Ambience is casual taco joint, and it was freezing inside. The service was ok- not friendly but not rude, but extremely slow because they were satisfying. Uber eats orders over a customers, and we were the only ones in the store. It took over a half an hour for two tacos and a burrito. Food was really good, tacos were fresh and the burrito was packed, mozzarella sticks were decent.... Took off a star for the wait time because it was beyond ridiculous. We arrived ar Taco Guacamole at 8:10 pm. My husband ordered dinner , and as we were about to order, a man came out of the kitchen and told the server, no more orders to eat in the restaurant! We were perplexed as the restaurant is opened until 9:30pm. They said , "well we already cleaned the dining room., you could order and just take out!". Well it was late already and we wanted to eat in as we lived a good half hour away! So we left. Don't think that is very good business. How much of a mess could 3 adults make at one table or the counter? And the way they expressed it, as if they could care less. The original shredded chicken burrito is by far the most simple but perfectly executed burrito everytime. The green sauce is outrageous. This place does NOT get the credit they deserve. My family has been coming for years. On top of all the staff is so kind so accommodating i love the service at the counter. I can't recommend this place enough. I can't rave enough about how good this place is. They make the most delicious food of this kind - there is no comparison anywhere else in NY. Using Taco Guacamole as the comparison, Taco Bell is the bottom of the pit. I have tried a few other places but have to admit, I've never found anything even close to comparable. Taco Guacamole is very good. The amount of food you get for the price is great. I've had the large grilled chicken quesadilla and it's enough for two people. It's so big it comes in a pizza box! I've lived in Islip over 20 years and have never been to Taco Guacamole. A friend gave me a gift certificate so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Volcano Burrito and was grateful to have the option to order a small or a large. I usually can't eat a whole burrito. So this is was a nice option. It tasted fine but not super delicious. My husband had the steak quesadilla which he said was very good. He also ordered the nachos which he said were horrible. I won't likely go back even though I still have a little bit more money on the gift certificate. Perhaps I'll give it to somebody else. With Bubbas and now nearby, not to mention Chitpotle and even Taco Bell, it's hard to justify getting Mexican food at TG. I'm sorry. I hate to give a bad review. I've been coming here for years. It's a casual, hole-in-the-wall type place. The food is delicious. Over the years I've unfortunately developed a food allergy and they were overly accommodative. I ordered something with plantains and I said it's okay, just leave them off. Came here the other day for takeout with my girlfriend. Simply ordered a chicken quesadilla, two tacos and a shredded chicken salad. I called the order in over the phone and the guy who answered the phone seemed to have a really nasty attitude and upon arriving at the store I met up with the same guy and he had a similar nasty attitude. I guess he doesn't like working there or he's not customer friendly but he's definitely not getting my business again. I've ordered here before and it hasn't seemed to been a problem but this time the tacos didn't taste right and the shredded chicken salad had a lot of bean juice as you can see in the attached picture basically the whole entire $20 dinner was a throwaway. I would rate it higher but the service for both eat in and take out is always off. Slow, cold shouldered and some times rude.
