My husband and I went here yesterday for the 1st time. We ordered and got a #. Our food was to our table within minutes. Very friendly staff. Nice bar. Clean environment. He ordered a small rack of ribs, cornbread, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. He said the ribs were super dry and not very good at all. I ordered a BBQ sandwich, Mac and cheese, and sweet potato casserole. The sandwich was about room temperature, not very warm, and a little dry. I loved the Mac and cheese, my husband said it didnt have enough flavor. The sweet potato casserole looked like a bowl of cereal and was okay. So overall the atmosphere was nice, there was a lot of room for social distancing, and it was a clean environment. The food was okayish ... I wouldn't go back though. read more

We ate here at the recommendation of some local friends and it was a winner! We'd had a long day and hadn't eaten since 2:30. We finally got to sit down and order food after our travels at 9. We were starving but the food really was yummy. Love that they get the food locally sourced and have rotating daily specials. I got the fried catfish and YES it was as promised but not always delivered. Perfectly crusted in a mix of cornmeal and seasonings, deep fried and golden brown, sweet and succulent inside. I wasn't too impressed with the skillet corn - I thought I was getting cornbread, which was included, but instead it was corn off the cob with sausage. Tasty but not what I wanted. The cucumber and tomato salad was better but still not great. The cornbread though was delicious! This was our first time here while in Rome. This was a really nice place with some really good food and service. I ordered a bbq plate and the wife ordered the shrimp. Everything was very good and not to expensive. The wife ordered some banana pudding as well and liked it. They offer lots of beer and other drinks as well. The first thing we noticed was that the floor was extremely sticky. My shoes were sticking to the floor as I walked in. The person taking the order was very nice. We ordered and then picked a table. They give you a number and someone delivers the food to your table. Two of us ordered the ribs and one ordered a pulled pork sandwich. We waited a long time for our order. When it finally came the ribs were cold. They weren't hot or warm, they were actually room temperature. The other person at the table said his were cold too. They weren't tasty. They weren't horrible. They were just room temperature ribs with very little flavor. I had potato chips and potato salad as my sides. The potato salad was good. The chips were delicious. The cornbread was horrible. Even my grandson who is a human garbage disposal wouldn't eat the cornbread. His pulled pork sandwich was okay he said. Walked into the smell of smoked meat. At 11:30 am place was already filling up. ThIs place has so much going for it. The service is great. It was the kitchen that let us down. We ordered Barbecue nachos, kids chicken strips with mac and cheese, a brisket platter with more ribs. Our sides were collard greens and skillet corn. When they brought out the Appetizer and Kids' meal everything looked great. But at first bite the nachos were cold. When the server checked back on us we told her and she Immediately went to get us fresh ones. When she brought them back they what a difference. But the pulled pork on top of the nachos was so lacking flavor and texture. My wife said I would order theses again but just without the pork. When I food arrived it looks great but other then the brisket the food was ok. The brisket and the service are the high points to the meel. The collard are sweet the corn tested like canned corn. tl;dr Great BBQ and the sides were awesome! Skip all the other Q places in town and just go to Mos While in Rome for the week our group managed to eat BBQ 3 different times at 3 different places. I had some at another joint and it was oven pulled pork which was okay. I kinda knew what I was getting into there because there wasn't a smoker. The other half of my group had ribs and pulled pork at another bbq joint and while that place had smokers they didn't have brisket and the bbq was meh. After commenting on this sad state of BBQ at the event we were all attending some other friends said they had great BBQ at Moe's when they have been in Rome in the past and were going to make sure to get more on this trip. So we had to give Georgia another chance to win us over. Well it was a good thing we did. The brisket was amazing and I was super lucky because I was the last one in our group to order and I got the last bit of brisket. Those burnt ends were amazing. The pulled pork was very tasty and their sauce was really nice. More a fan of their spicy than the sweet but both were good. The loaded BBQ chips were more than the four of us could eat but they were perfect to start things off. The sweet potato casserole was just like my mother-in-law makes. A great place and the deck was pup friendly so we were able to sit in the shade with the fans going to cool things off. read more

