But I was wrong... the food was actually pretty good and fresh. They kept filling up the trays of food when it was half way empty. The service was great, they must have refill our drinks like 4-5 times. The place was also very clean so that was a plus. On Saturday, April 4, 2026, we visited this establishment to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. We did not inform the waitress of the special occasion, as my granddaughter expressed a preference for a quiet dining experience. Upon entering, we informed the staff of the number of guests in our party and were seated in a booth. We ordered our beverages and proceeded to select our food from the buffet. We arrived at 4:00 PM, the designated dinner hour, and found that the majority of the food was freshly prepared and had not yet been picked over. We plated our meals and returned to our table to enjoy our dining experience. As we were nearing the end of our meal, we requested the waitress's to bring our bill. While we were awaiting payment, I dispatched my granddaughter to retrieve change for a substantially larger bill. Upon her return, my mother presented the money to the waitress. The waitress engaged in a conversation with my mother, but I was unable to comprehend the content of her words. I requested that the waitress clarify her statement. She repeated, "The tip, not including." Confused by her response, I informed her that we intended to provide her with a tip and that my granddaughter had gone to obtain the change. The waitress left the area. My granddaughter returned with the change, but the waitress was nowhere to be found. I asked my granddaughter to locate her and deliver the tip directly to her. She successfully found her and, as we exited the establishment, she approached us to express her gratitude. The price is really cheap and for a Chinese buffet, you can get some really good dishes. There is a lot of American dishes and some meh ones, but still, if you look through everything you can find some good picks. This place was also insanely crowded so you're most likely to wait to get a table, but once you do then you can get straight to it. A good bet is getting in line for the hibachi cooking station where you can select chicken, crab, shrimp, and steak along with noodles, rice, and veggies to be cooked on the hibachi grill. It's a bit of a slow process, because there is finite grill space, but the cook was able to do a lot at once. It's worth coming here even if it's a bit of a weight. The rest of the food is what you can expect. There's a lot of sushi options and your standard Chinese food fare like General Tso's. There's also pizza and French fries. For dessert there were good fresh fruit options. There were ice creams but scoop yourself which was hard because ice cream was so firm and this created a line because it took time. Service was good in that they took plates quickly but it was hard to get a drink refill. They were really busy. There aren't any fancy high end meals, but look at the prices. This was probably my 4th or 5th time visiting g here today and it confirmed that it will be my last time. This place is on the smaller side of buffets food wise that I've been to. The food isn't bad but it's not consistent - last time it was hot, fresh and tasted good, today not so much. It was lukewarm, you can tell most of the food has been sitting there since lunch. And lastly, today confirmed it for me that they put something in the food that makes you have diarrhea and immediately. This happened the prior times I was there as well but I thought maybe I was going crazy or it could have been something I ate prior; but no, today I haven't eaten all day and only had water. And my daughter and I went to the bathroom while there four times and I went again when I got home. I'll title this "I always feel like somebody's watching me." On this sunny Saturday evening, my companion, her family and I decided to drive to a buffet in New Jersey. Since we had a great time at one in Connecticut, so why not try our luck again? Upon entering, we were greeted by dark decor that made the place look more like a haunted house than a restaurant, and the pungent smell of seafood hit us like a tidal wave. I stayed away from their seafood because I don't have a strong stomach. Back in college, on the advice of my classmates, I had sushi, and it literally ruined my stomach. It took years of going to a gastroenterologist to have a normal stomach again, so I'm very cautious when it comes to seafood. We were greeted by the host, who had a waitress show us to a table with four chairs. We promptly asked for a booth because when people walk around, they bump into the back of your chair with a clumsy look of "I'm sorry." A booth would keep us cradled as if we were babies in our mother's arms. So, we walked to the other side of the restaurant and were greeted by who I'm going to call the "Watcher." The napkins and plastic forks (yes, plastic forks!) made me feel like I was at a family barbecue, but what sit-down restaurant gives you a plastic fork? The waitress' method of waitressing was absolutely unorthodox. As we were in the process of sitting down--I'm talking our butts were not even on the seats of the booth--she was asking us what type of drink we wanted. She scribbled the orders down and disappeared, only to return with the drinks in large 20-ounce coffee cups (paper). Hold up, plastic forks and paper coffee cups? Something tells me this restaurant is not environmentally friendly, or the dishwasher doesn't work on Saturdays. They literally stopped short of using paper plates; that would have really blown my mind. Back to our story... My first plate consisted of fried rice, sesame chicken, and fried dumplings. This is when I noticed the "Watcher" was literally standing behind our booth, listening to everything we spoke about. I don't know about you, but I really don't like people standing too close behind