absorbed all the dressing because it was bone dry. And the salmon was even drier than the greens. Thin, dry, and completely tasteless. It was closer to a piece of cardboard than a piece of salmon. Absolutely awful all around. I gave 2 stars because the staff was friendly and they refunded me without issue. I cannot even recall the last time i sent food back, I just don't do that. That should tell you how bad this salad was. I also got the cucumber mint lemonade which was tasty and refreshing. I won't be back.

Modern Market reminds me a lot of Panera but better food. If you are wanting to eat healthy and get fast and convenient food this is your spot. I got the bbq beef sandwich and the beef was tender and super flavorful. The service was quick and they also have bowls and salads. A great place to grab a quick healthy bite to eat.

Their burger is easily one of the best I've had in Austin, especially paired with their thin, crispy fries. It's my go-to order almost every time. One thing I love is that they switch up the steak portion of the menu a few times a year, and it never disappoints. Right now they have the steak au poivre, which is incredible, although I'm still craving their steak frites and hoping it makes a comeback. The escargot and French onion soup are also favorites of mine. At this point, June's has become a staple in our house--usually with a couple of Diet Cokes and either the burger or whatever steak they're featuring. A few of my friends swear by the chicken sandwich (fair warning: it can get a little messy!), the half roasted chicken, and the tuna crudo, so you really can't go wrong no matter what you order. On top of the amazing food, the staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming, which keeps us coming back. I definitely recommend making a reservation since it tends to get pretty busy, especially during peak hours.

My biggest issue started before I even got seated. There is a QR code that you're required to use to join the waitlist/queue, but this is not clearly communicated on their website. You essentially have to arrive at the restaurant and figure it out once you're there. For a restaurant that is known for having long waits and high traffic, I feel like this information should be clearly stated online so people can plan accordingly. Once I joined the queue, I was number 43 and ended up waiting about an hour and a half before being seated. I understand that popular restaurants can have long wait times, but the lack of transparency about how the process works made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Once inside, the ambiance was actually quite quaint and charming. That said, considering how much traffic this restaurant gets, I was surprised by how limited the space is. I honestly think expanding the property would make a huge difference, although I understand that may not be entirely within their control. One thing I will give them major credit for is the menu. Online, the selection makes it look somewhat limited, but once you're there, they actually have 50+ food options, so there is plenty to choose from. That was definitely a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, my entrée was disappointing. I ordered a shredded beef taco with salsa and substituted a side salad. The beef was extremely tender, but unfortunately, it was also very dry. The salad was another disappointment because the vinaigrette was honestly not good. I don't think I've ever had a vinaigrette that I actively disliked until this meal. Thankfully, my fiancé had a much better experience. He ordered an enchilada and said it was one of the top five enchiladas he's ever had, so clearly there are some standout dishes on the menu. That definitely made me curious about trying something different if I ever return. I also really enjoyed that they offer hibiscus tea. I was very happy to see it on the menu, although I personally think it would be better served on its own rather than incorporated into one of their mixed drinks. The drink itself was just okay, but the hibiscus flavor was great. Overall, I can see why this place has become an Austin staple, but I think the experience could be improved significantly by making the waitlist process much clearer online and by improving the consistency of some of the food. The menu has a lot of potential, and clearly, some dishes are excellent! Unfortunately, mine just wasn't one of them.
