Stop and Read! I decided to take my dog to this veterinary clinic. She suddenly couldn't walk and my husband and I decided to take her to this clinic. My dog has been healthy her whole life. Vaccines, pills, everything was done every year. After doing some research, we decided on this place. Well! We brought our dog. The receptionist was very nice and the vet technician, that is why the two stars. We explained everything to the technician, she wrote everything, she was very friendly. She left to get a veterinarian. Hum! She presented herself, proceeded to do the examination. First the eyes, and then the body. It was a simple check-up. She said that the dog was not paralyzed (without x-rays) (she never offered x-rays) and that she would prescribe some pills. She said because of the dog's age, it's probably arthritis and one tooth was broken, but that was not important for now. The veterinarian continues the conversation, saying she wants to focus on trying to get the dog to walk again. Then she says, "Because it's a big dog (pitbull). If the pills don't work," she recommends being euthanized after one month because it's too difficult to deal with a big dog. If the dog was a small breed it would be less difficult, and she wouldn't recommend being euthanized. My husband was shocked. At the moment, I didn't realize how inhumane and unprofessional the veterinarian was to recommend euthanizing at the first appointment just because the dog CAN'T WALK ! I think she chose the incorrect profession. I took my dog to the veterinarian looking for options for my dog to get better, and the first option was to KILL HER ! How in the world are you going to recommend euthanizing the first time you see a dog? The dog is fine ! All the analysis was perfect! She couldn't even do her JOB! She had one job! Help us with our dog. We paid, because money is not an issue. The issue here is that this clinic needs to fire this veterinarian and get one that actually loves animals. Thank god my husband analyzed the situation and we took our dog to another veterinary. Do yourself a favor and keep looking ! Don't come here! read more

I do not trust this place whatsoever! They don't care about your pet, they only care about how much money they can get you to spend and it's disgustingly obvious. I brought my dog here a few weeks after moving to the area - we are actually new to the state, so I knew some things might be different... However, I was extremely surprised to see a few different signs posted all over their office declaring that they will no longer be filling online prescriptions placed via Chewy (or other similar websites) as it "takes too much time for their staff to deal with these when they instead need to focus on the people coming in". This is absolute garbage - the receptionist was playing on her phone half the time I was sitting in the waiting area and the phone didn't ring hardly at all while I was there. Regardless, I was most upset that this new policy was set to go into effect THE NEXT WEEK... Had I known this when booking my appointment, I never would've booked it because we have always ordered my dog's meds online via Chewy. So that was the first red flag. The next red flag came when my dog was being seen. I briefly mentioned to the vet that his ears were very full of gunk during our 10-day road trip to move to NYC, but they've been better since we got here and settled down. I was merely asking if it could've been allergies that caused this or the fact that he was being exposed to a bunch of different plants in a short amount of time while traveling. Instead, she decided that he needed his ears to be test ($50) and said that if it comes back bad, he'll need medication (more $$) AND possibly a cleaning which would also cost more money. I was angry. This is NOT what I was expecting... I literally told her that his ears are fine now and was asking for her "expert" opinion as to what could've been the cause. I left this first visit with a total of almost $500 spent, which was waaaay more than I was initially expecting. However, the follow up visit was the actual worst. It started out with them not letting me into the office, even though it was HOT outside and I have a pug - a breed that is known for overheating and dying from it. The vet tech told me I had to wait outside, to which I refused due to the concern of my dog. So I'm immediately irritated before anything even started. When we finally get put into the room, I asked the vet tech about the voicemail they left regarding the urine sample results. He couldn't seem to give me an answer to my question, so he brought in the vet to answer my question. Well, she couldn't answer it either!!! Then she proceeded to try to tell me that his PH balance in his urine is below average, so he needs medication for it.....HOWEVER the computer screen was open and I literally saw both his PH number and the number that should be of concern - his number was in the "safe" zone. At this point, I've lost all faith in this place. I only brought him back because he had gotten a required vaccine here on his first visit and needed to come back for the second dose to complete it. Otherwise, I would've never stepped foot back into this place. The icing on the cake was that the receptionist was SO RUDE to me when I was checking out. It was the final straw and her terrible attitude towards me solidified that I will never return. Whoever owns this place needs to reevaluate both their staff and their priorities. The CARE of the pet should be of the utmost importance, which has been demonstrated time and time again that this is NOT the priority here. Additionally, the front desk staff should not be disrespectful towards the people paying to bring their pets here. If you care about your pet, STAY AWAY from this place! read more

