Quality of food has gone down over the years. Originally was a go to place for a quick bite to eat.

My second time at Swell Taco (I absolutely live for the good foodie finds in Babylon Village) was,…read morefor lack of a better word, *swell.* (I just had to do it, hehe.) We sat in their insulated outdoor area amidst string lights and beachy vibes, and every meal starts out with their addicting tortilla chips and salsa verde. (Pro-tip -- save some of this green salsa to have with whatever you order!) We tried their chicken flautas appetizer, and if you are a fan of all that is cheesy and crispy, you will definitely enjoy this one. My favorite item on the menu was next -- the Crunch and Munch ground beef taco -- this literally was an elevated version of Taco Bell's cheesy Gordita crunch, and it made me super happy. We also shared their shredded beef burrito (think barbacoa), which was a Saturday special, but honestly, any of their burritos would be worthwhile. (I dare say that the burritos also feel kind of light? They are not over-the-top in the best way possible!) If you're looking for a casual taco spot after a day at Robert Moses or Overlook Beach (or any day, really), definitely check this place out -- you will fall in love after the first flavorful bite.

They don't take reservations to my knowledge. I ordered two burritos to go on Cinco de Mayo & it…read moreliterally felt like I was eating a mashed potato burrito. FYI my bf and I got the big papa. I will say the drinks were good! Had to get a margarita on cinco de Mayo, duh. Definitely grab a drink here! it's a young, lively crowd...but if you're getting burritos, run.

I have eaten here many times with with friends and family and it is one of my favorite restaurants…read more We hosted my son's Baptism here this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect. We had the greenhouse room for about 30 people and it was so nice. The service was amazing, the staff accommodated my party in any way that was asked of them. My 101 year old grandmother was able to access the space with no problem. The food was incredible as always and I had tons of compliments from my guests on the choice of venue for the party. Will absolutely be back and would definitely host another party at Verde!

I went out for lunch with two friends for New Year's Eve lunch and, unfortunately, the food was…read morevery disappointing. I ordered a coconut mojito, but it tasted only like lime--there was no coconut flavor at all or any rum which would have been ok don't need it to be strong but tasted like you were sucking on a lime. Two of us ordered tortilla soup, which had no flavor! It didn't resemble tortilla soup at all. It was a thick, non-translucent broth with large chunks of carrots, barely any tortilla strips, and it was served lukewarm again - no flavor ironically the server said the soup of the day was spicy tortilla chicken soup, no spicy, no flavor, no bueno! One of my friends ordered a quesadilla with a side of rice. The menu described the rice as "toasted with garlic," but she said it tasted like plain steamed minute white rice with no seasoning. We ended with coffee and churros. The coffee arrived well before the churros, and when the churros finally came, three had cinnamon sugar and one did not at all. None of them were warm, and the dough inside was undercooked and raw. All three of us agreed that the food lacked flavor across the board. Thankfully, the company was great, which made the experience more enjoyable than the meal itself. Hopefully, this was just an off day for the kitchen, but overall it was a very disappointing lunch.
