The Mohegan Diner used to be a fantastic establishment, at least for a diner. But that was back in the proverbial day, before they had expanded and the food went downhill. I've been to this diner plenty of time before COVID and it was "ok", I went this afternoon to get lunch on the way home from a long trip. I was happy to see them following the new pandemic rules. Prices have gone up and for a bacon cheeseburger it's $15? No pickle, no slaw. I can go to the Carriage House and have a better burger for $15. The burger tasted ok, except the bacon was chewy and made it hard to cut and bite. I liked the fries, not soggy and not too well done. I would probably eat here again but wouldn't go out of my way to seek them out. read more

Trash Food and Trash service. I ordered a skillet and they served me scrambled eggs on a plate and charged me for the price of a skillet. So so disappointed! First we ordered and waited a long time for our food to arrive. The waiter rarely checks in to see if you need anything and it isn't that crowded. Just to get the check, we had to hail the waiter down louder than a commuter on the corner of a NYC street yelling for a cab. The menu items seem standard and most meals that usually includes coleslaw has to be requested. I was in the mood for a Reuben which I assumed was going to look like a sandwich and not some gloppy open faced mess. Absolutely gross! I ended up with tough strips of corned beef smothered in a thick layer of melted Swiss. Blech! The coleslaw tasted good at first but was overladen with onions (onion powder?) and the taste stays in your mouth for hours. My sister had a burger which tasted standard. My father ordered scrod fish and it was just ok. He rated it a 4 on scale of 1-10. We had to order dessert just to get the onion taste off of our palettes. Guess what, it didn't work, we were burping that awful coleslaw spice/taste all day. The prices are high and many items are alacarte. They nickel and dime you on the burger so it will cost more than a just a standard standard deluxe in another diner. Not returning anytime soon! read more

Came in, the diner is very clean and it's a nice quiet place to eat. I wasn't pleased with the overpriced food that wasn't the best either. The food is rather bland. And the waiter only came by the table to take our order (15 minutes after we had been seated) and then to deliver the order. Kind of expected maybe. Just came back from here for a late night dinner with my boyfriend (around 10:30pm or so). We both agree that our food was great, arrived quickly, and was well made. Our waiter was also really nice and friendly...I wish I could say the same for the front desk lady. Holy. Cow. What a terrible, unfriendly, and condescending woman! There was never an ounce of friendliness or kindness in her voice or attitude. She seemed to look down on us the whole time. Maybe she was tired, maybe she had a bad day, but she had no reason to take it out on us. Work on your attitude, ma'am! PS: At the end of the night, when we gave our check to the front, we apologized for not earlier stating that we wanted the check split. She responded flatly, "We don't split checks after 8pm." I've never been so disappointed in a diner. The food is below average, but it is way overpriced. I asked for a side salad substitution for my french fries with my sandwich, the bill comes and they charged me more for the salad than they did for the sandwich. I'm sorry but $16 for a BLT and a side salad is unacceptable. My friend ordered a salad entrée and was told there was an egg in it. When he received it there was no egg he was told it would be five dollars more for one hard boiled egg. This is just crazy. Went for a casual family lunch on Sunday--myself and my wife, and two preschoolers. The hall wasn't even full but for whatever reasons all the waiters/waitresses were (seemingly) busy and distracted. They weren't unfriendly when they came over to the table, but didn't bother to check in too often. We had to work so really hard to get their attention, it felt like I was trying to schedule a meeting with my manager's manager at work. I'll start by saying I love the staff and the food is good. Our server is amazing everytime we go there. They have recently posted signs on the door that say cash discount. When we paid by atm card, not credit card, they added $5.00. When asked why, he said there are signs are posted its justblike the gas station. No, signs say cash discount wich implies that the bill will be less if paid in cash. The bill does not have a cash or credit price. And gas stations do not charge a fee to use an ATM fee like they do. I get it's hard, I get they are being charged a fee. But they lost a very good customer. I will never be back. I remember this place from way back. Have not eaten here in ages. We ordered a chicken quesadilla which was of pretty good size and I ordered a pastrami on rye which I thought was rather skimpy. Usually when you order a sandwich you expect the entire piece of bread to be covered with meat. This might be one of the worst diner experiences I've ever had. I came in hoping for some kind of pasta dish (any pasta, nothing specific) and I was quickly informed that there was a new cook in the back and he didn't know how to cook anything "crazy". Given the fact that I work in the restaurant industry, and as disappointed as I was, I understood and settled on a chicken caesar salad. I also appreciated the waitress's honestly on the matter. The food came out in a timely manner. The spinach dip was good. But, I got my salad and there was no chicken on it! Once again, I was pretty understanding plus I enjoy caesar salads without chicken as well. I then got the dressing in a sauce boat on the side. The dressing was extremely thin, seemingly watered down. Unsurprisingly enough, it tasted watered down as well. The croutons were pretty stale as well. My friend got a burger cooked medium rare. It seemed to be cooked correctly and he said he enjoyed it (hence why there are two stars instead of one). The service was not terrible but nothing to write home about. After we were given our food, no one returned to check and make sure everything was ok. I probably won't be coming back to this diner any time soon. read more