I am a new client to VCG Astoria. Former client of Dr Pet MD (loved Dr Monaco, wishing her the best). Been here twice so far for my senior dog who will be getting the rest of his teeth extracted. He has also been showing signs of CCD/dementia. My experiences here have been great, especially considering the stress involved. Dr Silverman and Dr Udoji are both amazing. I can see that they, and their team, are very compassionate and empathetic. Everyone there has taken their time to listen to me and my concerns, has taken their time with their feedback, and I am appreciative of the follow up with suggestions for supplements, and providing information about test results. I don't really ever do reviews, but I just had to for this place. I just got a new puppy and brought her here for her first ever vet apt. The staff was so nice and kind (I think Dr. Silverman? and vet tech Angela?), the names could be off, but either way they were all so nice and kind and I wanted to try and give a shoutout to them if I could. They made both me and the pup feel so comfortable and explained everything to me as a first time dog parent. The vet was so down to earth and kind. I have been a long-time customer, and while I believe all the vets and staff here try their best, I have some concerns about how my situation was handled in relation to my pet's care. Back in July or August, my cat was diagnosed with diabetes, and his regular doctor prescribed a new oral medication called Senvelgo. He said he was not a fan of giving regular shots because you would have to give them twice a day. With the oral liquid, it is once a day. Fast forward to December 22, when he became very ill with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). I brought him in, and the doctor who examined him (a different doctor than the one he was seeing) expressed that she did not like Senvelgo because it lowers blood sugar but does not eliminate toxins from the body. She recommended either euthanasia or taking him to an emergency animal hospital. I was not willing to put him down, as I considered my cat a family member whom I raised since he was two weeks old. The clinic recommended Blue Pearl, so I took him there. The doctor who took my cat's information echoed the same concerns regarding Senvelgo and recommended dietary modifications along with traditional insulin injections for diabetes. I left my cat overnight for treatment, and the next morning, another emergency room doctor informed me that, in cases like this, my cat would require a specialist in Manhattan, as they were not equipped to handle such severe cases. She mentioned that he might need to stay in the hospital for 7 to 10 days, but she could not guarantee his survival. I couldn't bear the thought of him being poked and examined while in pain, so I made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him on December 23, 2024. This experience has been very traumatic for me, and it still affects me deeply. My cat's sister is dealing with what I call extreme grief with the loss of her brother as she paces back and forth around the house and yowls, I guess, trying to call her brother back. So this is another thing I am dealing with. What distressed me further was that this clinic did not reach out to check on my cat's situation. I had to call them to inform them of his passing, and the response I received was simply, "Yeah, I heard that." While I understand that people are busy, this response felt insensitive and unusual because usually, they call or text to find out how my pet is doing. I am hoping that by sharing my experience, I can help save other pets' lives, particularly those diagnosed with diabetes. Don't believe the hype about this drug. I also hope the clinic will think twice before prescribing this drug, or else they will have more pet deaths on their hands. I know for a fact my baby would still be alive if it were not for this drug that was prescribed to him. 1. Consider the more traditional methods to treat diabetes, such as dietary modification and insulin injections. There is a chance that pets can eventually go off medication. After doing more research and speaking to more vets I do not recommend you put your pets on the new liquid and pill form to treat diabetes. I Do not recommend SENVELGO. Please do your research. I wish I would have done mine, but I was desperate to save my fur baby's life so I thought this would be the best way. 2. It would be beneficial for the clinic to build stronger relationships with multiple emergency animal hospitals to have a clear plan for referring patients in critical situations. While I appreciate Blue Pearl, the constant reference to that emergency hospital was not equipped to help in my situation and they still charged me close to 5,000 dollars to tell me they can't help me the next morning. This wasted critical time for my pet who could have possibly survived. In addition the pricing is close to a specialists price. I work for one the strongest labor unions in the world, and the reason why we are the strongest is because we build strong relationships with multiple labor organizations working together as one. read more

