I need to correct several impressions created by Moffett's response. First, regarding the photographs: the second photograph was not a photograph of Moffett's cleanup. I included it to show the size of the hole that had been opened in my laundry-room floor. The first photograph shows how Moffett actually left the area. After I stopped the project, I hired another plumbing company to complete the work. They used the large amount of dirt Moffett had left behind to refill the excavation and poured concrete to close the slab. My brother-in-law then had to retile the floor. The tiles that were removed were expensive and difficult to match, and more were broken out than ultimately proved necessary for access. The size and location of the excavation also effectively cut off normal access through that part of my home. During the project, I had to go out my front door, around the house through my backyard, and enter from the other side simply to get from one side of my home to the other. So when Moffett states that the photographs "appear to show that our crew did, in fact, clean up the work area," that is simply a misunderstanding of what the photographs show. The restored area in the second photograph is the work of the people I hired after Moffett. I don't think another company's restoration should be cited as evidence of Moffett's cleanup. I also want to address the suggestion that the dramatic difference in price resulted from my choosing a cheaper, temporary solution instead of Moffett's superior permanent solution. I did not tell the plumbers who subsequently bid the job what Moffett wanted to charge me. Doing so would have made no sense when I was trying to obtain independent bids. I obtained four separate bids after Moffett, and all four were considerably less expensive and proposed substantially simpler approaches. Those contractors arrived at their recommendations and prices independently. My issue was never simply that Moffett's proposed solution was expensive. The project began at approximately $8,000, increased to approximately $15,000, and ultimately reached approximately $38,000. I stopped the project rather than continue down that path. By that point, however, I had already paid Moffett approximately $10,000 out of pocket. Given where the project was left and the fact that I then had to pay another company to complete the plumbing work and restore my home, I believe that money should have been refunded. I don't expect that I will ever see it again, but it is an important part of my experience and one of the reasons I wrote this review. As for the 50-year no-stoppage warranty, I understand that Moffett considers that an important benefit of its proposed system. But citing a 50-year warranty does not address my concerns about how this particular project was handled, how dramatically the proposed cost escalated, the condition in which my home was left, or the fact that four subsequent contractors independently proposed considerably less expensive solutions. Finally, Moffett states that its calls to me "have not been accepted." That is correct. Given the amount of money involved and everything that has occurred, I prefer communication regarding this matter in writing, where there is a clear record. I remain willing to communicate with Moffett in writing. I stand by my review. I am not trying to tell anyone else what decision to make about Moffett. I am describing what happened in my home, what I paid, what I was ultimately quoted, and what it took to complete and restore the project afterward. Absolutely unacceptable and extremely pushy. I originally scheduled this company for a $59 service/inspection because my water heater system had been working fine. After the technician inspected it, his name is Sherveen, he told me that the pump was not working and was leaking. What was extremely concerning to me is that the leak started after he began working on/inspecting the system, even though I had not had this issue before the appointment. He then quoted me $1,200 just to replace a valve, or approximately $5,800 to repair the entire pump system. In my opinion, that price was completely unreasonable, especially when I could consider replacing the entire pump for that kind of money. I told him clearly that I did NOT want to proceed and that I wanted to get another estimate from another company. Instead of simply leaving the system in a safe condition and allowing me to get a second opinion, he repeatedly told me that if I didn't authorize the repair today, my house would get flooded because of the leak. I asked him if he could at least temporarily stop or contain the leak so I could contact another company. He refused and continued pressuring me to make a decision immediately. I said "I don't want to do the repair" over and over again, but they simply would not accept my answer. At one point, their office even called me and gave me a long, confusing explanation that went around in circles and did not actually address my concern. I felt like they were trying to scare and pressure me into approving a very expensive repair instead of allowing me to get a second opinion. A customer should never feel threatened, pressured, or scared into spending thousands of dollars on a repair. I came in expecting a $59 inspection. I left feeling like I was being pressured into an $5,800 repair under the threat that my house would supposedly flood if I didn't do it immediately. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion and multiple estimates before agreeing to any expensive repair with this company. Although the plumber who was sent out was very nice, they charged us $900 just to diagnose a problem. I agreed to the payment in advance, because I thought they were going to fix the problem. They did not. It was a small waterline issue for our office water machine. They couldn't get the correct parts. Fine. But charging us the full fee?!?! We had a bit of a disappointing experience with getting a defective a/c condensing unit but Moffett service guys Alberto, David, and Aaron and others were great trying to repair and then replacing the unit. These guys really like working for Moffett and it shows. Also need to mention Christian in sales and follow up, great guy. Even JoAnn and another girl on the phones answering "how can I make you smile today" make it apparent that this is the kind of company you rarely see anymore. They used unlawful high-pressure sales tactics, predatory pricing, price gouging, and potential criminal trespass/harassment. They charged me $11, 481.00 to change a water heater that should have cost $1,200. They charged me $735 for a permit that should have cost $120. They took pictures of my house without my permission. I told them to leave because I did not feel comfortable with them in my house. They refused. They threatend me saying I had pay them $10, 522 to change a shower faucet or I would lose my house insurance and house. They said they had my credit card and could charge it whenever they wanted to do so. read more