Mohegan Diner is unobjectionable to the point of blandness. We've had both breakfast and lunch here, and both meals did the job without being either memorable or offensive. For breakfast, we ordered a short stack of multigrain pancakes and an omelette. The pancakes were fluffy, although there was nothing to identify them in either taste or texture as multigrain. The omelette was perfectly cooked and the cheese inside was hot and melted, but the salsa could have passed for Campbell's vegetable soup (which I do enjoy, just not in my eggs). The accompanying home fries were crisp and mostly unseasoned. We also had two diner staples for lunch: a tuna melt and a BLT. Again, both were fine -- an adequate portion of bacon, a heaping scoop of tuna salad. Both dishes were served hot, and both lacked any distinguishing qualities, either for better or worse. One week later, it took my fiancee three minutes even to recall what she had ordered. The diner itself is of the 1950s chrome revival variety, which means it looks like pretty much every other diner within 200 miles. The interior is cavernous, squeaky clean, and moderately loud, and the service is adequate if perfunctory. The prices are par for New York, which is to say that while they are by no means unreasonable for fair portions of food (the tab ran to about $20 for both meals), the bill may cause you to reconsider your decision not to cook at home. That said, sometimes we don't want to cook at home, and sometimes all we want is the comfort of basic diner food. While we aren't eagerly planning our next visit to Mohegan Diner, we will probably default to it at least a few times a year. read more

I have been coming here for 9 years and the food is good, the service is usually great and the prices are not bad. I saw reviews from someone who dined here twice after a night out boozing (her words) and gave bad reviews. My advice is to try it sober and judge it then. Also to the reviewer who didn't like the placemats with the ads, this is very typical of most diners, and helps keep food prices down and I think advertising local business shows community support. Really 2.5 stars. Great for traditional breakfast food - pancakes, french toast, eggs of any kind. I wouldn't bother with much else. Years ago their sandwiches and gyros were quite good but have gone significantly downhill in recent years. The entrees are generally not appetizing and very overpriced. Was upstate visiting friends and they suggested this diner. I was not impressed. It was fairly crowded Sunday morning. We got a table right away, but it took over ten minutes for them to ask if we wanted coffee. The diner's I go to, you get asked if you want coffee almost as soon as you sit down. My food arrived cold. I asked for my hash browns to be well done, they were barely cooked. My bacon tasted like fried chicken skin, it seemed like it was cooked much earlier and just reheated. My boyfriend's eggs arrived cold. This place is hit or miss with food. Its never truly a great meal but it usually will suffice. The service is always good, they never rush you out and the prices aren't bad at all. They are 24/7 which is always a plus. Good for breakfast, which is usually all I tend to get at any diner, no matter the time! I really do love their rice pudding with cinnamon and whip cream.
