Where do I begin with this review. We decided to get drapes for our living room and one bedroom. After some searching, I saw that Stoneside had great reviews and was excited to get what I wanted. We had a designer come to our place and she spent a lot of time here and showed us all our options, which was nice and very helpful in deciding what would look best. What was a turn off is being told how expensive the drapes are--I would not be getting drapes if I could not afford it! We finally were able to place our order and hoped for the best. Our first installer came a little less than 2 months later and installed one set of drapes, and then realized Stoneside had not sent the correct parts for the second room. So, we had to reschedule, however, when the reschedule date came about half an hour before arrival time, we were told that the installer was running late and would not be able to come. We were again rescheduled for 10 days after that (I feel like we should have been made priority after the constant issues of installation). We finally got the drapes installed after three tries. After the high prices, and all the installation issues, I was really hoping the drapes would look phenomenal--they look great on the top with the ripple fold but once u look down it is super flat, so now I have to tie the curtains hoping the bottom won't be as flat and get a fold over time. Our bedroom drapes also have a weird shape on top as not enough space was left between the blinds and the drapes. With all the in-home consultations and measurements, I feel like this should have been considered. I echo another review-with the price you pay for the drapes you expect everything to be great, but we got better and quicker service from Home Depot. read more

When you pay the price of a new car for blinds and drapes in your house, you expect the level of quality, installation and customer service to be outstanding. Unfortunately, or experience with Stoneside has been well below that expectation. We had an installation a couple of weeks ago and they did not have the entire order available to install at once (turns out, some of the cellular shades had never been ordered). We recently had a new addition put on our house with a lot of windows and the cathedral ceiling room was supposed to be the highlight. The installers not only wrote all over our newly painted walls when measuring for placement, but some of the curtain rods were noticeably scratched (and they are not cheap!) and not placed correctly so that our $7K drapes are hanging almost 2 inches off the floor instead of the 0.5 inches that they are supposed to be. It may not sound like a lot, but it is visually not appealing. The installers agreed that they were too short but they suggested repositioning the rod, which due to its size, will leave many holes that will have to be repaired and may cause some structural issues when new holes are drilled so close to the previous ones. We reached out the sales rep, Michelle, both by email and by phone. She never responded to us and in my experience working in a corporate environment, a sale is not complete until the product/service is delivered and the customer is satisfied. My husband has been communicating with another individual at the company who said the drapes would have to be remade but the company is pushing back saying it would be too expensive. They didn't deliver on what we ordered and now they want us to eat the cost because of their poor quality and service. Save your money and go somewhere local, or order somewhere online for a fraction of the price because in the end, your drapes will look like they're from Target anyway! read more