I can't believe I'm writing this review, I've been very loyal to VCG for the last 4 years. I've spent thousands of dollars on my very sick and sensitive cat here and I must say their swinging door of doctors is ridiculous.. what's crazier is the doctors all advise VERY different things. Last year they actually misdiagnosed my cat and called me to tell me she had lymphoma. THEY TOLD ME MY CAT WAS GOING TO DIE OVER THE PHONE....All to be told 2 days later that was not what the labs said. UNHEARD of. They pushed a vaccine booster on my cat when I brought her in for being sick and having a UTI. you don't vaccinate an already sick animal. She has IBD and chronic GI inflammation and they told me that I had to give her the booster vaccine, while I cried to the nurse about my fears about her sensitive system and her having a bad reaction again... She has been sick more than she has been well the last 4 years. The "doctor" said she would be OK, it's fine. So now not only does my babygirl not feel well, but within 24 shes vomiting and itching her skin off... I didn't get the antibiotics for her UTI for 5 days after.. but they didn't even care that she was having a reaction or that she was sick and vomiting. I couldn't even get a callback, calling and emailing them nonstop. The vaccine clearly triggered a GI response and she wouldn't stop vomiting. So back on steroids which she had just finished being on for 3 months from another dietary incident. After taking my cat who's now not eating or drinking, back in for fluids and doctor intervention - they also gave her a cerenia and steroid shot ... but now the doctors ordered more of the same tests we did 2 weeks prior.... When I mentioned I just did these tests the nurse said she would tell the doctor. (It's so small you can hear them chat less that 5 feet away) the doctor said "oh she did? It's ok let's do them again" after receiving this vaccine she had her first diagnosis of pancreatitis which she did not have the day I brought her in and they forced this shot. The labs and bloodwork PROVE this. THEY DONT KNOW OR CARE TO KNOW YOUR ANIMAL. My cat has a luxating patella and cannot receive shots on her right leg or she literally cannot walk. Guess what, they continuously gave her shots on that leg. She got a hematoma from them trying to take urine for a urine analysis. I don't even belive she got the IV the last time she went in. She's a Sphynx and you can usually see how plump her skin looks after, she did not. She wouldn't even get out of her carrier when I brought her home because they gave her a steroid shot in her good leg. (AGAIN) This is something I've said before EVERY visit and every shot, how can they be so negligent??? I have 89 pages of history with this fucking vet. I can't even go into all the things that went wrong over the years BUT I know they saw my love for my cat and truly took advantage of my inability to say no in hopes of helping her. I would do ANYTHING to help my babygirl. They took advantage of that. After this last time, I had to take her to EMERGENCY where she stayed over night. The doctor was appalled at what I told her about what had been going on at VCG. STAY AWAY IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL. Staaaaaay far awaaaaaaaaaay !!!!! read more

I initially had a good experience during my first visit to this establishment. It was easy to get an appointment on short notice (possible red flag) and the staff seemed friendly & caring. Up until I told them I had a budget (which they did not even attempt to stay within). I appreciate they accept CareCredit, but I brought my cat in for antibiotics to treat a UTI and nearly $800 later the doctor informed me that he has diabetes and needs expensive treatment that I kept insisting I cannot afford as I am on a fixed income. The two phone conversations I had with the doctor were extremely upsetting as I care greatly for my cat and was made to feel that my financial situation was putting his life in jeopardy and that I was not acting quickly enough. I ended up taking him to another local vet for a second opinion for a fraction of the exam fee that I paid here and was informed he does not need the expensive treatment this doctor was insisting on, but a simple prescription diet. I was also advised I had been vastly overcharged for the bloodwork that was done here. I am grateful that my cat's UTI has cleared up, but I will not be returning to this Veterinary office. read more