me, especially when I'm eating. It's CREEPY. The rice was okay, but I could tell it was from last night or maybe the night before. The sesame chicken was probably cooked today, but the fried dumplings were off. After years of working at Burger King as a teenager and recycling cooking oil each night until it was unusable, I could tell these dumplings were cooked in some very old oil. My stomach would give me hell just for looking at those fried dumplings. I took a drink of the "Sprite" the "Watcher" brought us, and there was something very off with this soda. I sipped some of it and was done. I got another plate of food and asked for a pink lemonade because my companion's mother was drinking it and didn't complain. Again, I got a cup of pink lemonade, and it, too, was off. This was it for me with the drinks. I slowly looked over my shoulder to see the "Watcher" still watching us. I could have asked for another drink, but I wasn't feeling it. This restaurant and that woman will never see me again. On top of it all, this creepy woman brought the check. When I went to pay her, I said, "Keep the change," which was probably two more dollars than the tax. She shook me down for more tip money. I'm a little lost. What did she do to deserve a huge tip? She creeped me and my party out just standing there. The food or either the drink left us very thirsty to a point where we stopped in the neighboring store Big Lots to buy drinks just to quench our thirst. When I got home I drank an additional 4 bottles of water. If you want unfresh food, a waitress to stand behind you while you eat, and to eat with plastic utensils and coffee cups in a sit-down restaurant, then this is your place. Many of these sort of dining establishments permanently closed during the height of quarantine (and understandably so), including a childhood favorite: Old Town Buffet in East Brunswick. That place had the BEST mashed potatoes (most identifiable by its concerning lack of chunks) and honestly, this place's tasted exactly like it. The hole in my heart has finally been filled ... Stopped in here for lunch since I was in the area. Not a horrible meal but definitely not my favorite Chinese buffet. No silverware but rather plastic disposable utensils and drinks are served in paper coffee cups, quite an odd choice but ok I guess. Food was ok, some things I wasn't crazy about but others were good. The beef and broccoli and the fried rice were good, I'd say I liked them most out of everything I had. First, let me start by saying I come from a very tall family, mother being well over 6 feet. My family and I came to this establishment after my 10 year old nephews football game who was pretty bummed about losing so we took him out to eat to make him feel better. The place is huge and very clean. The sushi counter is always active and the chef is pleasant. The hibachi corner is my favorite and the chef there is again very pleasant. The food tastes very fresh. I like that they don't use too much salt or oil and it goes on to show that they use fresh ingredients and do not rely on excess salt or oil to make it taste good. We were a party of 9 at Hibachi Grill at 5:00 pm on a Saturday for a birthday dinner. We had a very hard time finding parking in the restaurant's lot and had to look for a space for about 20 minutes. The restaurant was dirty, shabby and run-down. It was filled with crowds of noisy people waiting to be seated. The scene was very agitating. The quality of the food was uneven--not consistently good. The ice cream was difficult to reach and scoop out, causing a long line to form at that station. We were given just enough plastic forks and spoons for our party. These utensils were cheaply made and flimsy. We had been seated at our table for less than 2 hours when a couple of rude waitresses told us that we had to leave. We later saw a sign very inconspicuously placed in the restaurant stating that customers could stay a maximum of 2 hours. When we refused to leave, the waitresses became very unpleasant and aggressive. I was afraid that they would become violent. Needless to say, we will never return to Hibachi Grill. The relatively low price was not worth the unpleasantness of our entire experience in the restaurant. read more

So unfortunately Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet lost a customer today over 3 dollars. I took my boys for lunch today. As I was greeted at the door, I was asked how old my children are and replied 8 & 10. Then they showed us to our table. After our meal, I was given our check and noticed they charged me incorrectly. When I asked for my check to be modified, the waitress went and came back... and I was told to go see the manger at the front. I asked if the manager could come to our table. The manager came over and to my suprise, it was the same woman who sat us and asked for their ages. She went on to explain that if a child is over 5ft they would be charged an adult price. It was a recent change in the restaurants policy. I told her that the receipt doesn't say that, it simply says the ages (7-10yrs would be a child's price) and that it's not my fault that my son happens to be tall. He is in fact 10 years old and can check his birthdate. I also said that if they are seeing more and more children who happen to be 10 but can eat like adults, they should just lower their age bracket or leave it up to height, it's misleading. the waitresses around started to agree with me, and apparently after speaking to some tables around me have also encountered a similar situation because of their tall 9/10 year olds. The problem isn't the $3 dollars I paid extra for. The problem is "The Manager" should have let me known during the time she sat us. She shouldn't have even asked for their ages, but instead their height. This just doesn't seem right. If anything change my check and explain that this would be a courtesy but she would have to charge for next time.
