I would give this place a 2.5 stars, but that's not an option and it just doesn't deserve 3 stars. All in all this place is just meh. Let's start with the positives... The decor. The establishment is wonderfully decorated with raw wood, field stones, and southern accents. For a barbecue joint the decor classy casual. The sides...at $6 per pint...The sides are the highlight of the menu. Wonderful Mac and cheese, though not a very consistent cheese sauce, more like chunks of melted cheese. Great baked apples, not too sweet and not baked to the point of becoming mushy like Apple sauce. The collards are perfectly cooked, and not overly salty. But at $6 per pint the sides better be great. Now for the true downfall of this restaurant. The barbecue.... The pulled pork is not very tender, lacks that slow authentic wood barbecue flavor, and is poorly seasoned. I have tried all of the four major types of barbecue, and some of the countries best and this honestly ranks in the bottom 25% of my barbecue experiences. The ribs, which cost $25 for a slab, are hands down the worst ribs I have ever had. The meat doesn't fall of the bone. I believe the only seasoning was an excessive amount of salt. I truly love salt and seek out rare varieties of this ancient seasoning, and this was more than I could tolerate. The prices. Wow, is their takeout expensive. Want to feed 4 people be prepared to shell out 40 or more dollars. For a pound and half of pork, 3 pints of sides and some cornbread you will pay $35. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want barbecue. Now if you like just the sides, this place is great. But if you want meat go anywhere else. read more

Holy Moe-ly! Moe's was amazing. We had a pulled pork sandwich and BBQ chicken, beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese and some of the tastiest beans ever. Can't wait to come back. Service was quick and prices were very good. Highly recommend. read more

One of our favorite places to go. Good atmosphere. Big fans of the Redneck Nachos and pork skins. This last visit both were incredibly salty, not their typical. I am visiting Rome GA and I found a great BBQ restaurant. The staff was very friendly and service was fast. The Pork BBQ was smoke very well with lots of flavor. The slaw was perfect, very fresh. Very impressed with this spot in downtown Rome. I ordered the ribs and they were incredible. Smoked chicken on the side was excellent too. I didn't get to try them but their smoked wings looked good (although maybe a little pricey at $1.00 each). Brunswick stew was great. Collards were good (maybe could have been cooked a little longer). Cornbread with peppers was excellent. Everything seemed fresh and home-cooked (nothing from a can). I came back to my hometown this weekend and discovered a new restaurant, Moe's BBQ. I'm very happy to see this building restored and remodeled beautifully. I wish I could have seen the fire place going. We ordered our food at the front, got our drinks, and then sat ourselves. The food was brought out pretty quickly. My friend and I ordered sides plates because we liked what we saw in the pictures on Yelp. Unfortunately they must have made some changes since those pictures because ours was different. The Mac and cheese was just okay. The cucumber and tomato salad was alright, and my peas and greens we're probably the best tasting item on my tray, and I added lots of hot sauce. I tried my dad's pulled pork and it was alright. My unsweetened tea was on point. I loved seeing the out door eating area, and I'd like to come back during the day to the bar (with a window to the outdoor side as well). I think the Charleston restaurant scene has really spoiled me so I am rating this place based on what Rome has to offer. This is a wonderful location, and beautiful building on the river. They also have an event space, and it looked really pretty, and would be perfect for a rehearsal dinner. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

This BBQ is well worth the drive from North Georgia. It is so difficult to find Texas style brisket and this Texas gal is so thrilled to have found this little gem! I've been really tough on BBQ over the last couple years, but Moe's gave me hope. I first had it at a catered Chamber of Commerce meeting and wanted to try the joint. I typically just have a smoothie on gym days but tried it anyway. It was worth it. The rib Sammy, collards, and rice and beans were great. My favorite BBQ in Rome. The pulled chicken sandwich as is, is really good. I go back for it consistently. Service is pretty good for a fast casual type setup. Waits are usually between 5-15 min for food after ordering. My only complaint is that their sides could be improved. The one we love is their house-made chips, but the others aren't great, which could be a preference too. Price though for what you get is a good value! read more

Pulled pork was average. (No beef on the menu.) But, they use a super cheap bun which fell apart the 3rd time I picked up the sandwich. Where is it written in the BBQ rules book that you must put very wet dill pickles on a BBQ sandwich? Baked beans were probably out of the gallon sized Campbell's version however, they added black pepper, chopped onion, green pepper, and cayenne pepper. Too spicy for my taste. Serve-yourself soda fountain - Coke products, but no Coke Zero. The bagged Lays Potato Chips were fresh. Nice decor and staff. Large, single-seat, clean ladies room. They have a good handicap ramp but you don't want to go in the rain. It's not real easy to get from the car to inside. The meal cost almost $10. read more

The food was good with a nice smoke flavor & dry rub on the ribs & brisket. The fries seasoned well & apple pie was a nice finish. I only rate it a 3 because the manager Warren was rude when I had my sandwich sent back because the menu nor cashier explained what is on the sandwich. If I had known, I would have made preparations. I explained to the waitress my issue, who gladly replaced it. Then Warren comes out to tell me that I told the waitress I wanted the sandwich with everything on it & continued to tell me I should check the menu next time before finalizing my order. I expected a lot more from this place after reading the reviews, but was highly disappointed. I went on Easter Sunday to pick up food for my family to eat at home. Nothing tasted right except for the BBQ. The mac n cheese was extremely salty, the baked beans seemed to have pickled jalapeños in them (which I have never seen before), and the cornbread tasted like a sugary cake. Huge portions and an interesting twist on their BBQ sauce. AK, Brandi, Samya, and Kaitlyn are some of the best bartenders around and make me never want to leave. Tip: go on Thursday nights.