I found this place on Yelp and decided to make an appointment. They have a special going for $20 a visit -I think it's originally $60. I made an appointment over the phone. They called me a day prior to confirm. I arrived with my pup and they immediately greeted me and my dog. The lady behind the reception desk was super friendly and nice. My dog kept whining and she even offered to bring him water. They brought us into a small room. I met one of the nurses and she was super sweet. She informed me my dog was approaching his "senior" years which made me sad. She told me she has 5 pets (one being a 17 year old cat) and that made me feel at ease. You know you're at a good place when the people who work there actually love and raise animals. Long story short, my dog needed some vaccinations and they were very gentle and patient with him. The vet looked young but she was very knowledgable and took her time with him. Very small establishment but great people! I'd definitely recommend! read more

I brought my two elder kitties here last year. I adopted them from a close friend who passed away. Unfortunately they had never received vet care before, so they needed a serious work up. Both kitties received excellent care. One unfortunately started to go down hill in June. This clinic fit time in to have him put to sleep and we're extremely caring and kind through the whole process. My other kitty is still kicking, and thriving. She had an emergency last week. I called for an appointment. They were booked up, but instructed me to take her to an emergency vet in Manhattan where she also received excellent care. The exam was quick but very thorough and I left feeling confident that I had a plan for maintaining my cat's health. My wife and I recently said goodbye to our 14-year-old beagle, Artie. We were his 2nd owners, and had him for 8 years. For most of that time, his primary care was at Maspeth Animal Hospital. His first vet (Dr. Raider) retired, the next (Dr. Anilionis) left to practice elsewhere, and then Maspeth Animal Hospital became a Veterinary Care Group location, where we met Dr. Sanabria. We never had a single complaint, and all of those doctors took good care of Artie over the course of 7+ years. And then, in May of last year, we noticed some symptoms of stomach problems that had us concerned enough to want to book an emergency appointment for Artie ASAP. The Maspeth and Forest Hills locations didn't have anything open soon enough, so we looked into other options, and booked an appointment here. We were so happy with that first appointment, where my wife met Dr. Silverman for the first time, who actually took the time to come outside to help her collect a urine sample. Little did we know then we would be seeing a lot more of him and the VCG staff throughout the year... During that first visit, a mass in Artie's spleen was discovered, resulting in a recommended follow-up ultrasound, and a few weeks later, a splenectomy. Electing to have major surgery done is never easy, and throughout the whole process (including the surgery itself, and post-surgery care), Dr. Silverman took great care in explaining everything we needed to know to make an informed decision and manage expectations. The surgery itself went well, and a post-surgery infection was treated immediately as an emergency appointment (during which I was even allowed to be in the room). As well as everything had gone up to that point, and as great as everyone has been during Artie's last 2 months, I can't write this review without bringing this up, and any staff reading will know exactly what's coming: After nearly 2 weeks of waiting for the results of the spleen biopsy, to learn whether or not Artie had hemangiosarcoma, we finally received a call we never could have imagined... The lab (who I will not name here) had "misplaced" Artie's spleen. (Yes, you read that correctly). I could type 20 more paragraphs about how that whole thing played out, but for this review, let's suffice it to say that Dr. Silverman and the entire VCG Astoria staff (including Agnes, the manager), went far above and beyond to fight like hell on our behalf until we finally got the results we needed and the good news we were hoping for. Fast forward a few months to late October, when we noticed what we (correctly) thought were enlarged lymph nodes in Artie's neck (+ 2 more near his hind legs). On November 3rd, we learned that this was indeed lymphoma, and after weighing our options, decided to move forward with palliative care. Along the way, we've had many concerns and questions, and even a few scares, and if you've read this far, you already know that Dr. Silverman and the rest of the staff took great care of us during that difficult time. On December 23rd, with the VCG offices closed for the weekend, Artie took a bad turn, and didn't improve on Christmas Eve. We brought him in to Blue Pearl in Forest Hills that evening, and he is now at peace. I can't thank everyone at VCG Astoria enough for always being there for us during those last 7 months of Artie's life. They helped us through the most difficult times of our 8 years with him, and did so with utmost professionalism, courtesy, and compassion. We don't hesitate for a second to give them our highest recommendation. read more