Stoneside Boston provides a free in-home consultation, and it is well worth taking them up on this opportunity. My consultant, Dana, was a great listener and thoughtfully evaluated my situation and concerns (I have an active kitty). We looked at my wall colors - the bedroom is a unique color. Ultimately, I chose a curved bright white vertical blind with dust cover valence and aluminum rod. Later the same day, Dana sent a detailed quotation with an image of the product by email. The quotation included information on the lifetime warranty, US-made product, and outlined payment and finance options. I opted for the installation of the blinds, but I should point out you can purchase blinds and opt to install them yourself. I am extremely happy that I decided to have Stoneside install my blinds. After paying online, Dana set up an appointment for a measurer to come and take exact measurements. The measurement visit was quick as they used a laser system. My blinds were delivered and installed exactly 30-days after I placed my order. Tommy, the installer, was personable, efficient, and extremely professional. The installation was done quickly in an hour, and he cleaned the treated areas after installation. The vertical blinds look amazing (judge for yourself as I am attaching photos), and the kitty seems to be pleased, too. I would rate Stoneside 5 stars all the way! I got quotes from multiple providers and even considered doing the installation myself. After doing the design consultation I was happy with the recommendations and decided it would be best to go with a reputable brand. The quote was expensive but I thought it would be worth the money for something that should last a while. I went ahead and ended up paying about $1,100 per a window (3 motorized, 5 total) in the beginning of August. They came and installed temporary paper shades. I knew the expected wait time was 8-10 weeks and while this wasn't ideal, I thought it would be worth the wait. At this point I was very happy with Stoneside and my purchase. Finally the blinds came in and I was very excited. First couple go well and look great. 2 don't fit. They remeasure and I reschedule another 8-10 weeks down the road. In addition 1 of the motors didn't work with the remote properly. This is eventually fixed but the installers are not experts with the motors and usually have to call additional support on the phone. Not a big deal but took a while to get the motor operating properly. Sometime in November / December they come back. First one goes in, next one doesn't fit. It is now almost half a year later and I'm still waiting to have all my shades properly installed. I find this unacceptable and if I had known it would take this long I would have went with someone else. During all these installations I was called for rescheduling on multiple occasions because of circumstances that were out of Stoneside's control. I am not deducting stars for this because obviously things like injury and illness happen but would be nice if they had more people to complete the installations. Instead I was stuck rearranging my day for no reason at all. For transperancy they will be back again for attempt #3 soon. Hopefully things go well and I finally have the blinds I paid in full for half a year ago. Besides the measurement, there were other issues. I received an email from billing between installation attempt 1/3 and 2/3 that I had not paid in full. This was incorrect and was alarmed by the note. After calling and reading the invoice more carefully I found that they had sent me someone elses invoice to my email. This was worrying because confidential information was included and now I can only worry about if my own information has been kept confidential and safe. Totally unacceptable. I am giving 2 stars because the blinds that were installed correctly look great. The design consultation was very helpful as well. At the end of the day the mistake from billing and measurements makes me dissatisfied with Stoneside and can't recommend them in the future. read more

I recently purchased a newly renovated condo in Watertown and moved in. After I moved in, I realized that i lot of sun exposure due to multiple windows, which i thought was great. Then i realized wait a minute, i have no blinds and privacy? As a result, I scoured the internet and used Yelp and found Stoneside Blinds. When i scheduled my consultation, I met Abby who came to my place during the early evening (after work for me), which i thought was very accommodating since many consultations expect a 9-5 view. She put on her booties to not dirty the floor (mind the floor was very dirty anyway because I just moved in and didn't unpack). She assessed the windows and gave me her advice on the type of shades as well as the colors. She showed me her digital pad which had photos of other installations. Abby was great in providing advice of the design and color, as well as wear the cords should be located. She gave her opinion on the pros/cons of the blinds, and it all really came together. A few days later, an installer (substitute for main installer) came to take final measurements. Abby took a quick calculation to write up the price quote. However, the measurer came to conduct a more thorough measurement to make sure the measurements that Abby wrote up were correct. For the most part, they were aligned but then a few were off, where Abby indicated I was able to get a price reduction in regards to the fees. Abby was also nice enough to overnight mail me temporary shades for my bedrooms. After a few weeks later, Andrew (main installer) came to my place. He was awesome. He installed all of the blinds/shades, and showed me how to work them. He even provided recommendations/tips on potential problems. Not only that, he went above and beyond his job. He noticed that there was some cracks on one of my windows, so he patched it up for me at no extra charge using the caulking that i had around. Abby and Andrew really do care for their clients. They provide great customer service. I admit that the blinds + installation are a bit on the higher end, but you get full value from it by the quality of the blinds and the quality of the service. This review is long overdue as I had my shades installed earlier this year. I could not have been more pleased with my Stoneside experience - from the beginning stages working with Mariko to installation working with Tommy. My project wasn't large but it was custom. We bought a new house and needed window treatments on some super small (but very visible to the outside world) windows. I was conflicted because I knew we needed the privacy, but I was concerned it would affect the interior aesthetic. Mariko explained all my options to me and the pros and cons of each. She brought up important points I would have never thought about. Installation went just as smoothly as Tommy was professional, polite, and efficient and I am so pleased with the finished product. He was quick, efficient, and extremely courteous -- just as I recalled from the original installation. He analyzed all the components, diagnosed it quickly, and replaced the remote. He also demonstrated how to change the battery if I ever need to in future. All this was free to me as the shades are still under warranty.