First time to Moe's. I was raised in Rome and back caring for my Mom. Needed some food on the way home and found Moe's on Yelp. Had the pork sandwich with baked beans and Mac & Cheese. And of course sweet tea to wash it down. All of it was excellent. Pork was juicy. It was pulled and not chopped. I prefer chopped, but I can be convinced. The sides were excellent. We have been living in Rome for almost 3 years and this is by far the best BBQ that is currently available. When Bonz & Gristle was still open they would have a slight edge mainly because they were almost walking distance from our house. I have only eaten at Moe's twice since it opened but both times have been excellent. The first time I had the pulled pork sandwich platter at lunch. The quality of the pork was really good and it was cooked to near perfection. I thought it could have been a bit smokier but on the whole it was a winner. The pickled coleslaw is a real winner. Lots of tang and really fresh and crisp. I really enjoy the way they prepare the cornbread. Again it is moist and really flavorful and before they put it on your plate they quickly brown it on the griddle and make it a bit crisp. On this visit with a party of four we ate at an outside table. The service was prompt and courteous. Recently I had the half chicken platter as a takeout and it was truly fantastic. Very juicy and perfectly smoked. I could have eaten myself sick with very little effort. I had the same sides that I had earlier with the pork platter and they were consistently excellent. Moe's isn't that far from our house and after placing my phone order I left almost immediately to go pick it up and it was hot, ready, and waiting when I walked through the door. I haven't tried any of the beers yet but they seem to have a very good selection of production and craft beers. On our first visit my brother tried one of the craft beers and was very impressed. Our first visit was shortly after they first opened (excellent location) and the business seemed to be very good in the middle of the day. When I picked up my takeout order it was around 6 PM and the place was pretty well packed so it seems they are pleasing a lot of people. I certainly plan on eating there regularly. read more

This place is so good, it makes me wish I lived closer. We found this place by recommendation from River Ratz Tubing & Kayaking. After kayaking 6 miles down the Etowah River we were pretty hungry. Our shuttle driver (the owner of River Ratz) suggested Moe's when we told him we like to skip the big chain restaurants. This was some of the best BBQ I've had in a while. I got a pulled pork sandwich plate that came with 2 sides and a drink. I chose Mac & cheese and banana pudding as my sides. Everything was DELICIOUS! My partner got a smoked wings platter and added some pulled pork on the side. He got beans and Mac & cheese as his sides. I had a few of his wings and again, some of the best smoked wings I've ever had. We even ordered a large banana pudding to go because it was that good. Next time we're in Rome I'd like to say maybe we'd try something else but I'm not so sure because Moe's hit it out of the park. I would give this place a 2.5 stars, but that's not an option and it just doesn't deserve 3 stars. All in all this place is just meh. Let's start with the positives... The decor. The establishment is wonderfully decorated with raw wood, field stones, and southern accents. For a barbecue joint the decor classy casual. The sides...at $6 per pint...The sides are the highlight of the menu. Wonderful Mac and cheese, though not a very consistent cheese sauce, more like chunks of melted cheese. Great baked apples, not too sweet and not baked to the point of becoming mushy like Apple sauce. The collards are perfectly cooked, and not overly salty. But at $6 per pint the sides better be great. Now for the true downfall of this restaurant. The barbecue.... The pulled pork is not very tender, lacks that slow authentic wood barbecue flavor, and is poorly seasoned. I have tried all of the four major types of barbecue, and some of the countries best and this honestly ranks in the bottom 25% of my barbecue experiences. The ribs, which cost $25 for a slab, are hands down the worst ribs I have ever had. The meat doesn't fall of the bone. I believe the only seasoning was an excessive amount of salt. I truly love salt and seek out rare varieties of this ancient seasoning, and this was more than I could tolerate. The prices. Wow, is their takeout expensive. Want to feed 4 people be prepared to shell out 40 or more dollars. For a pound and half of pork, 3 pints of sides and some cornbread you will pay $35. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want barbecue. Now if you like just the sides, this place is great. But if you want meat go anywhere else. read more

As a Roman, I loved that they chose a historical building that had been forgotten and brought it back to life. Tucked away near the flag bridge, this place has one of the best patios in Rome. Although most people go for lunch, my husband and I love to go to watch the game on a Saturday or Sunday. The fresh fries pig skins are a must, and if you think they sound gross, you are missing out. They are delicious with a beer. Also, they are famous for their smoked wings and white bbq sauce which can't be missed.