Moved here and was looking for a new Vet for my cat. They did a fantastic job giving her a first exam. She also needed dental care and Dr. Silverman did an excellent job explaining the procedure. Loved this team! They're practicing social distancing so they send the forms for you to fill out before hand and pet owners remain outside on the sidewalk during the exam. They came immediately outside to take my two cats inside and came back out to fill out the remaining forms. They were super quick and efficient, coming outside to keep me updated and then the doctor called me to discuss the exam results. They seem to really just love animals! The staff complimented my cats on how well behaved they were (thank God) and they gave so much adoration to the other animals that were dropped off. I felt super safe, Covid wise, because all transactions were done outside. Prices were super reasonable - $120 total for two wellness visits for the two cats. They were also super responsive by email and I feel that if I have any follow up questions or any general questions, they'd answer no problem. read more

I don't sense an up sell , nor is there is a sense of judgement, since we all tend to postpone regular checkups for our pets. This group is a complete 180 from the previous management/doctors. I was very excited to hear that this practice was allowing one adult with their pets now, as my dog experiences high anxiety when we go to the vet. When I arrived, however, I was dismayed to find out that they only meant I could stay in the waiting room, not go with my pet (it is the end of March 2022). My pet was distraught as usual and it was difficult to not be by her side. Additionally, I overheard Dr. Mu speaking with another pet owner in the waiting room. I was struck by his lack of empathy or "bedside manner" that I would expect a doctor to have. As they were talking about her dog's cancer and other ailments, Dr. Mu was rushed and unsympathetic to her concerns. Additionally, it was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable to be privy to a conversation like this. My dog was brought out to me and I was told that the doctor would be out to explain the stain under her eyes. I found it weird that he would do a procedure without even discussing it with me or getting my consent, but I dismissed it, thinking perhaps he just made markings on her face. Later, when he came out, we discussed my private information in front of a full waiting room while another woman was speaking loudly to the receptionist. I became frustrated, so I expressed my dissatisfaction with the policy directly to the doctor....and he told me that if I wanted to speak with him in private, I could do so. The audacity of him to be fine with my complaining in private-but put everyone else's business on display-was hypocritical and completely oblivious. He then told me that if he were to see visitors daily that he would be putting himself and his staff members at risk. I stated that I was happy to show my vaccine card, wear a mask the entire time and have my temperature taken to ensure his staff's safety. We also discussed how the numbers were declining, but he was unconvinced, saying that there are always "new strains with mutations." We both agreed that this practice was not for me and that we would part ways. Later, when I received my bill, it included a $60 bill for the stain. I asked him to explain this charge to me because he had not discussed this with me nor received my consent. When I confronted him about this charge, he told me "You will pay it" in a threatening manner before leaving and slamming the door. This points to a larger issue of how Dr. Mu views his job. In my opinion, given his bedside manner (or lack thereof) and rushed operations, it felt more like Dr. Mu was not lifting this policy so that he could do his job more quickly and without patient interference. This allows him to do whatever, and charge whatever, leaving the clients to deal with the aftermath. I am the owner of a senior dog-and I spend a lot of money on her health. But I will no longer trust a place of operation who hires people who have very little compassion for the animals they treat. Dr. Mu was offensive, incompetent (he tried to put eye drops in my dog's eyes three times before realizing he had the cap on), and downright rude. I hope you find the right vet for your pet, but this is not the one. read more

