Upon entering, I spoke with the receptionist who showed me the pricing menu for the price of an overlay. I noticed the price for a fill in and full set were the same $55+. The receptionist and I discussed this and I left with the understanding that the overlay, although not priced on the menu, would also be the same price. We then discussed cheaper options (powder, acrylic, gel). I was advised to then pick my color. I brought a color sample from a press on I'd previously worn. The receptionist brought me the gel colors similar to the provided sample. She mentioned that it had a "cat eye" look. I inquired about the pricing of the three gel colors palettes provided. I expressed that I wanted regular gel, nothing that would cost extra. She stated that the colors were gel polish at no extra price and that all three palettes were the same price. I picked what I understood to be a color. After my service, I was told my nails would be 70, which of course I questioned. Then I was informed that my toes would be 65. My pedicure tech was done and my nail tech was putting on a clear coat. I asked for the manager who explained you got a cat eye it's extra. I advised of the receptionist's conversation. The manager restated that the cat eye was extra. I simply said ok. To add to all of this my nails hurt. Hopefully, that changes. Misinformation or dishonesty. Either way. After two days searching for my inspiration pics, I came to see Suli, she thumbed thru the rather large collection of images and said; I Can Do That! They came out Perfect! Two things that stand out about Modern Nail Bar, One. They Have front desk assistance that check you in and help you pick out what you want to have done with 1 million choices you're gonna need some help! Lol the second thing I want to mention is that same set of front desk help also clean up and set up for the next client and that leaves your technician plenty of time to focus exclusively on you and your services. I can't count. I do have a third thing while receiving my service. My technician SULI had conversation with me instead of back-and-forth with her coworkers because that can be kind of unnerving and we're all used to that so that was a really nice touch as well. I'm literally sitting here now feeling pampered & relaxed. My daughter is getting her full set/gel & I'm getting the Classic Pedicure. Greeted & checked in by a quiet, but sweet young lady. They are busy & we had an appointment. They took my daughter quickly, but I sat in the massage chair for about 30 minutes before getting even water. No worries- massage felt good. So much so that I brought my partner here to get pedicures with me! Everyone here is very nice and professional. Love this place! I cane here for a Yelp Elite event and have been a patron ever since. What sold me? I couldn't believe 5 weeks later, my nails still looked pristine. Not a chip, not even a lift of any of my nails. I've never had that happen before. It's a little haul for me to come but we'll worth the drive. The interior of the salon is very spacious and clean. The chairs are very comfortable. The staff is friendly. Prices are pretty standard I'd guess for most places nowadays. I've been loving a good French lately, and I know that costs a bit more. I only get SNS. It's my fav. But they do it all. My daughter came with me today and got a polish change for her toes. They looked a million times better! One heads up, they do not take American Express. So bring cash or an alternative card. I also like that they have charging stations near the salon, and they are free. You can make an appointment or just drop in, but I've course I prefer having an appointment so I'm not waiting. As my nails continue to stay on the way they do, I don't see myself going anywhere else. I came here twice both times they displayed that they did not want to do my nails. I was meet with hesitation. The first time I came, I wanted a fill-in on my acrylics and I was told that I couldn't do that because I came from a different place. I said okay and was willing to get my nails removed and apply a full set because The nail said that I done the nails on my hand are located in Houston, Texas. Once I sat down, then I was told that it was okay, I can get a fill. This made me feel like they really just wanted me to leave. I came here today, two days later, for a color change because I got a color that didn't like. They questioned if I got my nails there, which I told them yes and then they proceeded to tell me unless I get a fill-in I cannot get a color change because once they take off the nail polish, they have to smooth it.... Then they said if it was clear acrylic I could get it but I got a nude pink acrylic... I have never been met with anything like this before over the years that I've been getting my nails done since I was 16 and I'm now 35. I've only been once so far but it was a really awesome experience. I made an appointment requesting Nancy or Anna (by referral). Anna was the nail tech who did my nails that day. She was friendly, professional, not super talkative but that didn't bother me at all. You can tell this salon cares about their clients. At first I was a little iffy about the colors chosen or recommended for my manicure but you really need