Exploring the exam room and smelling all the things.

We love Dr. Ehmann! She is kind and attentive and the staff is wonderful. They've completely modernized the system so all records are electronic, they match prices of competitors on meds for my pup. The office is really inviting now and I think even the office cats like it too. Dr. Ehmann started us on Prozac for my girls anxiety. She listened to our concerns and examined Lexi. After much discussion, we decided that the meds would be worth a try. Still in the phase of getting them into her system but Dr. Ehmann has been with us the whole time. She answered any and all questions we had about what we should expect and she's been very supportive. Although we loved the previous vet, we have really grown to love Dr. Ehmann and her staff. They are the BEST! I will always recommend Modern Vet Care to any and all Astorians that will listen.

I've been going to Oliver's Dog & Cat Clinic for the better part of the last 15+ years; from…read moreshortly after adopting my cat at 2 months of age at the nearby City Animal Care & Control Center to what is now sadly becoming his end of life care. The only breaks were when I moved throughout the boroughs. Oliver's sits in a cozy, casual storefront office with a small reception area in the front, two dedicated exam rooms; (one for cats and one for dogs), and a kennel area in the back. In normal times they ensure that the waiting area is never crowded and you're usually in a room within 5 minutes of arriving. Oliver's stayed open throughout COVID but instituted a policy of handing the pet over at the door and communicating by phone via the visit. There is a very colorful mural out front and subtle pet themed art inside. Dr. Coronato havs always great about discussing treatment options and pricing upfront to avoid sticker shock. With my older pet they have also helped to alleviate some of the stress of assuming a daily treatment regimen, which now includes IV fluids and thyroid medication. They provie the personal touch of always greeting me by name when I arrive, and Dr. Coronato will sometimes come out and chat with clients when things are slow. I would recommend Oliver's to anyone looking for a neighborhood vet.

My dog had an emergency and was bleeding from his ear. I called once I arrived at the clinic…read morebecause they don't allow walk ins. I explained that my dog's ear was bleeding and he needed to be patched up. I expressed a sense of urgency, but I was calm as it clearly wasn't a life-threatening emergency. The receptionist said that the doctor would not see my dog and referred me to a vet clinic three miles away! (Mind you, it was not busy and there was only one other pet-owner inside) The doctor then approached the front and I asked for at least a band aid. She didn't even glance at my dog, who is bleeding onto the ground, and said condescendingly "we don't use band aids on dogs". Gauze then, I asked - anything to help with the bleeding. She still refused. She expressed zero sympathy or care for a hurt animal standing in front of her. Dead behind the eyes. "Some vet you are", I said sarcastically. That really set her off - she's probably heard it many times before. She told me to screw myself and said she "doesn't want people like me" and slammed the door in my face. You can draw your own conclusions about what she meant by that. A woman walking by saw the interaction and took pity on me. She told me that it was a blessing in disguise because these people (meaning Oliver's Clinic) are crooks who will rip you off and don't care one iota about your pet. She then told me about another clinic, Ideal Pet and Vet, one block away. I thanked her profusely and went to the other clinic, which treated my dog with care - the way a normal clinic should aspire to do. It's truly shocking how horribly my pet and I were treated by Oliver's. They didn't care about me or my hurt pet at all. I have no idea why one would be a veterinarian if one seemingly has no desire to help animals. Terrible place; terrible human.

The time she had us at was neither the original nor the updated time - in fact it was hours later. She ignored when I showed her my appointment receipt showing that I was there at the right time. When I tried to show her again to get some type of acknowledgement, she harshly said "i saw it the first time." 0 apology for getting my appointment wrong and 0 solutions provided outside of waiting hours and hoping we can get seen earlier. She really made us seem like it was our fault and we should be grateful to her for trying to "fit us in". I can understand a scheduling error, but don't gaslight us to make it look like we're the problem. Any employee with even an ounce of sense would at least apologize for the mistake and give us a solution that doesn't involve waiting hours for the wrong appointment time. I can't speak for the veterinary services here, but the lady who works the 9 AM shift on Fridays lost this business a client. I have never seen that bottom tier level of service, and I was honestly floored by it. No way I'd feel comfortable with my pet being in their care if that's who they are hiring or how they are training their staff. My only regret was that I never got her name so I could lodge an official complaint.

it is a nice place . just be smart and think before you agree to expensive tests and procedures …read more they may not be needed. i never argued about the costs , was always happy to pay whatever is needed to make my cat healthy , but when I was hit with a huge bill ( after I asked for the estimate three times , was promised it and never got it until after I surrendered my cat for the procedure ) I realized I need to be careful and not so trusting here. I loved this place until this experience.