VCG Forest Hills recommended I get the pre-testing done at the Astoria location because it was closer to me - an appreciated recommendation. To the business owners response to my initial review: I received one call/voicemail asking about how my dog was feeling from her vaccine. This was the day after her visit. Then I received a text asking the same thing about a day or two after that. No one ever contacted me referencing this review. And what is there to discuss? If the price I was charged was incorrect, feel free to issue a refund. If the price is the price, it doesn't change my initial review of your routine charges. And what will a call do to remedy the fact that your staff is clearly disorganized and almost caused my dog to go many months without its proper immunization? If there was only one mix up with the dates, that would be fine. We spoke on the phone and I corrected them. But to have it happen one or two more times? Clearly your staff didn't update the file correctly the first time we spoke, and then went on to mess it up a few more times. You bunked it up. Admit it and move on. One star, all day. read more

If I could rate a zero I would. Was mislead by the vet and told I could return the following day - no room in the schedule to do the procedure I was told would be available. Later the receptionist even told me that the facility didn't have the means to do the procedure anyways, so not only was the schedule incorrect from the vet but the procedure couldn't even have happened. Couldn't find care fast enough and my cat died. I can't emphasize enough how devastating this entire process was and that this vet clinic played a key part in the ordeal. read more

This is a long overdue review of this place. I am a native of the area and have had my share of vets who are only out for the money. This place actually really cares about your pets. My cat Warrior had UTI problems for years and for years other vets in the area just kept on giving him meds that did not work which led to his kidney disease. This place solved the UTI issues and the kidney disease symptoms seems to have subsided. All the doctors and staff are great here My cat nows sees Dr. Silverman who is amazing with my Warrior. You will not be disappointed going here and know this place cares. read more

Dr. Ling and the entire VCG team are amazing! Very kind, transparent, and not at all pushy. They are not money-hungry like other vets I have used in the past. In my experience, they have been accommodating and very pleasant to work with. Dr. Ling always calls after a visit to check up on Maximus, my Frenchie puppy and is very knowledgable about the breed. They are also able to respond to questions and photos via email if you cannot make it in for an appointment. Really liked this place....loved the doctor and the technician. I have recommended them to every who asked in person and on social media. But My baby was there a few months ago and with a ear infection which he has had recurring for a while and it came back so I tried buy the last ear drops prescribed online ,put all the office information in for them to approve and they denied it and called me to come in for a visit..... I thought they were different from the last vet in their location who they took the business from... but not it's all about the money... Time to find a new vet I appreciate your response but I don't feel comfortable coming back ....I will have my new vet request my records.... read more

Update: Really really great staff. Extremely patient and caring to my pet. I really cannot be happier i found this veterinarian close to me. Dr. Ling really is a great and caring vet. I also saw Dr. Yu, she was extremely nice and gentle with athena. But my dog seems to prefer Dr. Ling. They honestly are both great vets. Its really a breath of fresh air to see that the veterinarians actually love animals. If your looking for a vet that cares and isnt out to bait your for your money. You found the perfect place. It's clean its new. Its deserving of your business. The really have exceeded my expectation of a vet clinic and i can honestly say i would be a regular here. This new vet opened up in the neighborhood a month or two ago. I went yesterday and i saw Dr. Ling she was super sweet and informative and definitely took her time to explain what could be going on with my pet. Im also not fond on vets offering Xrays and sonograms as solutions since i had a bad run with another vet around this neighborhood. Im thankful to have them since I've been searching for a doctor close to home. I love my primary care doctor but he's always full and just too far. The doctor also called to make sure that my dog is doing well and make sure there have been no changes. I definitely will come again to make sure the place is the right fit for my dog, but i have a warm feeling about them. This is the nicest clinic in neighborhood. Their office was clean and had refreshments, a pleasant surprise and change of air compared to other veterinarians in the neighborhood. read more

Called VCG in a panic after taking my dog to a doggy daycare and realizing she didn't have her Bordetella vaccine. When I called our usual vet group, she quoted me $115 including a visit fee, even though I had specifically asked that she be vaccinated for it the last visit. I hopped on google and found VCG. I called and spoke with Maria. She was so understanding and spoke with the vet, saying they could give me the vaccine and waive part of the visit fee for a fraction of what my usual vet group charged me. She was able to set me up with an appointment within the hour. The Vet gave me a full exam for free, did not charge me any visit fee and just for the vaccine. He was knowledgeable, understanding, discussed my dogs health without being pushy about extra services. He truly just wanted me to be an informed dog parent. 10/10 going again. read more

