The service here is horrible. They totally messed up our breakfast order. They forgot cheese on one breakfast sandwich, forgot our side of bacon, and gave us cold potatoes. When I wanted to get coffee there was not even a coffee pot. I let them know and they did not seem happy to help. They finally have me coffee and when I went back for a refill there was no coffee again and no half and half. Keep in mind the place was empty. They need better management. Last week I ordered the green chile chicken soup. I order the quart size. There was no chicken but one single piece of dried chicken breast. Modern Market scheduled with me to come and deliver some tasting items to me and work colleagues this week. They brought a variety of sandwiches and a large yummy salad with feta cheese, strawberries, mixed greens, almonds and a champagne vinaigrette. We also tried their bagged sweet potato chips and their purple Vandalia chips, both cooked with coconut oil. Everything was super delicious and fresh and healthy! This place has such great potential, and some of the dishes are really yummy (some of them are just mediocre). But we've had issues almost every time we've ordered delivery (through Door Dash). There have been several times they've left off avocado or meat we've paid extra to add, or even forgotten the dressing or a topping that is included in an entree. Today my pork bowl was missing dressing (soooo dry), missing avocado, and had raw onions instead of pickled. We also ordered the corn/bacon pizza and 1/3 of it had neither corn nor bacon. I really wish we had something like this where I live, near Boston. Bacon & corn pizza was just out of this world, so good with the creme fraiche base. Omg. Pepperoni pizza was great. Fresno mint salad was so fresh and loaded with veggies & goodies. Kombucha was great. But maybe the best thing of all---Our cashier/advice giver/food bringer, Marissa. She was simply delightful. Such a kind soul, and so helpful and informative. And she gave me a free GF chocolate chip cookie...best one I've ever had, no lie! But seriously, this girl made my day. I came in and ordered a steak sandwich (which is delicious by the way) to go and included a few special instructions (no cheese etc..) Once I got in my car and started driving I had to suddenly brake causing my food to fly open and spill on the floor. Everything looks good and fresh in the pictures but when we got our food, I could not believe how terrible it looked, first my "grass fed beef" came de cold and looked old, then they replace it with what they called wild caught salmon, but it was clearly not. The trashy looking girl with the bright red paint in her hair and nostril ring is the worst. She just gives you dirty looks when you approach her. I had a mistake with my order and she was so nasty (in appearance and disposition) that I just wanted a refund. She looks dirty and I don't want my food handled by her. The manager that refunded my money was also extremely rude. I also don't like that on other occasions when I order a salad, remove a topping, and pay extra to add additional toppings the employees take it upon themselves to remove toppings. I could not swallow most of the food from the Modern Market. I ordered the salmon with a side of mac and cheese, and roasted veggies. I had to spit out some of the vegetables and I could not eat the broccoli because it was burnt and disgusting. The salmon was also uneatable, it was dry, flavorless, flakey, and old smelling and tasting. I would not give this place a try, if your trying to be super healthy that can easily be done without destroying a meal. Hopes this helps you save a few bucks. read more

I've tried Modern Market twice now, and I'll definitely be coming back. The most important factor in this has honestly been the amazing attitude and service of the staff. Everyone from the person who takes your order to the cooks in the kitchen are smiling, helpful, and having fun. They'll happily offer you advice on what to try and I encourage you to take their suggestions. Now what really matters is the food, and sadly that's the only thing keeping Modern Market from being a 5/5 for me. The concept is amazing and the ingredients in every dish are clearly fresh and well prepared. Unfortunately, I had repeat issues with the main dish I wanted to have. - Garlic Mashed Potatoes: simply amazing. Lots of garlic flavor, with the perfect mashed texture. These still have chunks and even more importantly potato skins in the mash! This is a perfect example of the quality work that goes into your food. - Chocolate Chip Cookies: just grab a handful by the register. They're a dollar or less each and are possibly the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever eaten. I will come back just for these. - Pizza: I've tried both the pepe and the sausage/onion and unfortunately they both suffered from the same problem: soggy crust. Full disclaimer: I got both orders to go, however I live less than 5 minutes away and tried to eat it immediately upon reaching home. I don't know if this is possibly an issue with the box not being right for transport or if the pizzas are the same at the restaurant. What happens is the crust is great, toppings are wonderful, and then the middle 2/3 of the pizza becomes a swamp of thin, soggy crust that can't sustain even the cheese on top of it. Both times I found myself cutting away almost the entire pizza and air-lifting toppings to the crust for each bite. It was tasty, but certainly not a great pizza experience. - Green Chicken Chili: Good flavor, not spicy at all which I wouldn't expect it to be. Lots of chopped veggies, however my to-go cup had approximately 3 tiny pieces of chicken. I hesitate to call it a chicken anything, but that's what the menu says. As you can see, a bit of a mixed bag but again: the concept, staff, and overall effort will bring me back several more times to keep trying to either find my perfect items or help give them feedback to fix the pizza problems. :) read more