Plumber said he smells something near the shower pan.. offered to plug the drain and wait 30 min to see if the water level drops. We have been members of Moffett Plumbing's "Family Club" for years and have spent thousands of dollars on various services over the years. Until recently, we trusted them completely. During our most recent annual check, the initial technician did not identify any significant issues. Shortly after, however, a manager was sent to our home and the tone of the visit changed dramatically. We were suddenly presented with "urgent" and costly repairs that supposedly needed immediate attention. What made this especially concerning was that the items they recommended replacing were things Moffett Plumbing had previously installed or replaced themselves. It felt less like an honest maintenance check and more like an aggressive upsell attempt using fear-based messaging. As long time customers, this experience was disappointing and eroded our trust. I called the office to share my concerns and never received a return call. After weeks of waiting, I ultimately had to call back myself to cancel our membership. It's unfortunate to end a relationship after being loyal customers for so long, but the sales pressure and lack of follow-up made it clear we needed to move on. read more

Moffett or Profit plumbing & Air? That's the real question. I dialed up this group and was completely disgusted on the estimate they gave me to do a further plumbing inspection with a camera. They wanted $1700 so I sent them home. The lead guy was annoying and smelled like cigarette smoke so I couldn't wait for them to leave. I did an inquiry around local businesses and everyone else quoted around 200 to do a camera inspection so I would stay far away from this group. I also just found out that my house doesn't have a leak at all and they would've scammed me out of that money and never looked back. I don't do business like that and I know I live in South County and it's fun to try and charge us down here but y'all lost this customer. read more

I've used Moffett for both plumbing and air: Air (5 stars): Frankie and Mo came out to service my unique whole house minisplit system. Many other companies did not know these systems inside and out, but Frankie really knows these systems. He was able to fix a leak and correctly setup my system which had been installed by a contractor incorrectly. Others had told me I needed a new system for a 6-7 year old unit, but Frankie and Mo helped me fix mine and it's working as if it's brand new now. Very happy with the price, workmanship, customer support and knowledge. Plumbing (4 stars): I called as I had a leaking exposed copper shutoff valve for my 5 year old PEX. The shutoff valve was in the garage and easily accessible. Very simple job. The tech did a great, quality job though it was expensive for what it was. The minus 1 star is because along with this small repair I was given a quote for $35,900 to repipe my house which was repiped with PEX 5 years ago. I told him I wasn't interested but the tech still produced the quote. I'm not sure if he had a proposal quota or what, but 1. That price is outrageous and 2. Don't try to sell something your client absolutely does not need or want. Overall I will use their air side again, but I've since used other companies for my plumbing needs such as a new water heater, expansion tank and pressure reducing valve. read more

After his inspection he informed me the facet install done by his company Moffett Plumbing & Air in August of 2026 had been done incorrectly causing the leak. I was so impressed with his integrity (I would never have known it was the fault of a fellow employee had he not told me.) he fixed the problem quickly and efficiently and apologized profusely for the error. They went to the property for my mom, and insisted that I be there in person for a quote (mind you I was not in the area and just needed the repairs to be done). I told them to provide me with a quote and I'll determine whether it's reasonable or not, and they refused. Felt like I was dealing with a sleazy car salesman. Based on me "having to be present" I assumed it would be thousands of dollars, and they said yes but there's options. Basically, got the feeling they want to size you up. Next I said, just give me the quote (mind you we paid for it), and of course no quote ever, or documenation after 2 requests (over the phone and e-mail). Calling this company was a HUGE mistake, LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN, CALLING THESE GUYS WAS HUGE MISTAKE! The tech came out to do maintenance/clean our mini-split AC heads. Literally the first thing he tries to to do is upsell me on the "Family Program" before even listening to the job I wanted to perform. I finally get a chance to tell him what I need done (I actually knew what I needed to be done) and he's like we will do that, but let me first check everything. He checks things, while still telling me why the "Family Program" is great and it would save me by doing preventative maintenance. He tells me the small leak shouldn't be an issue after the filters were cleaned. He finally finishes and proceeds to give me an estimate on the cleaning and it is nearly $4,500!!!! I had this same service done about 24 months ago for about $450. LET ME REPEAT, NEARLY 10X THE PRICE. I looked at him and said, "Really? Do you think I'm that stupid?" Fast forward, the leak is still there and I have found another company to do the same job for about $525 that they quoted $4,500 for. I got 3 estimates for new ductwork since mine was over 45 years old! About time!! Moffett wasn't the least expensive nor the highest price. But I really liked Mark who came out to give me an estimate. And they were the only ones to also suggest that I replace my equally old insulation. I am sorry I ever had anything to do with Moffett. They seem very personable and professional but gouge their customers for everything they can get. I can't speak to their work, which seems fine, but their business practices are disgusting. Last summer, when I had a plumbing leak for the sixth time and was very upset, I was easily talked into re-piping my home. My mistake was not looking at other companies before going ahead with Moffett. I think I was charged at least twice the normal amount. I am embarrassed to say how much. One more thing: Recently Moffett offered me a "free" inspection of my heating system. Before the techs were finished, they had found $3,865 in recommended repairs! I sent them away and got another company to look at my heating system and they found nothing major. read more