They have a new administration!! They're all super awesome, such a neat place, no wait, extra nice, they're all very knowledgeable. I had to get a Health Certificate for international travel, got it on Tuesday, I got it endorsed today, they literally gave me all the information step by step, made it SO easy. I was lucky enough to get myself a kitten straight from the street. Long story short that poor baby saw way too much for his young age. He needed a vet ASAP. At first I made an appointment to the clinic which was next to my house, thinking that this could be my best option. The woman at that clinic was a total b#$ch and later on she cancelled us on a very last minute. And that is how I decided to make an appointment with THIS clinic. Not only the girl on the phone was super friendly, but she also gave me multiple tips on how to keep my cat (including myself) calm before and during the visit. On the day of the visit, every girl working on the clinic were beyond helpful and understanding with our situation. The doctor herself is a sweetheart. On top of everything they also always support you on the phone with the text messages and emailing in case you have any questions. My overall conclusion is: yes, the clinic is slightly further (in my case at least.) yes, it is pricier that majority BUT! You seriously get what you pay for. After all, dont you want for your furry thing to be treated the way he should? Warm and caring? Im staying in this neighborhood literally just for them! read more

We recently adopted our 10 week old puppy and were searching for the best Veterinarian for her in Astoria. From the reviews, we decided to check out VCA - Astoria and we were not disappointed! From our first call inquiring about the vet to when we dropped her off for her first visit, we felt like our puppy was in great and knowledgeable hands. They take COVID very seriously so we were not able to be in the actual vet's office during her appointment, but the Vet called us and shared everything from the visit over the phone. Just had an unexpected visit here today when we woke up and found our cat had vomited all over the place. They got us in quickly and checked him out, they're still following curbside protocol so we had to wait outside but they kept us updated the whole time while they checked him out. After the exam Dr. Silverman came out and showed us the X-rays and walked us through it. Fortunately he's fine (diagnosis was he's a cat and he ate something not edible) but we really appreciate how smooth the whole operation was. read more

Our 4-month-old puppy, who we picked up last weekend from a dog rescue organization, had her first veterinary visit on Friday. Prior to the visit we had substantial communication with the office and they even called me back and answered all of the questions I had put into an email. When we arrived for the visit we were greeted outside by the nurse, who was very kind and very gentle with our puppy. We were able to observe and participate in the entire visit by video conference. Dr Yu kept us informed throughout the visit, answered our questions, and provided a great deal of useful information. From start to finish this was a first-rate experience. read more

I cannot recommend Veterinary Care Group enough. Everyone at this practice is so kind and caring, and their love for animals truly shows in everything that they do. My beloved dog, Jojo, became very agitated and anxious over the last few years, but everyone here treated him with nothing but patience and love. He recently passed away, and Dr. Yu and the rest of the staff showed the utmost compassion and care during an incredibly difficult time. Brought my kitten here after bringing it to Astoria Veterinary Group. I had such a horrible experience with them, that's why I decided VCG. They're pretty affordable and they also gave my kitten a free nail trim! They were super sweet and the doctor was also very informative! Will def be coming here again! read more

I don't wanna be TOO harsh. Took my dog her once. She is 17 but you would NEVER know it. I've been a vet tech and worked in several vets offices so I kinda know my stuff and she has been very well taken care of. First of all, they tried to do unnecessary blood work. She is on pain meds that do need blood work, but not as often as they were suggesting, especially for a dog her age. They heard a heart murmur (which we did get a second opinion on and it is being taken care of) and they suggested 3 separate procedures that they can't do in office which would result in a massive bill. All 3 were not needed, just an echocardiogram would do the trick. I felt like they just wanted more and more money with no exact plan or "bedside manor." We now travel a ways but have found a much less expensive office with a much higher level of care, compassion and straightforward-ness. read more