to trust the process because I love them! The environment is very clean and it seemed chaotic when I first walked in and Anna didn't get started on my nails until 15 minutes after my appointment time but overall I was happy with my experience. I went, today, to get a gel manicure, and I didn't ask the price, because I get mine done in California, near San Francisco. The most I pay is 30.00, so I was shocked when she told me $40.00. I truly consider myself to be a patient person. But after three experiences of having to wait more than 45 minutes to receive service and having someone enter after me being serviced ahead of me has been enough for me to never return. I only came to this nail salon at the recommendation of a friend but I will also tell her of my experiences. The first occurrence happened and I was told that the reason it took me a total of THREE hours to get a full SNS set and a pedicure was due to the fact that they were short staffed and someone had called out due to a "family emergency". I understand things happen and emergencies are unplanned so I didn't complain. However, the second occurrence I had scheduled an appointment with Nancy for my nails and a pedicure with whoever was available. My pedicure was completed (well over 45 mins) and I was still waiting for Nancy to even begin my SNS nails. I was asked to move to a table for her to start my nails. I arrived at 4:45pm and didn't leave until 7:15. Again, I was there for almost 3 hours. Today was the last and final straw. I brought my niece who was visiting from out of town to get her nails done as a graduation gift and to get myself a pedicure. I sat in a pedicure chair with no soaking water and I was offered a beverage but it was never given to me. On top of that there were at least two people who came in AFTER me who were being serviced as I continued to wait. I was given the excuse that someone who was training would start on me soon when it became obvious that she was servicing clients out of arrival order. My niece was completely done with her full set nails and again no one had started anything on me. I sat there for well over 45 mins. No retribution offered. I was only asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment to come back for my pedicure and I said no I would not. This place may not feel my absence but trust me when I say the horrible customer service and their high prices are not worth hours of your time. read more

So far so good, my first visit was easy to schedule, and the person who took my call was super sweet. My pedicure was relaxing and the chairs are comfortable. It's a bright white environment which feels very clean, feels as new as it probably is. All the colors have a SNS, gel, and regular version so if you like a color you definitely have options, and they have a pretty good selection I might add. Mediocre at best. My manicure lasted less than 10 minutes with about 1 minute of arm massage. Pedicure was ok - the technician watched tv almost the entire time except when actually working on my nails. I signed up for an upscale pedicure hoping for a good leg massage but it was next to nothing. I won't go here again. I definitely miss my old salon in town. And the paint is already chipping, especially on my nails since the tech painted on polish with no time in between coats. I'd rather pay more for quality service. read more

On Sunday, April 7th around noon I had a TERRIBLE experience @ Modern Nail Bar. Sunday was my third visit, so please believe me, I tried. My visit on March 16th wasn't great either. I was overcharged by the manager's 15 year old daughter and was told that they wouldn't know when I'd get my money back. So instead, I just had them do more services to make up for what was taken. ($30/$35). Big mistake by the way. Please pay attention to what you are paying. Don't be afraid to ask. During my visit I felt bullied and talked about.The manager kept saying it's been 5 weeks, you need new set! Mind you, March 16th was approx 3 weeks ago, not 5. Each time I told them what I wanted. I'm simple, white tips. Nancy, who did my nails, did not want me saying one word to her about the thickness of my acrylic. She was so mean and rude, she was even aggressive with my hands at one point. PLEASE do not let her charm and small talk fool you. She made me leave the salon in the middle of getting my nails done. How on earth can you deny services because YOU get upset with the CLIENT'S REQUEST, I was completely shocked. She was hostile, loud and caused a HUGE scene because I told her I wanted my acrylic slightly thinner. I sat there and looked at her. I didn't argue back or say anything. I quietly left. She is a bully and is truly a horrible person who is prideful, money hungry with no class about herself. The prices by the way are the highest among the entire Buford/Gwinnett County area. I never had someone try and humiliate me the way she did. Nancy, there is no need to write a long response beneath my review. Please, just keep it because people who are passionate about what they do are not short tempered, agitated by requests, greedy nor would they ever treat someone the way you treated me. No professionalism. I'm reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. read more
