I called upon Acute Plumbing for installation of my Moen Flo Smart Water Monitor & Shutoff as required by my homeowner's insurance. Alan said he had installed many of these already and without hesitation, he went into my crawl space and installed it. I didn't install the app on my phone until Alan left for the day. When I installed the app that evening, I realized that a button on the device had to be pressed and held for a few seconds in order for the device to link to my app. I called Acute the next morning and spoke to Melissa and let her know what my issue was, and within the hour, Alan returned and went into the crawl space again and he made sure the device linked to my app. He was so kind and sweet and didn't charge extra for the additional dirty work he had to perform. I was familiar w/ Acute Plumbing as Rinnai referred them to me for a previous issue with my water heater - which was another amazing experience. When I discovered I had a leak in my water line I called Acute right away. Allan was able to come out right away to assess the issue. We did not know the area of the leak and he did not want to start at one end and just keep digging his way down until he found the leak. He was very methodical about determining where the leak was by the saturation of the ground. Without digging up my whole side yard he was able to pinpoint exactly where the leak was and patch the pipe. Set an appointment with this company through Yelp for last Saturday at 1:00 p.m. several hours before my appointment was to start they messaged me that they would not come unless I sent them $65 ahead of time via zelle. I didn't even see this message until about an hour and a half before my appointment. I was somewhat annoyed they didn't tell me this from the start, but okay, wasn't the end of the world. I have rattling pipes in my walls and wanted an estimate to fix them. The technician that arrived seemed like a nice and knowledgeable guy but wasn't about to start opening my walls to try and find the problem. He said if I put a pressure regulator valve in front of the property that the reduced pressure would fix the issue and he would send me a quote and proposal. I asked if he could also send me a quote for installing a Moen flow and a water filter in the same location, as that is something I wanted to do anyway and in the same location. He said no problem, he'd send me proposal for everything. A day later I received a quote for $1,065.00 to install a pressure regulator valve, including parts and labor. I texted back, how much to install the Moen flow and water filtration, but I never receive a response. I texted back and ask if the pressure regulator valve was guaranteed to solve the problem, again no response. I texted again, if you can't do the other things, can you give me a breakdown on the pressure relief valve, how much for the valve and how much for installation? I wanted to make sure I got a good valve, as these valves range from $50 to $300. Again, no response. I sent multiple messages over a 5-day period and not one single response. So I went back to Yelp and asked for quotes on installing the pressure relief valve, and the highest most expensive quote I got, which included the most expensive pressure relief valve, was $660 (average was about $525). Now, how good or bad this company's work is, I really couldn't say. But their quote seems very high to me and their customer service has left me unhappy. Additionally, there are many five star companies on Yelp that come out and give free estimates, so I'm disappointed in myself that I paid them $65 to text me a one sentence vague quote, especially in light of the fact that they didn't respond to any of my inquiries. Needless to say I'll be hiring someone else. read more