Charged $517.00 to replace a $20 fill valve in my toilet tank. Took ~ 15 minutes. Does that mean their labor rate is $2,000/hr? What's more is that the $517 charge included a discount as I've been a $20/mo "Family Club" member for nearly two years. I feel price-gouged, but I am also mad at myself for falling for it. I had called for a simple valve replacement and got talked into scheduling my annual "plumbing inspection*" to save the service call charge (*supposedly at no additional cost because I've foolishly been paying the $20/mo to be a club member). Three plumbers and two hours later, I foolishly pay $517 for a toilet fill valve replacement. Next time, I'm going to make sure the plumber I hire quotes in terms of parts + labor with an estimate for each, and I'll be sure to google the parts price in advance. I've always used Moffett for all my plumbing needs (I even joined their family club) so when I found out that they now also had an HVAC division, I called them right away! My bedroom needed additional duct work after my remodel. Luis and Alberto came on time, were neatly dressed, and wore pink shoe covers for Breast Cancer Awareness month. After listening to all my needs and diagnosing what work needed to be done, they gave me straightforward pricing. I agreed with them so they started to work right away. All the required tools and parts were in their truck...wow! A few hours later, they let me know that the work was completed. The furniture was moved back into place, they swept & vacuumed, and I felt the cool air in my bedroom! Such an impressive job! Luckily I'm now in the family club for plumbing & AIR! Made arrangements to an agreed upon time to clear sink drain and after waiting 4 hours, they called to tell me they were not coming but could reschedule me for another date. Called Adee-do and they came within 2 hrs and cleared drain in 15. Moffet Plumbing is a big no! As a Veteran and public school retiree, this type of service should be turned away and take your hard earned money elsewhere! NO ON MOFFET PLUMBING! read more

I have used Moffett Plumbing before but it was on small jobs, however this last time it was a main drain line that was plugged AND this time it was at my house, Jacob the Moffett tech came out, a nice clean cut young man, very polite and knowledgeable. His first recommendation was to bring in Dry Down- a company to remove the waste water from underneath the house, at first I didn't want to spend the money to do that until the problem was fixed , but that was the wrong approach - the waste water needed to be removed for my families health and for the tech to work on clearing the drain , Next came the work on clearing the drain , of course I had my ideas on how to clear the drain from pass experiences, Jacob the tech and his Supervisor had their ideas, ultimately Mike Moffett came out to talk to me, he explained to me in detail what the challenges were based on the construction of the house and Mike's view on how to best fix this problem made the most sense to me and now I understood his point of view and totally agreed. To make this long story short , Jacob the tech worked hard to clear the mainline, his work ethic impressed me, his knowledge of using the scope to see the problem and use of the equipment was truly impressive, that young man made a stressful situation melt away and for that I'm grateful, I highly recommend Moffett Plumbing , read more

Overpriced and poor customer service. DO NOT SIGNUP FOR MEMBERSHIP. Had a good first visit/repair with Brian Rowles who fixed our water heater last Dec. I made the mistake of not shopping around since I heard about Moffett via Placentia Buzz. But everything went downhill from there. Of course they found other issues to fix that was over $1000 during the first visit and I declined. (I discovered their prices are at least double what other plumbers charge and I know they keep justifying the extra cost on the customer for their overhead.) Was convinced to sign up for the membership for at least the annual maintenance checks. First heater maintenance appt scheduled in May. First technician was nice but not very experienced so he called another older tech (Steve) to come take a look. Steve showed up hours after estimated appt window with no notice. His excuse was poor cell reception in the area he was working in. He basically said we needed a new unit but when I asked for an estimate he said he wanted to wait until my husband was also available so he didn't have to repeat himself twice. I explained I can relay the message and it's not easy for my husband to take time off work. He still wouldn't give me an estimate. Just an overall aggressive attitude. I responded to the feedback email saying I didn't have a good experience. I also requested to cancel my membership which I didn't read all the fine print and found out I can't cancel until 12 months. Someone called me back regarding my feedback and apologized and said they would look into canceling my membership and get back to me. Of course I never heard back and just waited and paid the $20/mo. I finally emailed on 11/19/25 to cancel. Jennifer Barker responded and told me to send the cancellation request email to Victor Garcia. I can't imagine their company is so big they can't forward messages amongst themselves but whatever, I emailed Victor. No response and on 12/1/25 I got another monthly charge. I emailed Victor again. On 12/5/25 I received confirmation of the cancellation. I asked for a refund for the last charge and included Jennifer on the email. As of 12/16/25 I still have not received a response. read more
